철도차량 운행속도에 따른 기관사의 인지과정 분석 (Cognitive Process of Railway Drivers at Different Speeds)

  • The objective of this study is to verify the hypothesis that cognitive process of railway drivers would be influenced by train speed. The hypothesis is tested by investigating railway drivers' cognitive processes at different speeds of a locomotion. The experiment shows that human performance of railway drivers decreases as the train speed becomes faster. In addition, simple signals outperformed complex signals at every train speed. Therefore, it is suggested to redesign complex signals simpler for improving drivers' human performance. It is also recommended that the Korean railway safety law should be revised to mention requirement of the signal design, especially for the fastest train including KTX. The implications of the experiments are discussed in detail.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the whole-vibration of the subway drivers. Measurement, evaluation and assessment were based on the ISO 2631. When the vibration levels of the drivers are compared with the health guidance caution zones of the ISO 2631, those of the drivers of the rail maintenance train and the number 3 subway line exceed the limit of the health guidance zones, while those of the drivers of other subway lines drivers are below the limit. This indicates that the rail maintenance train drivers are exposed to potential health risks.

  • 도심 통근용 지하철은 출퇴근시간에 기관사 한 사람이 맡고 있는 인원이 약3,000명 이상에 달하여 비상상황 발생 시 기관사의 조치 능력에 따라 수많은 사람들의 생명과 재산이 좌우된다. 2003년 2월 대구지하철 화재 참사 이래 철도에서의 안전 확보가 사회문제화되어 이를 개선하고자 2004년 10월 철도안전법이 제정되고 철도종사자의 핵심인 기관사의 면허제가 도입되어 2006년 7월부터 시행되었다. 본 연구는 기관사 면허제가 시행되어 8년이 지난 이 시점에서 운전업무에 종사하는 기관사들과 이들 상급자들의 인식조사를 통하여 기관사 면허제의 시행효과를 경험적으로 규명해보고자 한다. 또한, 통계 분석을 통하여 면허제의 시행효과를 더 높일 수 있는 방안들을 찾아 정책적 제안을 하고자 한다.

  • This study highlights the theme of human error of train drivers, conducting empirical analysis on the relationship between organizational culture, safety climates, safety behavior, and accident. The empirical test results based on questionnaires received from 223 train drivers working at A subway firm indicated that relationship conflict and psychological reward as the elements of organizational culture variables showed a significant positive effect on CEO philosophy, communication, and boss's leadership. And only boss's leadership showed a positive influence on safety behavior, which in turn showed a significant negative relationship with accidents.

  • This study highlights the theme of human error of train drivers, conducting empirical analysis on the relationship between emergency stress, psychological fatigue, safety behavior, and accident. The hypothetical test results based on questionnaires received from 223 train drivers working at A subway firm indicate that emergency stress shows a significant positive effect on psychological fatigue, which in turn shows a significant negative influence on safety behavior. And safety behavior is shown having a significant negative relationship with accident. These results suggest the necessity of corporate-level approaches to depict the drastic causes of drivers' emergency stress, and to effectively manage this stress, as well as the necessity of making effort to enhance safety behavior, and to prevent or reduce accidents.

철도기관사의 사고, 우울감, 인지실패 간의 인과관계 검증 (The Verification of Causality among Accident, Depression, and Cognitive Failure of the Train Drivers)

  • 본 연구는 철도기관사에 의해 유발되는 사고와 우울감 및 인지실패 간의 관계를 '우울감 ${\rightarrow}$ 인지실패 ${\rightarrow}$ 사고'의 인과관계로 접근하는 연구모형 1과 '사고 ${\rightarrow}$ 우울감 ${\rightarrow}$ 인지실패'의 인과관계로 접근하는 연구모형 2로 설정하고 어느 모형이 타당한지를 구조방정식 모형으로 검증하였다. 현직 철도기관사 416명의 설문응답 유효데이터를 토대로 검증한 결과 후자의 연구모형, 즉 '사고 ${\rightarrow}$ 우울감 ${\rightarrow}$ 인지실패'의 인과관계에서 사고가 우울감을 매개로 하여 사고에 영향을 미친다는 점에서 모형 2가 통계적으로 타당하다는 결론을 도출하였다. 이 같은 연구결과는 인적오류와 관련하여 사고와 우울감의 인과관계 측면에서 접근하고 제도적인 개선방안을 함께 모색할 때 궁극적으로 기관사의 실수와 인지실패를 저감시킴으로써 인지실패로 인한 사고와 인적 오류의 확률을 그만큼 저감할 수 있다는 것을 시사한다.

친환경 에너지 절약을 위한 열차운전 최적화 연구 (A Study on the Train Operation Optimization for Energy Saving)

  • In line with the expansion of electric railway, reducing carbon emission and optimal train operation are required by economical, eco-friendly and efficient management. Most of the energy consumption in electric railway is consumed by train operation. So it is important that minimize the energy consumption in train operation. An analysis of the operation performance of the new model vehicle which in South Korea, Korail introduced shows that the energy consumption is different in line with the skill level of the engine driver. In this study, the know-how of train operation of a skilled engine driver is systematized by using artificial intelligence, and the technique which supports engine drivers with train operation was offered. As a result of applying in South Korea, the Gyeongbu line by using simulation, it confirmed that the maximum 20% can reduce the energy consumption in comparison with unskilled engine drivers in case of applying the Expert System.

  • Using composite materials for lilting train system has many advantages such as manufacturing variety, specific high-strength & stiffness characteristics, and long-life durability, but the strongest advantage could be the possibility of lightweight product. In the leading countries, the composite materials are used for the material fer drivers' cabs, interior/exterior equipments for railway train, and it is now developing the composite materials applied for the train car body structure. In this paper, we examine the use of composite materials for the drivers' cabs and interior/exterior equipments for the developing tilting train in Korea, and review the car body design using composite materials.

  • 우리나라 기관사 적성검사제도는 1971년부터 유지되어 왔고 2006년 철도안전법으로 일부 개정되었으나 큰 틀은 변하지 않았다. 본 논문은 현행 우리나라 철도 기관사 적성검사 세부항목에 대해 안전과 관련된 중요도를 분석하여 향후 적성검사제도의 개선에 도움이 되고자 하는 것이 목적이다.

  • The launch of KTX (Korea Train Express) has brought the changes of people's life. People can get more time to work or enjoy leisure comfortably because the transfer time is decreased. According to these changes, the role of normal trains and express trains' drivers is getting more important. The purpose of this study is to suggest the advanced vision of Korean railway through comparing the domestic driver's qualification requirements of normal trains and express trains with international ones which are more developed.
