To study measurement of coated steel corrosion in mortar, a transient electro-magnetic(TEM) method was adapted. The sensors were made of enamelled wire with diameter of 0.25mm(transmitter), 0.1mm(receiver) and the secondary electro motive force(EMF) was measured with SIROTEMIII. The sensors configuration was used as in loop configuration. After coated steels were corroded by the salt spray during 3, 7, 15, 25days, they were embedded in mortar which were made from sand : cement : water ratio of 2 : 1 :0.5. To investigate coated steel corrosion in mortar, the sensors were used. ( sensorl - $T_x$ : $4{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $3{times}3cm$, sensor2 - $T_x$ : $8{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $3{times}3cm$, sensor3 - $T_x$ : $4{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $6{times}6cm$, sensor4 - $T_x$ : $8{\Omega}$, $R_x$ : $10{\Omega}$, $6{times}6cm$). The obtained results showed that the secondary EMF was decreased with specimens of 3, 7days corroded coationg steel in mortar and then increased with specccimens of 15, 25days corroded one. And it was confirmed that measurement of coated steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic(TEM) method is possible.
In order to measure steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic (TEM) Method, the development of the sensors have been studied. The sensors were made of enamelled wire with diameter of 0.25mm and Acril. The sensor configuration was used as a coincident loop type. The secondary electro motive force(EMF) was measured with SIROTEM III. The accelerator was equipped with the SIROTEM III. The accelerator permits the transmitter to turn off approximately 10~15 times faster than normal. The high resolution time series used for very shallow or high resistivity investigation was selected. The steels were embedded in mortar which were made from sand : cement : water ratio of 2 : 1: 0.5. The mortar specimen was 50cm long, 20cm wide and 10cm thick. To investigate steel corrosion in mortar, the sensors used were with 2$\times$2$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$), 3$\times$3$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$) and 6$\times$6$cm^2$(3, 6, 9$\Omega$). The obtained result obtained showed that the sensor 8(6$\times$6$cm^2$, 6$\Omega$) was the proper sensor for the measurement of steel corrosion in mortar.
Steel, as a reinforcing mechanism in concrete, provides the tensile strength that is lacking in concrete, alone, and the high alkaline environment (pH 12.5) in concrete offers satisfactory protection against most corrosion of the steel. However, the corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete can occur by chloride attack or carbonation, and it can cause a loss of integrity a section and concrete failure through cracking and spalling. In this study, a transient electro magnetic method (TEM) of a nondestructive technique is adapted to study the measuring method of steel corrosion in mortar. The sensor was made of an enameled wire, with a diameter of 0.25mm and anacril. He sensor configuration used was a coincident loop type. The secondary electro motive force (2nd EMF) was measured with SIROTEMIII, which equipped the accelerator. The accelerator allowsthe transmitter to turn off approximately $10\sim15$ times faster than normal. The high-resolution time series, used for very shallow or a high resistivity investigation was selected. After steels were corroded by the salt spray, during 4, 8, 15 and 25 days, they were embedded in mortar. The content results acquired in this study are as follows. The variation of the secondary electro motive force (2nd EMF) was shown by the change of steel surface with different corrosion time steel. It was confirmed that measurement of steel corrosion in mortar by a transient electro-magnetic method (TEM) can be possible.
In this paper, a new definition of short-circuit ratio concept for multi-converter HVDC systems is proposed. Analysis results of voltage interaction between converters show that the reactive power-voltage characteristic of a converter has a dominant effect on voltage interaction level compared with its active power-voltage characteristic. Such a relation between converter reactive power and voltage interaction level supports taking the former into account in the definition of short-circuit ratio concept for multi-converter systems. The proposed definition is verified by the method of maximum power curve for various system configurations. Furthermore, a formula to calculate transient overvoltage for multi-converter systems is derived based on the proposed definition, and the efficiency of the derived formula is verified.
This paper presents a method to predict the transient characteristic of the air lubricated slider head in a hard disk drive by using optimization technique. The time dependent modified Reynolds equation based on the molecular slip flow approximation equations was used to describe the fluid flow within the air bearing and the implicit finite difference scheme is applied to calculate the pressure distribution under the slider head. The exhaustive search combined with the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno method were employed to obtain optimum design variables which are taper angle, rail width and taper length in order to keep the forces and moments acting on the slider head in dynamic equilibrium. The results show that the optimal head slider of the magnetic head has good stability characteristic that can reach the steady state within 0.5 microsecond.

In this paper, the nonlinear model of axial electro-magnetic suspension(EMS) system is presented. The characteristic of attracyion force is analyzed by FEM. Some simulation is given to compare the sliding mode control based on the input-output linearization with the classical linear control using Taylor approximation. Real result of regulating control, transient response comparison, and robustness control with disturbance using the sliding mode method is presented.
In this study, the dynamic flying characteristics of the worn head sliders are investigated theoretically due to the change in head geometry caused by head and disk contact. The film shapes can be approximated as taper- truncated cycloidal-flat film. Two-dimensional time dependent modified Reynolds equation included molecular slip effect are formulated with neglected the roughness effect. The motion of head slider was assumed to have two degree of freedom in this work. Finite difference approximation with Newton Raphson iterative technique and the fourth order Runge-Kutta method were implemented to obtain the transient response of the slider head with various change in head geometry numerically and compared with the transient response of the IBM3380 type head slider. The simulation results show the film shape has affects significantly on the static and dynamic characteristic of slider head in magnetic storage systems.

Although DC ground resistance is a good index of performance for a grounding system, it does not reflect the grounding performance during the transient states. Besides, impulse ground impedance, which is defined by a ratio of the peak value of transient ground potential rise to the peak value of impulse current, cannot be an absolute performance index due to its dependence on impulse current shape. In this paper, a grounding performance of needle-typed ground rod has been compared with simple ground rod using HIFREQ[1], which is an engineering electro-magnetic code based on MoM (Method of Moment).

This paper presents an experimental characteristics of electro-hydraulic proportional pressure control valve. In this study, poppet and valve body which are assembled into the proportional solenoid were designed and manufactured. The constant force characteristics of proportional solenoid actuator in the control region should be independent of the plunger position in order to be used to control the valve position in the fluid flow control system. The stroke-force characteristics of the proportional solenoid actuator is determined by the shape (or parameters) of the control cone. In this paper, steady state and transient characteristics of the solenoid actuator for electro-hydraulic proportional valve are analyzed using finite element method and it is confirmed that the proportional solenoid actuator has a constant attraction force in the control region independently on the stroke position. The effects of the parameters such as control cone length, thickness and taper length are also discussed.
Transient finite element method for analysis of moving coil needs many number of elements and much time to make calculation. Therefore, induction heating process for moving coil was simulated by traveling the position of the heating planes in this paper. In the magnetic and thermal analyses, temperature-dependent magnetic and thermal material properties were considered. Finite element program was developed and finite element results were compared with the experimental results.
