Background: The objective of this study was to determine the practice of skin cancer prevention among Malaysian road traffic police officers. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 202 Malaysian Road Police Traffic officers. Inclusion criteria were those officers who work wearing white uniform regulating traffic. The survey took place at the Police Traffic Station, Jln Tun H.S. Lee, Kuala Lumpur, the main Head Quarters of Malaysian's Traffic Department where almost 600 police traffic officers are employed. The police traffic officers are given the task to take care of the traffic from the main office of the police station, then, according to the task, the officers drive to their given location for their duty. Each task is approved by the Chief Traffic Inspector of Kuala Lumpur. Data collected in this study were analyzed using SPSS 13, with the T-test for univariate analysis and multiple linear regression for multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 202 road traffic police officers participated. The majority were older than 30 years of age, male, Malay, married, with secondary education, with monthly income more than 2000 Ringgit Malaysia (66.3%, 91.1%, 86.6%, 84.7%, 96%, 66.3%; respectively). Regarding the practice of skin cancer prevention, 84.6% of the study participants were found to wear hats, 68.9% sunglasses and 85.6% clothing that covering most of the body but only 16.9% used a sunscreen when they were outdoors. When analysis of the factors that influenced the practice of skin cancer prevention was performed, univariate analysis revealed that gender, age and monthly income significantly influenced the practice of skin cancer prevention. For multivariate analysis, gender, monthly income and race significantly influenced the practice of using sunscreen among road traffic police officers (p<0.001, p=0.019, p=0.027; respectively). Conclusions: The practice of skin cancer prevention among the traffic police officers showed good practices in terms of wearinga hat, sun glasses and clothing that covers most of the body. However, the study revealed a poor practice of the use of sunscreen. The factors that influence the practice of sunscreen use were found to be gender, income, and race. The study suggests that more awareness campaign among traffic police officers is needed. Providing sunscreen for free for police traffic officers should be considered by the Police authorities.

Such duties should be accurately performed based on legal and democratic procedures because the works of the police are directively influencing the overall lives of the citizens by restricting their freedom. The national police agency is setting up the figure of the police trusted and beloved by citizens. The strategies of police reform is to recognize the proposition of 'change the mind and you will see the bright future' and the historical mission of 'It is possible to survive only through the reform'. We are frequently watching the traffic police on the street or road. Traffic policing aims to reduce crime and the opportunities for criminal activity in relation to the use of roads, that is to improve road user behavior in order to reduce accidents. This study examines perceptions of drivers on the traffic police. For this purpose, this study surveys the opinion and view of drivers in Andong city based on the survey research and interview methods. The major findings of this study is as follows. Many drivers in Andong city evaluate negatively the kindness toward civilians, fair(rational) law enforcement of traffic police. So, this study suggests the improvement of the traffic police image.(for example, kindness toward civilians, service attitude, fair and rational law enforcement, etc)

Directorate of Traffic of the Regional Police D.I. Yogyakarta as part of the Indonesian Republic Police (Polri) institution also experiences problems related to the performance of police members as well as the Polri institution in general. The problems which relate to the police performance are influenced by various factors such as low compensation and as a result low motivation in the work environment of Directorate of Traffic of the Regional Police D.I. Yogyakarta. Therefore, the objective of this study is to empirically test and prove the effect of the work environment and compensation on work motivation and police performance of Directorate of Traffic of the Regional Police D.I. Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This study used a survey method for collecting data. By using proportional stratified random sampling, 143 members of Directorate of Traffic of the Regional Police D.I. Yogyakarta were selected as the respondents. The results of this study indicate that work environment has a positive effect on work motivation, police performance as well as compensation on work motivation and police performance. In addition, work motivation has a positive effect on police performance. Thus, this study concludes that work motivation mediates the effect of work environment and compensation on police performance.
By materials of traffic safety public corporation, from 2007. 1. 1 to 2007 12. 31, for a year. traffic accidents took place in korea were 211,662 accidents. By this 6,166 people were death, and 335,906 people were wounded. In Gwangju metropolitan city, in 2007 year, 7,881 accidents took place and 152 people were death and 12,728 peoples were wounded, in 2008 year, 8,231 accidents took place and 138 people were death and 13,533 people were wounded. Death people reduced but accidents numbers were in creased 4.4%. Meanwhile, government did various traffic policies to reduce traffic accident. But still, disgrace of underdeveloped country in traffic division couldn't take off. Moreover, traffic safety unconcern of general country people are very deficient. In this research, as the basis of Gwangju province police agency, in traffic accident the present state, I am' going to analyse the part of directly related to citizen life and centering death accident and to present traffic police activities for prevention of traffic accidents.

