  • In mobile database system, transactions processing schemes address in ones using a static coordinator and coordinator migration. This apply coordinator migration mechanism which perform the transaction in new database server when posed to be the transaction service handoff. That apply static coordinator mechanism which perform the transaction in database server to begin the transaction when posed to be the transaction service handoff. In this paper, a scheme-independent simulation model has been developed in order to support comparative performance studies of mobile transaction processing schemes. And this paper describes the model in detail and presents simulation results which were obtained for what it believe to be the performance evaluation of the mobile transaction processing schemes. Finally, the mobile transaction processing schemes will improve system performance by minimizing the transmission of message for processing the transactions in mobile database system.

  • An atomic commitment protocol ensures that distributed transcations terminate consistently at participating sites. An atomic commitment protocol is said to be non-blocking if it permits transaction termination to proceed at correct participants despite of failure in the coordinator site and communication. It is well known that the famous two phase commit(2PC) is a blocking protocol, whereas the three phase commit(3PC) protocol is a non-blocking. In this paper, we propose a non-blocking two phase commit(NB-2PC) protocol reducing the blocking problem than propose non-blocking protocols. The NB-2PC protocol can be obtained through modifications of the 2PC protocol. After receiving Prepare message from coordinator in the NB-2PC protocol, participants respond to the coordinator and several participants in voting phase. While participants wait for decision message from the coordinator, the blocking occurs due to the failure of the coordinator site, participants elect new coordinator among several participants receive response message. Despite of the coordinator site failures, participants consult new coordinator and follow termination protocols and achieve non-blocking property. We propose a basic structure of NB-2PC protocol and termination protocol and new coordinator election protocol. The NB-2PC protocol has non-blocking property and reduces processing time of commit protocol than the 3PC protocol. Also, through simulation experiments, we propose the NB-2PC protocol exhibits better performance of processing time of commit protocol than 3PC protocol.

  • Mobile database system address information processing based on database system in mobile computing environment. In the mobile database system, when a mobile transaction host enter a other radio coverage area called a cell while processing a transaction, it have to alter the communication network address to new database server. This is called transactional service handoff. This paper propose a transaction processing scheme for providing the proper function of this transactional service handoffs in mobile database system. This scheme apply coordinator migration mechanism which perform the transaction in new database server when posed to be the transaction service handoff. Fially, the proposed scheme will improve system performance by minimizing the tansmission of message for processing the transactions in mobile database system.

  • Timely management is an important activity in long running transactions. This can be seen in many Supply Chain scenarios where insufficient time management could lead to expensive compensations. Therefore, effective strategy for timely management in long running transactions is needed. In this paper, we propose our solution to detect and avoid violating deadline based on a comparison strategy of predicted complete time and required deadline. Three approaches are used. Firstly, we build Open Nested Transaction Model (ONTM) where deadline of top-level transactions are managed through a flexible time adjustment of lower level transactions. Secondly, workflow is introduced to WSTransaction framework which supports the algorithm to predict complete time and spot delaying activities. Thirdly, a rule-based coordinator is developed to decide the confirmation or cancelation of participants' ongoing activities. We also discuss a workflow example for implementation.

  • This research is a byproduct of a project initiated by a major airport in Korea. The airport aimed to enhance airside safety and weighed a few IT options that may strengthen its current safety practices. In order to satisfy requirements unique to the airport and to inherit existing legacy systems, a PCS-based mobile database system was proposed. We first discuss technical aspects of the system as well as design issues in mobile systems before we compare two specific alternatives for transactional service handoff. A simulation study comparing two types of coordination follows before we present a scheme that manages transaction processing and locating service in mobile environments. Finally, we discuss the limitations of the scheme from the perspectives of the airport in question along with other research issues.

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) comes to be implemented into architectural design, construction, and maintenance in Japan in order to convert design information thoughout a construction project. However, various problems are taking place in data transaction. It is not also clear about the role and the responsibility of the architects and the enginners in charge. There is a movement to establish a BIM manager as a general coordinator concerning BIM in Singapore and other countries, though it is not yet popular in Japan. This paper deals a BIM manager as a new profession in a construction project. The function and skills necessary to a BIM manager is analyzed, and the strategy of Japanese general contractors is discussed. General contractors from Japan are operating BIM in Singapore compatible with open system of supply chain. This style is different from the one in Japan even they belong to the same company. In this paper it is analyzed based on the survey in detail.
