지능형 교량 안전성 예측 엣지 시스템 (Intelligent Bridge Safety Prediction Edge System)

  • 교량은 중요한 교통 인프라지만 다양한 환경적 요인과 지속적인 교통 부하로 손상 및 균열을 겪게 되며, 이러한 요인들은 교량의 노후화를 가속화시킨다. 현재 건설한 지 오래된 교량이 많아지면서 안전성을 보장하고 노후화를 진단하기 위한 시스템의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이미 교량에서는 실시간 또는 주기적으로 교량의 상태를 모니터링하기 위해 구조물 건전도 모니터링(SHM) 기술이 활용되고 있다. 이 기술과 함께 인공지능과 사물인터넷 기술을 활용한 지능형 교량 모니터링 기술 개발이 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 노후화된 교량의 유지관리를 위해 고속 푸리에 변환과 차원 축소 알고리즘을 활용한 교량 안전성을 예측 엣지 시스템 기법을 연구한다. 특히, 기존 연구와는 다르게 실제 교량에서 수집된 센서 데이터를 이용하여 데이터셋을 형성하고 교량의 안전성을 확인할 수 있는지 알아본다.

Towards high-accuracy data modelling, uncertainty quantification and correlation analysis for SHM measurements during typhoon events using an improved most likely heteroscedastic Gaussian process

  • Data modelling and interpretation for structural health monitoring (SHM) field data are critical for evaluating structural performance and quantifying the vulnerability of infrastructure systems. In order to improve the data modelling accuracy, and extend the application range from data regression analysis to out-of-sample forecasting analysis, an improved most likely heteroscedastic Gaussian process (iMLHGP) methodology is proposed in this study by the incorporation of the outof-sample forecasting algorithm. The proposed iMLHGP method overcomes this limitation of constant variance of Gaussian process (GP), and can be used for estimating non-stationary typhoon-induced response statistics with high volatility. The first attempt at performing data regression and forecasting analysis on structural responses using the proposed iMLHGP method has been presented by applying it to real-world filed SHM data from an instrumented cable-stay bridge during typhoon events. Uncertainty quantification and correlation analysis were also carried out to investigate the influence of typhoons on bridge strain data. Results show that the iMLHGP method has high accuracy in both regression and out-of-sample forecasting. The iMLHGP framework takes both data heteroscedasticity and accurate analytical processing of noise variance (replace with a point estimation on the most likely value) into account to avoid the intensive computational effort. According to uncertainty quantification and correlation analysis results, the uncertainties of strain measurements are affected by both traffic and wind speed. The overall change of bridge strain is affected by temperature, and the local fluctuation is greatly affected by wind speed in typhoon conditions.

  • 최근 방범 및 교통관제를 위하여 다수의 고성능 CCTV의 설치가 급격히 늘어나면서, 사생활침해 요소에 대한 대응과 다수의 카메라로부터 전송되는 고화질 영상정보의 분석에 대한 시스템 요구 사항의 증가문제가 활발하게 대두되고 있다. 따라서 사생활침해에 대응하기 위한 방법과 다수의 카메라로부터 입력되는 감시영상을 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 방법들이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 입력영상의 처리 비용을 줄이고 처리속도를 향상시키기 위해, 복수개의 카메라로부터 입력되는 영상을 그룹화하여 통합영상을 생성한다. 생성된 통합영상을 분석한 후 미리 설정된 이벤트들을 감지하고 이벤트의 감지여부에 따라 이벤트에 대응하는 편집 작업을 수행하게 된다.

무인항공기 탑재 안테나 간 간섭을 고려한 안테나 최적 위치 분석 (Analysis of Optimum Antenna Placement Considering Interference Between Airborne Antennas Mounted on UAV)

