In this paper, we propose a new scheme which improves the IP address lookup time. The new scheme is composed of two core technologies, named the prefix alignment and the prefix distance ordering. Now, as the Internet is being used commonly by improving the data transmission capacity, the need for enlarging the bandwidth of the Internet is on the rise. IP address lookup performance problem is an important obstacle in the router executing high speed packet forwarding. This results from the fact that the prefixes routing table is composed of and the traffic being processed in unit time are largely on the increase. The proposed lookup scheme is divided into two parts in technology, the one is the algorithm forming a routing database(routing table), the other is the lookup procedure in the actual packet processing.

This paper discusses multiple access control aspects for a wireless extension of high-speed asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) networks. One challenging requirement is that mobile systems convey of diverse types of information including voice, computer data, facsimile, and video data that have different quality of service constraints. Basically, a centralized control scheme for a coordinated multiple access is required in order to efficiently accommodate multimedia traffic on wireless links. The proposed scheme dynamically scheduling the mobile terminal, which has data to transfer according to the service, types at base station. In this scheme, the scheduling algorithm is performed on the basis of traffic descriptors and QoS parameters, which required in the connection set up phase. As a consequence, the transmission scheduling is very flexible and can account for the different traffic rate and delay constraints that emerge from voice and data integration. The simulation result shows that the proposed scheme has better performance over other scheduling algorithms.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive power control scheme employing a self-optimization concept in femtocell systems, in order to improve system capacity, thereby reducing call-drop probability. In the proposed scheme, each femto base station(FBS) controls individual channel's transmission power base on two parameters; the neighboring cell's transmission power for each individual channel which is delivered from a femto-gateway and the received power strength from neighboring cells which is periodically measured by means of a spectrum sensing. Adaptive adjustment of individual channel's transmission power in accordance with femto mobile station(FMS) mobility features can also reduce undesirable handovers and evenly distribute traffic load over all femtocells. In addition, the manipulative control of channel's transmission power is able to keep the system coverage and the call-drop probability within an acceptable range, regardless of density of femtocells. Computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme outperforms existing schemes in terms of the system coverage and the call-drop probability.

In this paper, we analyze the pros and cons of the fast power control to the forward link in the environments where mixed traffics of voice and data produce the transmitted/received power difference. We propose the Zone-based power control scheme that can improve the performance of the fast power control scheme in the viewpoint of the resource allocation. The proposed scheme is a mechanism that controls both the power and rate of non-realtime data traffics according to location distribution of the mobile stations. The scheme is based on the conventional fast power control scheme in the CDMA systems, and it adaptively controls the transmission rate of each data traffic. Zone-based rate control of data call brings about somewhat power margin to the call. As a result, the proposed scheme saves the power consumption of portables and reduces the amount of interference. With the proposed scheme, not only be extended the service coverage of high-rate traffic to the entire cell service coverage, but also the QoS of low-rate traffic can keep going through the service time, especially, in the situation that the amount of incoming interference is much larger. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme yields a improved performance compared with the conventional scheme in terms of the power consumption and traffic throughput of portables, especially, with the increasing number of high-rate data traffics.
This paper proposes an energy efficient adaptive relay station ON/OFF scheme with different frequency reuse factors (FRFs) to enhance the system throughput and reduce the transmission energy consumption for the transparent mode of 2-hop cellular relay networks (CRNs) based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access and time division duplex. In the proposed scheme, the base station turns on or off the relay stations (RSs) when they are overutilized and undertuilized based on the traffic density of the cell coverage, respectively. Through the simulation results, we show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional CRN in terms of the energy consumption with the same system throughput. Further, in order to increase the system throughput with low energy consumption, the best way is FRF 1 when the number of operating RSs is up to 4 and FRF 2 otherwise.

TPSN(Timing-sync Protocol for Sensor Networks), the representative of time synchronization protocol for WSN(wireless sensor networks), was developed to provide higher synchronization accuracy and energy efficiency. So, TPSN's approach has been referenced by so many other WSN synchronization schemes till now. However, TPSN has a collision problem due to simultaneous transmission among competing nodes, which causes more network convergence delay for a network-wide synchronization. A Polling-based scheme for TPSN is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme not only shortens network-wide synchronization time of TPSN, but also reduce collision traffic which lead to needless power consumption. The proposed scheme's performance has been evaluated and compared with an original scheme by simulation. The results are shown to be better than the original algorithm used in TPSN.
Network of these days, A transmission medium of information is replaced from electric signal to optical signal to accept various and increased network traffic. In this paper, we develop simulation program using AweSim and simulate EPON system as a high-speed optical subscriber network with various conditions. The effects of number of ONUs, effects of network load and effects of slot assignment schemes have been evaluated. The simulation results show that slot assignment schemes and number of ONUs is major factor of network performance. The variable-number slot scheme is more efficient than fixed-length slot scheme in the traffic processing.
Streaming protocol with the Available Bandwidth measurement scheme has problems that are to measure a Available Bandwidth uncorrectly and slowly. In this basis, in order to overcome limitations of the previous streaming protocols, we propose the NABO that is a New Available Bandwidth measurement scheme used by OWD(One-Way Delay). Proposed NABO(New Available Bandwidth measurement based on OWD) measures the constant transmission delay occurred by bottleneck link capacity and the variable delay. Competing traffic contribute to the variable delay. Through the measurement of the constant transmission delay and the competing traffic, a NABO can measure the Available Bandwidth correctly and fast in network. The simulation result proves that the proposed NABO has a performance that satisfies both accuracy viewpoint and measurement speed viewpoint.

In high speed communication networks, the determination of a transmission rate is critical for the stability of a closed-loop network system with the congestion control scheme. In ATM networks, the available bit rate (ABR) service is based on a feedback mechanism, i.e., the network status is transferred to the ABR source by a resource management (RM) cell. RM cells contain the traffic information of the downstream nodes for the traffic rate control. However, the traffic status of the downstream nodes can not be directly transferred to the source node in the IP based networks. In this paper, a new rate-based congestion control scheme using an exponential weighted moving average algorithm is proposed to build an efficient feedback control law for congestion avoidance in high speed communication networks. The proposed congestion control scheme assures the stability of switch buffers and higher link utilization of the network. Moreover, we note that the proposed congestion scheme can flexibly work along with the increasing number of input sources in the network, which results in an improved scalability.
In wireless personal area networks (WPANs), the successful design of channel time allocation algorithm is a key factor in guaranteeing the various quality of service (QoS) requirements for the stringent real-time constraints of multimedia services. In this paper we propose a channel time allocation algorithm for achieving a high quality transmission and high channel error tolerance of MPEG stream in the IEEE 802.15.3 high-rate wireless PANs. Our algorithm exploits the characteristics of MPEG stream. When a new MPEG stream arrives, a DEV models it by the traffic envelope and delivers the traffic envelope to the piconet coordinator (PNC) along with the channel time request. The PNC performs channel time allocation according to the envelope. Performance of the proposed scheme is investigated by simulation and analysis. Our results show that compared to conventional scheme, the proposed scheme is very effective and provides a good performance under typical channel error conditions.