The purpose of this study is to analysis a type characteristics of traffic accident change, such as number of deaths and wounded persons by the time, the vehicle, the type the road, the age group. Based on the characteristics of traffic accident change, traffic accident countermeasures are proposed, in which some variable of traffic policies such as traffic facilities, traffic regulation, and traffic safety education.
Traffic police officers are faced with many dangerous accidents due to outside duties on roads. Yet, researches on traffic officers' uniforms have mainly been focused on design aspects rather than functional aspects. This study therefore aims to figure out traffic officers' perceived needs for their uniforms and to offer some basic guidelines in manufacturing versatile safety vests for wearers. The study used a documentary survey replied by 236 traffic officers. The results of the study are as follows: 1. There are 10 different types of vests currently used by traffic officers. Vests are employed for purposes such as carrying police equipments, enabling officers to be noticeable in dark, protecting the body, etc. 2. Officers wear these vests which were officially designated by law. Among them, fluorescence versatile safety vests were most frequently worn by officers. 3. Officers who wore ready-made vests of which size was already determined, tended to perceive that the vests were relatively larger than their own size. 4. In terms of the functions of the vests, officers expressed needs for the improvement of the LED and retro-reflection tape along with the addition of thermal function to existing vests. The improvement of the form and functions of versatile safety vests which reflect needs of the users will boost the dignity and the sense of duty of the traffic police officers.
Modern society often faces 3Cs:change, competition, and customer. The main issue of today's police science study, therefore, circles around how public police effectively cope with the radically changed environment. As one of the workable and appealing policy tools to reform the police, the privatization has been not only strongly supported in terms of a theoretical study, but also widely used in practice all over the world. However, Policing has been widely regarded as an exclusively public-sector activity conducted by sworn officer, but a large and increasing share of the aggregate demand for public safety and security is being handled by the private sector. This study examines on the very practical one, how contracting out, most widely used as the privatization alternatives, is perceived and put into practiced in the field of traffic police services. This study is intended to examine recent shifts toward privatization of traffic policing. Although some people regard police services as inappropriate for privatization, most everyone else have persuasively considered that many police services are not public goods or, at least, not pure public goods. We can consider that there are three types of privatization with respect to traffic policing, that is, user-financed police services, contracting out, and some degree of service shedding. As society changes, so must traffic policing. And it is needed to enhance the ability of traffic police and private to accomplish their primary mission, to serve and protect the public.
One of the major tasks of a Police station is the management of road traffic accidents. Each police station is responsible for keeping Traffic Accident Records (TAR) which can be used as the basis of statistical analyses. Results of such statistical analyses have been applied to establishing effective traffic Plans and safety Policies at the macro level. In this Paper, we apply QFD in a way that each police station can set and implement specific policies according to the local characteristics. Cluster analysis is employed to find black spots in each local area. Poisson repression is used to identify the area specific factors related to various types of road accidents. Results of such statistical analyses are applied to QFD. Our approach is expected to contribute to reduce various types of area specific road traffic accidents.
The present study explored the major behavior patterns of drivers and the environmental settings having an effect on traffic accident using the data collected from drivers and traffic police. Drivers and traffic police read questionnaire which contain the passible causes of traffic accident and selected the major causes on the basis of their latest accidents. Unexperienced drivers were forced to answer the questionnaire by referring to their friends and neighborhoods. The results showed that the major causes of traffic accident were connected with the driver's factors. The most important cause of traffic accidents was inattention/incautiousness. The next were lack of competence, skill, and experience. One interesting fact was that drivers and traffic police attributed differently. Drivers pointed out the lack of ability coping with an emergency and the insufficient skill of defensive driving as causes of the traffic accident. On the other hand, traffic polices indicated the intentional violations such as the disregard for traffic rules, trespassing on the central line of the roadway, speed limit violation, and breaking into the vehicle's line. The implications for appling the this results to driver education institutions were discussed.

According to the recent statistics of Korean National Police which analyze the present status on the rate of the traffic accidents and their effects in Korea, the number of casualties by traffic accidents of 2004 amounted to 6,563, which means that the average number of casualties per 10,000 vehicles is 3.99. The figure of 3.99 is much larger than 1.85 of U.S.A, 1.10 of Japan, 1.14 of U.K., and 1.23 of Germany. The number of registered vehicles of Korea is steeply increasing since 1997 when it reached 10,000,000. Since then, the number of annual increase is estimated at 860,000 except for the year 1998 when the Korean economy was under the control of IMF, and over 14 million vehicles are registered as of the end of the year 2004. With the increase of vehicles, the violations of traffic rules, crimes using vehicles, car thefts, etc have been imposing a lot of serious problems on our society. On this thesis, we are aiming at analyzing some characteristics of traffic accidents reported to the police and suggesting some kinds of the police activities for securing the safety of the transportation.
