  • In this paper, A new tuning method for IMC-PID controller is proposed with the identification using the relay method from closed-loop transfer function. It is considered a second-order plus delay time(SOPDT) model and selected a third-order plus delay time transfer function model as a target function. The filter function is derived from the suitable target function to satisfy the design specifications. A robustness test was done to verify the robust-stability.

  • A two-dimensional optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) en/decoder composed of four double-ring resonator add/drop filters and three delay waveguides is designed, and a transfer matrix method combined with fast Fourier transform is implemented to provide numerical simulations for the en/decoder. The auto-correlation peak level over the maximum cross-correlation level is larger than 3 at the center of the correctly decoded pulse for most of wavelength hopping and spectral phase code combinations, which assures the BER lower than 10-3 which corresponds to the forward error correction limit.

  • Multiple types of information in a multimedia service are delivered though multiple virtual connections on ATM network, while each virtual connection may be controlled independently. A multimedia service requires an associative relationship among multiple information streams to provide required harmonization. There may be required additional traffic descriptors to guarantee the required harmonization among multiple information streams in a multimedia service. For buffering of large bandwidth information stream(e.g., video), extremely large buffer size is necessary, but this approach should not be efficient way to compensate a severely delayed cells/blocks experienced at network. The best way to solve this problem will be minimization of relative-delayed-transfer of cells/blocks to application processes through ATM network control. To minimize a delayed transfer the mapping between relative delay parameter(i.e., associative Group QoS parameters) and per-VC traffic descriptor will be necessary. This paper is present additional functions and parameters to interpret the mapping between relative delay parameters(i.e., associative Group QoS parameters) and per-VC traffic descriptors in ATM API for multimedia application services.

  • Delay time of receiving and delivery is one of important factors that should be considered in the evaluation of the customer service level of a container terminal. In this study, dispatching rules are tested with the objective of minimizing the service delay time for arriving outside trucks. A dynamic programming model is suggested for a static dispatching problem in which all the truck arrivals are known in advance. In order to overcome the excessive computational time of the dynamic programming technique, several heuristic rules are suggested that can be applied in practices. A simulation study is carried out to test the performances of the heuristic rules.

  • Automatic landing of UAVs receives increasing interest these days, with increasing number of the developed UAV systems. In this paper, a glidepath tracking algorithm of the subscale UAV was proposed and the performance was analyzed. Flight data analysis shows that the existing autolanding flight control algorithm has a classical type glidepath control. This paper presents an alternative glidepath tracking strategy based on embedded flight control law. The performance of the proposed strategy was investigated through the TDP(Touch Down Point) error analysis with regard to various flight environment: steady headwind, atmospheric disturbance, communication transfer delay. It was verified that the proposed glidepath tracking strategy can be successfully applied to the practical autolanding of UAV systems.

  • This paper proposes a frequency transfer function synthesis for simplifying a high-order model with time delay to a low-order model. The model reduction is based on minimizing the m function weighted by the numerator polynomial of reduced systems. The proposed methods provide a better fitness within low frequency. Four examples are given to illustrate the feasibilities of the suggested schemes.

  • Recently, as businesses and data types become more complex and diverse, efficient data analysis using machine learning is required. However, since communication in the cloud environment is greatly affected by network latency, data analysis is not smooth if information delay occurs. In this paper, SPT (Safe Proper Time) was applied to the cluster-based machine learning data analysis agent proposed in previous studies to solve this delay problem. SPT is a method of remotely and directly accessing memory to a cluster that processes data between layers, effectively improving data transfer speed and ensuring timeliness and reliability of data transfer.

  • The multi-user online game is a typical example of networked graphic applications. Increasing the reality of such a game requires the minimization of problems due to the network delay. In this paper, we propose a game architecture that reduces the network delay needed for message transfer, and a method for synchronization of game states in clients . The proposed game architecture is region proxy-based, and it can require a less network delay than a conventional client-server style that is usually used in commercial games. In our synchronization method, messages are processed in a batch-mode style and the number of rollbacks needed for synchronization significantly decreases. Our experiment shows that our method provides better performance than previous TSS (Trailing State Synchronization).

  • In order to analyze lateral control in the backward maneuver of a tractor -trailer combination , a kinematic vehicle model and a human operator model with time delay were utilized for the operator/vehicle system. The analysis was carried out using the frequency domain approach. The open-loop stability of the vehicle motion was analyzed through the transfer functions. The sensitivity of the stability of the vehicle motion. to a change in the steering angle, was also analyzed. A mathematical model of the closed -loop operator/vehicle system was then formulated. The closed -loop stability of the operator /vehicle system was then analyzed. The effect of the delay time on the system was also analyzed through computer simulation.

  • We propose a new recirculating fiber delay-line filter structure. In proposed system, we insert a fiber Bragg grating(FBG) into a recirculating fiber delay line and it operates as a partially reflection mirror. Therefore, the transfer function of the system is given by the recirculating delay output part and the multiple-reflected output part due to a FBG. By adjusting the parameters such as coupling coefficient, reflectivity of FBG, and gain, we can make the system operate in various filter.
