  • This paper reports a study on determination of the adequate location of 100 MVA STATCOM regarding the transfer capability enhancement on the metropolitan interface as well as the economy in system operation. The base case in the study was established considering a scenario of the energy support to North Korea from the KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) system through a HVDC interconnection. In the base case, the energy support was approximately modeled with a load of 1500 MW, and by the load addition, the system was weakened in terms of voltage stability and transfer capability. After a thorough investigation on the case, the location of the STATCOM was decided to compensate the reactive deficit of the modified system and to maximize the operational benefit which can be estimated by FV analysis.

  • The notion of linearity is fundamental in science and engineering. Much of system and control theory is based on the analysis of linear system, which does not care whether it is nonlinear and complex. The dynamic programming is one of concerned technology when users are interested in choosing best choice from system operation for nonlinear or dynamic system‘s performance and control problem. In this paper, we will introduce the dynamic programming which is based on discrete system. When the discrete system is constructed with discrete state, transfer between states, and the event to induct transfer, the discrete system can describe the system operation as dynamic situation or symbolically at the logical point of view. We will introduce technologies which are related with controllable of Controlled Markov Chain as shown example of simple game. The dynamic programming will be able to apply to optimal control part which has adaptable performance in the discrete system.

  • In this study a model for the drying process in paper production plants was developed based on the mass and heat balances around drying cycles. Relationships for the heat transfer coefficients between the web and the air as well as between the drying cylinder and the web were extracted from the closed-loop plant operation data. It was found that the heat transfer coefficients could be represented effectively in terms of moisture content, basis weight and reel velocity. The effectiveness of the proposed model was illustrated through numerical simulations. From the comparison with the operation data, the proposed model represents the paper plant being considered with sufficient accuracy.

  • In this paper, an equivalent circuit model for near-field noise emission is proposed to implement a multimedia operation-monitoring system for mobile devices. The proposed model includes a magnetic field probe that captures noise emissions from multimedia components, and a transfer function for near-field noise coupling from a transmission line source to a magnetic field probe. The proposed model was empirically verified with transfer function measurements of near-field noise emissions from 10 kHz to 500 MHz. With the proposed model, a magnetic field probe was optimally designed for noise measurement on a camera module and an audio codec in a mobile device. It was demonstrated that the probe successfully captured the near-field noise emissions, depending on the operating conditions of the multimedia components, with enhanced sensitivity from a conventional reference probe.

  • KORAIL airport railroad is the largest private invested project and also the first private tried rail SOC, but which was acquisited into KORAIL on 30. Nov. 2009. Presently, airport train opened on 23. MAR. 2007 as the first phase(Inchon international airport - Kimpo airport, operation distance 37.6km), the 2nd phase(Kimpo airport - Seoul station, operation distacne 20.4km) is expected at the late this year. In this study, I tried to compare domestic & foreign airport train in the perspective of transfer system and searched for the development agendas.

  • For large reciprocating compressors in parallel operation, an analytical study has been carried out on the gas pulsation in associated discharge piping lines. Since the pressure pulsation at a valve, valve dynamics, and the gas flow rate through the valve are interrelated, affecting one another, these need to be solved simultaneously. Acoustic transfer matrix method, which relates acoustic pressure and velocity at one location to those at another location, has been adopted to calculate the effect of the gas flow at one valve location on the gas pulsation at other valve locations.

  • A robust design of head gasket is pursued by using FEA model of engine assembly. Engine assembly model consists of cylinder head, block, gasket, and head bolt is constructed to understand a complex behavior of this engine compound. Thermal loading is performed on the assembled engine cylinder and block to obtain temperature field. Firing load is added to the results of heat transfer analysis to simulate the engine operation condition. Temperature filed results from heat transfer analysis are mapped into the structural mesh. Contact pressure distribution along the bead has been monitored for the engine operation condition. Based on the results obtained from the analysis, Taguchi method has been adopted for a robust design process of head gasket. Among the control factors, bolt size affects most robustness of head gasket sealing.

  • To verify the suitability of the Railroad safety requirements analysis, the actions of the function which it follows in a given operation condition are composed of the rule model or the state model. And it test must be possible. The subject of condition transfer in compliance with the transfer condition which is an event of system it will be able to accomplish the operation of system. However, tasks allocated to the actor are the duty which is added in organization. This time, the start of duty task is started in compliance with an external or internal condition. If there are 9 tasks which have one objective, the relationship among the previous and the current internal tasks and next tasks which will given is able to show in logical model. Thus when planning an organization, the integral part of class must include Task, Role and Position. And this time we make a series of outputs of examination of organizing model and examples to meet the capable skill.

  • Today, for improvement of container terminal productivity, it is necessary to develop ACT(Automated Container Terminal) But, decision rules for conventional container terminals expose various limitations to be applied to ACT. Specially it is important fact to assignment of containers, because the character of ACT which block layout is vertical for berth. And then there is need which assignment of containers with remarshaling work using ATC(Automated Transfer Crane)s. The objective of this study is to provide the operation rules for remarshaling work in ACT. To analyze the proposed rules, the simulation is performed, and we show efficiency of remarshaling on various remarshaling operation rules.

  • $V_{2}O_{5}$ was tested as a p-dopant for lower operating voltage and higher stability of OLEDs. Low voltage and high stability were achieved using this doping layer. It can be separated to bulk and interface contributions and the latter is a more dominant factor both of operation voltage and stability.
