Nowadays, road transportation which has played a key role in the market of both passenger and freight transportation is facing with a serious problem, the traffic congestion causing a delay of transportation. Therefore, railroad transportation is considered as an attractive alternative mode of inland transportation due to its inherent merits in mass transportation such as relatively low cost compared with road transportations, less air pollution and noise than other mode ets. In this paper, therefore, we examine the current situation of railroad transportation markets including TKR(Trans- Korean Railway}, TSR(Trans-Siberian Railway} and prospects for the connection of TKR-TSR. And then we examine the structure of the container transportation market by railroad in Korea with a brief analysis of the traffic volume of TKR-TSR.

2007년 12월 11일 마침내 경의선 문산-봉동(판문)간 화물열차가 개통됐다. 이는 지난 1951년 경의선 운행이 중단된 지 56년만의 역사적인 사건으로서, 남북간의 철도연결은 한반도 물류동맥이 부활된다는 것이며, 나아가 중국과 몽골, 시베리아횡단철도 등 대륙철도 물류인프라의 구축이 시작됨을 의미하는 중요한 사건이다. 이것은 또한 UNESCAP에 의해 진행중인 TAR 북부노선의 확립을 위한 계획안중의 하나로서, 본연구에서는 대륙횡단철도의 연계노선 국가인 북한, 러시아, 중국철도현황과 남북철도 개통이후 향후 개선 과제 등을 검토, 남북철도의 원활한 운행과 대륙철도망과의 조속한 연계를 추진하여 TAR북부노선을 가능한 빨리 완성하는 것이다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 대륙철도연결을 위한 북한철도의 중장기 개량방안과 중국 및 러시아의 국제철도 운송로 발전전략을 파악하고, 대륙철도 및 남북철도의 활성화를 위한 국내철도의 인프라시설 대응방안 등을 보다 구체적으로 검토하여 TAR 북부노선의 조속한 확립을 검토하고자 한다.

Recently in Korea, noise is one of the most important social issues because the living standard becomes more higher. Railway noise is also annoying one in our society, although railway has very positive role in our country. The major measures for mitigation of railway noise in Korea are rail welding and installation of noise barrier on the noisy area. But these measures have its own limit for the calm and comfortable living environment. In Europe the railway noise problem has been treated more systematically and aggressively, there has been emission noise standard for Trans-European rail network. In this paper, the trend of noise standard for railway vehicles will be reported and the check point for our country will be discussed.

The primary objective of this paper is to investigate the corridor of Eurasia High-Speed Railway Network from the governmental view of the Republic of Korea, whose High-Speed Train has been recently operated. The country is also expected to figure out the changes of Eurasia infrastructure system under the assumption that Trans-Korean Railway is connected to the Continent. As a result of research, the corridor connecting the TKR to TSR seems to be more attractive to the Republic of Korea than that of the TKR-TCR under the current economic and operational environments. However, even in a case, the railway linkage through the TSR between Europe and Asia should remain a supplementary means of the sea transportation route. Lastly, TSR may need a program of structural reforms, in order to continuously provide preferable services like the Pan-European Transport Network (PETN) which is currently initiated by the European Union, such as to improve outdated infrastructure (railway, bridges, signal systems, etc.), to simplify and to standardize the process of custom clearance and internal tariffs, and ultimately to construct a uniform management system for the corridor linking the TKR to TSR.

To operate a border station between South and North Korea is one of the most important tasks for the future inter-Korean railway transportation. Currently, North Korea and China are operating three border stations each. Among them, a Dandong-Sinuiju route handles the most amount of transport volume and can be a model for the operation of South-North Korean border station. This Study is to suggest an efficient way of operating the planned South-North Korean border station and international railway transportation via the station. To that end, operation system at the border station between Chinese Dandong and North Korean Sinuiju was analyzed and the Train Operation Agreement made by the two Koreas was studied.

The number of parameters and the number of samples are the key point of trans-log cost function which studied recently. Most of models show that the number of parameters is more than the number of samples. Therefore, these studies gave unreliability of the estimation results. First, we surveyed theoretical cases and researches for the formulation of cost function of railroad industry. Second, we will suggest trans-log cost function by analyzing cost data of KNR. And, the cumulative data will be needed for the confidence of estimation results.

This paper studied technical investigation of effective operation and methodology for technical combination in south and north korea. For harmonious transportation on railroad system, the system of trans-korea railroad investigated on each part(system, Rolling stock, Cartenary ＆ Electricity, Signal and Track etc). Though it isn't show many difference on railroad system, we can show some difference on rolling stock, track and signaling system. For the effective and competitive operation on south and north korea, Many problem investigated and proposed alternative proposal for selecting of rolling stock(diesel or electric), track and signaling improving for speed-up and compatible system at AC and DC system.

Transportation routes by land like a human being blood vessel should exist for economic and trade exchange in Northeast Asia. Thinking from this point of view. I believe that TSR(Trans Siberian Railroad) and TCR(Trans Chinese Railroad). which will be connected with I would like to talk about .not only the effects of various international railroads and their connections but also economic activation TKR(Trans Korean Railroad). can play important roles. In this study, and effects in Northeast Asia which will be resulted from various international railroads construction. I tried to figure out comparative superiority and comparative advantage of the trade structure and industries in South and North Korea to find out the possibility of economic unification in East Asia. especial1y in Northeast Asia. This study also includes the effort to find out how trade exchange between South and North Korea can be expanded as a result of being a member of East Asia economic zone.

Purpose - This study investigated competitive counteractions necessary for continuous growth in a rapidly changing logistics environment in Northeast Asia. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - Using a time series analysis, the study first investigated Northeast Asian trade scale and volume by examining online and offline material from the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries, Busan Port Authority, and other government agencies. A literature survey was done to investigate the state and prospect of the logistics environment in Northeast Asia including changes in freight volume at major ports in the three Northeast Asian countries. Result - The results of the study suggest using the Trans-Korean Railroad (TKR), as well as promoting the North Pole and South Pole routes, to compete against changes in trade volume and the logistics environment in Northeast Asia. A SWOT analysis was done to examine the effectiveness of these strategies. Conclusions - The findings indicate that the TKR impact, using the Busan Port connecting the Trans-China Railway (TCR), the Trans-Siberian (TSR), and the North Pole Route, may be uncertain in practice considering the uncertainty in international politics.
