RF 통신시스템을 이용한 열차 운행중단 및 열차 지연의 최소화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Minimization of Train Delays and Train Operation Interruptions by RF Transmission System.)

  • To minimize the train operation interruptions and train exchanges, the RF transmission system is proposed. The current control room of the Seoul Metro has information of the train movement through the Total Traffic Control System, but it does not have information of the train itself, rail status, and other facilities' status. When some trouble occurs during train operation, the train crews should report the control room about the trouble and fix it. If the control room has exact information of the trouble, the expert in the control room can help the crews to fix the trouble swiftly and exactly. Since the crews are busy taking care of the trouble, they often miss to report the control room on time. The proposed RF transmission system relays the information of the train to the control room automatically in real time, and makes it possible to provide the passengers good service by reducing the train operation interruptions and train exchanges.

  • CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) System has many superior train control performances than conventional track-circuit-based train control system with higher train operation efficiency, and less installation and maintenance cost. It is expected that CBTC will replace the conventional train control systems in near future. As CBTC has different mechanisms from conventional track-circuit-based train control systems in identifying train positions, and communicating information between train and ground facility, we have to pay a carful attention to making the interface between CBTC equipments and other signalling devices. This paper provides the construction of the interface between CBTC train-born equipment and other train control equipments including ATO, TCMS, brake controller, door controller.

  • Nowadays, the technology development of communication and system engineering should impact on the Train Control System(TCS). The one of main developments in TCS is the Communication Based Train Control(CBTC), which does not depend on the track circuit. Currently, there are the project to modernize TCS as CBTC system from the track circuit system around the world. In Korea, there are the new CBTC system revenue projects such as Busan-Gimhae LRT, Sin-Bundang Line, and so on. There is also Government project called Maglev Line in Daejeon, which is applied CBTC system. Through the examples of world TCS renovation, it is expected to modernize the track circuit TCS system as CBTC system in Korea. Therefore, we would express the advantage of developing from the traditional TCS system to CBTC TCS system.

  • As a train control system becomes a large scale and complex, it is necessary to control rigorously the system requirements specification of the train control system at the early phase. This paper describes Use Cases and activity diagrams of ATS functions requirements in the train control system. Basic functions of the train control system refers to IEC 62290-land are suggested. And the basic functions includes train operation without a driver. It is anticipated that this paper will be helpful for the analysis of ATS functions, ATO functions and EI function in the train control system.

  • 열차제어시스템은 지상 전기 중심에서 차상 통신 중심으로 변화하고 있다. 최신의 열차제어시스템인 CBTC 시스템은 차상과 지상시스템 간 양방향 무선통신을 기반으로 높은 간격제어 효율을 가진다. 하지만 지상이 제어의 중심이 되고 있기 때문에 하나의 지상시스템이 허용할 수 있는 열차 투입 대수가 제한되고 차상과 지상제어시스템 간 cyclic-path 제어흐름으로 인해 운전시격 단축에 한계를 가진다. 본 논문은 열차자율주행제어시스템을 위한 간격제어와 차상중심 분산형 연동 알고리즘을 제안한다. 열차자율주행제어시스템은 차상에서 간격제어와 함께 분기제어를 수행하므로 선로와 분기기는 공유자원인 동시에 세마포어 요소이다. 제안된 열차자율주행기반 간격제어는 지상 제어시스템의 제어명령에 의존하지 않고 열차와 열차 또는 선로변 설비와의 직접적인 무선통신을 통해 열차 간격제어를 수행한다. 제안된 연동 알고리즘은 공유자원인 선로전환기가 동시에 두 대 이상의 열차가 점유하지 못하도록 선로전환기 고유 key를 이용한 세마포어 기법을 새롭게 정의한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 열차자율주행제어시스템의 향상된 간격제어 성능을 확인하며, 차상중심 분산형 연동알고리즘과 기존의 연동장치에서 수행하던 여러 연동논리를 비교함으로써 단순화된 연동알고리즘으로 안전한 열차제어가 가능함을 확인한다.

  • The train control system is a facility to ensure safe train operation, and its safety is the most important factor for system introduction. Therefore, in order to improve practical usability in the business, safety analysis and evaluation of train control system and train control related core technologies are needed. Korea Railroad Research Institute has carried out standard development of radio-based train control system as a government research and development project. In this paper, we present a system specification of ATP, a core part of train control system, for standard system of Korean radio-based train control system(KRTCS). The paper present a operation environment and primary ATP functions, and functional requirement specifications.

  • As a result of the advancement of radio communications technologies, some investigations are in progress to apply this technologies to a train control system. Most of these investigations are focused on the train safety distance control between a preceding train and a succeeding train, an interlocking system uses train circuits to control the railway path. To make the best use of advantages and improve the safety of radio communications based train control systems, the interlocking system must use radio communications technologies. And the safety level of this system must be equal to track circuit based interlocking systems. This paper describes the train location detection method, the system configuration and the system safety of the new system.

  • The automatic/driverless operation which are great important techniques in metro railway are required to increase higher safety, greater reliability, and transport capacity. To satisfy such demands, we must have the system design and testing technique for the railway system operation. These techniques are related to the onboard train control and communication systems which include TCMS(Train Control and Monitoring System), ATO(Automatic Train Operation), ATC(Automatic Train Control), and TWC(Train to Wayside Communication). These sub-systems must be interfacing with not only each others but also the signal system on the ground. We tested the train control system on Test line that has been developed on the basis of the standardized type EMU for korea railway systems. This test line which is located in Sangju, have been constructed for testing 7 & 8 line of Seoul Metro railway.

  • The safety of the railway system is important because the system is a mass transit system and the results of the accident are inconceivable. The railway system is operated by train operation system such as train control system. So the train control system requires safety critical characteristics. In the European railway, ETCS (European Train Control System) project has been finished to accomplish the interoperability of each national railway signaling system. According to the interoperability degree, ETCS levels are suggested. As the highest level, ETCS level 3 suggests a radio communication. Also recently urban railway system is operated by driverless and automatic train control system. In this circumstance, more safety is required than before in the railway system. In order to accomplish the safety of a system, the requirements considering safety have to be suggested. The requirement is a set of several functions such as general function, environment, safety etc. For the safety critical system, safety function is more important than any other functions. The safety functions are deduced by safety analysis. In order to perform the safety analysis, the system hazards have to be identified and then risk analysis for each hazard should be performed. The risk is related to the frequency and the severity of each hazard. And then countermeasures for each risk have to be prepared. The summary of the countermeasures is about a kind of safety functions in a system. In this paper, the safety functions for a train control system are presented according to the above procedure.
