  • In this paper, investigated the core of transformer of high power factor and high effectiveness about design and choice technology. Transformer that use existent general core and material is high no-load loss power. Presented core choice method that can reduce loss. Could do to reduce loss according to choice technology of use material more than about 10 (%). Presented classification and check list by Core's type.

  • This paper presents the iron core design method of a high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer considering voltages per turn (V/T). In this research, solenoid type HTS coils were selected for low voltage (LV) winding and double pancake coils for high voltage (HV) winding, just as in conventional large power transformers. V/T is one of the most fundamental elements used in designing transformers, as it decides the core cross sectional area and the number of primary and secondary winding turns. By controlling the V/T, the core dimension and core loss can be changed diversely. The leakage flux is another serious consideration in core design. The magnetic field perpendicular to the HTS wire causes its critical current to fall rapidly as the magnitude of the field increases slowly. Therefore in the design of iron core as well as superconducting windings, contemplation of leakage flux should be preceded. In this paper, the relationship between the V/T and core loss was observed and also, through computational calculations, the leakage magnetic fields perpendicular to the windings were found and their critical current decrement effects were considered in relation to the core design. The % impedance was calculated by way of the numerical method. Finally, various models were suggested.

  • Proper design guides are proposed for a practical dual-active bridge (DAB) converter based on the mathematical model on the steady state. The DAB converter is popular in bidirectional application due to its zero-voltage capability and easy bidirectional operation for seamless control, high efficiency, and performance. Some design considerations are taken to overcome the limitation of the DAB converter. The practical design methodology of power stage is discussed to minimize the conduction and switching losses of the DAB converter. Small-signal model and frequency response are derived and analyzed based on the generalized average method, which considers equivalent series resistance, to improve the dynamics, stability, and reliability with voltage regulation of the practical DAB converter. The design of closed-loop control is discussed by the derived small-signal model to obtain the pertinent gain and phase margin in steady-state operation. Experimental results of a 3.3 kW prototype of DAB converter demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • We introduce the systematization design method using analogical analysis. The design method can make us predict the characteristic experiment for the magnitude we desire as the expression equation applied continuously. We can induce the design sample the users demand with the verification of the data on optimum design previously. Therefore in case of designing and developing the products systematization design method is very useful for the standardization of the developed goods compatability the reduction of construction time and price. In this paper we present the analogical algorithms of systematization design using similarity theory design factors and processing method of the restriction factors. Also we analyze the output voltage in terms of input voltage and displacement as choosing a differential transformer as the model.

  • Incase of not considered seismic design at transformer vault which is made of many informant electrical facility, facility is damaged, electrical fire breaks out and second damage is able to break out at generating earthquake. But seismic design yet is not applied to at transformer vault in the country. Regard to seismic design method of electrical facility installed in the building internal, we present the seismic design of electrical facility using "Building construction design standard" in internal and "Manual of seismic design and construction for Building Electrical facility" in japan.   • A 1 MVA single-phase high temperature superconducting (HTS) transformer with BSCCO-2223 wire was designed in this paper. The rated voltages of each sides of the transformer are 22.9 kV and 6.6 kV respectively. Double pancake HTS windings arranged reciprocally will be used for the transformer windings, because of the advantages of insulation and distribution of surge voltage in case of a large power and high voltage transformer. Single HTS wire was used for the primary windings and four parallel wires were used for the secondary windings of the transformer with transposition. A core of the transformer was designed as a shell type core separated with the windings by a cryostat made of GFRP with a room temperature bore. The operating temperature of the HTS windings will be about 65K with sub-cooled liquid nitrogen. A cryogenic cooling system using a GM-cryocooler for this HTS transformer by natural convection of liquid nitrogen was designed. This type of cooling system can be a good option for compactness, efficiency, and reliability of the HTS transformer.

  • In HTS transformer with double pancake windings, the perpendicular component of leakage magnetic flux density ($B_{r}$ ) applied to HTS tapes of double pancake windings of HTS transformer acts as a cause to decrease the critical current in HTS tape. So, in this paper, HTS transformer with reciprocal arrangement winding is designed. And in order to investigate the$ B_{r}$ applied to HTS windings, the 2-D non-linear electromagnetic analysis of HTS transformer is performed by using the OPERA 2D. The maximum $B_{r}$ applied to winding of HTS transformer is 0.112 T and the characteristics of HTS transformer were also obtained. But in this type of winding arrangement, reciprocal arrangement, the generated ac-loss to the HTS windings is very high because of the applied $B_{r}$ to HTS windings. Therefore, in order to reduce the generated ac-loss to the HTS windings, the new design of HTS transformer with concentric winding arrangement is presented in this paper and the 2-D non-linear electromagnetic analysis and the ac-loss for HTS transformer with the concentric winding arrangement is also carried out.

  • This paper presents conceptual design and 3-D electromagnetic analysis of 1MVA transformer with BSCCO-2223 High Tc Superconducting (HTS) tapes. The rated voltages of each sides of the transformer are 22.9 kV and 6.6 kV, and double pancake windings were adopted. High voltage and Low voltage sides were composed of several double pancake windings. Four HTS tapes were wound in parallel for the windings of low voltage side and were transposed in order to distribute the currents equally in each conductor. The transformer core was designed as a shell type core made of laminated silicon steel plates and the core is separated with the windings by a cryostat with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics(FRP). A sub-cooling system using $LN_2$ were designed to maintain the coolant temperature of 65K. Finally perpendicular components of magnetic field applied to tapes were calculated 0.24T in the rated operation using 3-D analysis. A real 1MVA HTS transformer will be manufactured in near future based on the design parameters presented in this paper.

  • An L-band linear accelerator system for e-beam sterilization is under design for bio-technology application. The klystron-modulator system as RF microwave source has an important role as major components to offer the system reliability for long time steady state operation. A PFN line type pulse generator with a peak power of 71.5-MW, $7{\mu}s$, 285 pps is required to drive a high-power klystron. The high power pulse transformer has a function of transferring pulse energy from a pulsed power source to a high power load. The pulse transformer producing a pulse with a peak voltage of 275 kV is required to produce 30-MW peak and 60 kW average RF output power at the frequency of 1.3-GHz. We have designed the high power pulse transformer with 1:13 step-up ratio. The peak and average power capability is 71.5-MW (275 kV, 260 A at load side with $7{\mu}s$ pulse width) and 130 kW, respectively. In this paper, we present a system overview and initial design results of the high power pulse transformer.