  • 본 논문에서는 무인항공기에 탑재된 안테나 간의 간섭을 고려한 안테나 최적 위치 분석에 대해서 서술하였다. 분석은 전방향성 안테나들 중 운용 주파수 대역이 인접하고, 상호 간 이격거리가 가까운 곳에 위치한 안테나들을 선정하여 수행하였다. 분석을 수행한 안테나는 제어용 데이터링크, TCAS(Traffic Collision & Avoidance System), IFF(Identification Friend or Foe), GPS(Global Positioning System)와 RALT(Radar ALTimeter) 안테나들이다. 안테나 최적 위치 분석은 세 단계로 구분된다. 첫 번째 단계는 안테나 용도, 형상 및 방사패턴을 고려한 안테나 초기 위치 선정 후 안테나 장착 시 무인항공기 구조물에 의한 안테나 방사패턴과 반사손실 특성 변화를 관찰하여 최적의 특성을 갖는 지점을 선정하는 것이다. 두 번째 단계는 안테나 간의 결합특성과 송신 안테나의 불요파 세기 및 수신 안테나의 최저수신감도를 고려하여 안테나 간 간섭 정도를 분석하는 것이다. 간섭이 발생할 경우, 간섭이 미발생하는 최소이격거리를 분석하여 간섭이 발생하지 않는 최적 위치를 선정한다. 마지막 단계는 안테나 간 추가 거리 이격으로도 간섭이 제거되지 않을 경우, 안테나 간 주파수 이격 분석을 통한 주파수 간섭 대책을 확정하는 것이다. 이러한 분석 과정은 개발단계에서 안테나 간 간섭을 예측하여 간섭이 발생하지 않는 안테나 최적 위치 선정에 유용하게 사용된다.

Air Quality Deterioration in a Pristine Area due to a Petroleum Refinery and Associated Activities

  • The work describes an assessment of the major air pollutants, $NO_2$, $SO_2$, CO, $O_3$, $NH_3$, coarse and fine particulate matter ($PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$) in ambient air in and around a 3 million tonne Petroleum Refinery and the possible impacts on a pristine area marked by the presence of the world-famous Kajiranga National Park, a world heritage site and habitat for the most number of one-horned rhinos in the world. The Refinery is at an aerial distance of 20-25 km from the wildlife habitat. The assessment is based on regular monitoring at four stations around the Refinery and one station near the National Park. Heavy rains during June to August influence the pollutant concentrations while at other times of the year, large traffic volume adds to the pollutant concentrations that peak during November to March, the dry months of the year. Correlation analysis by scatter technique is utilised to obtain the enhancement ratios to predict the variations in the concentrations of the pollutants and their spatial distribution. Computation of air quality index (AQI) indicates that the coarse and the fine particulates in the ambient air could be a major hazard to wildlife in the area.

환경친화적 완충녹지의 기준설정 (Design and Planning Criteria for the Green Buffer Zone)

  • The purpose of the study is to analyze the existing situation of the green buffer zone in the large scale industrial site and other major residential apartment areas. In this study, it is specifically intended that the planning guideline be upgraded to adopt future landuse trends and thus to suggest design criteria for management of the buffer zone. The framework of the analysis is to review the current landuse, noise reduction, ecological implications and landscape in general. Although the major function of a green buffer zone is considered to protect the residential area from various hazards of industrial, traffic, and visual environment, the situation is that most of the zones are maintained at a minimum level of services by local government. The study carried out intensively almost every type of case studied throughout the country, which implies that the management of the green buffer zone should be expanded physically enough to function for its original objectives. The study recommends that ecological management of the green buffer zone be emphasized and therefore the criteria for this purpose as well as noise issue should be developed prior to the landuse aspects. The study suggests specific guidelines for planning and design for the green buffer zone development. This study should be verified positively through the sustainable monitoring and requires nationwide and overall examination so that it may be applied to whole green spaces.

Stable modal identification for civil structures based on a stochastic subspace algorithm with appropriate selection of time lag parameter

  • Based on the alternative stabilization diagram by varying the time lag parameter in the stochastic subspace identification analysis, this study aims to investigate the measurements from several cases of civil structures for extending the applicability of a recently noticed criterion to ensure stable identification results. Such a criterion demands the time lag parameter to be no less than a critical threshold determined by the ratio of the sampling rate to the fundamental system frequency and is firstly validated for its applications with single measurements from stay cables, bridge decks, and buildings. As for multiple measurements, it is found that the predicted threshold works well for the cases of stay cables and buildings, but makes an evident overestimation for the case of bridge decks. This discrepancy is further explained by the fact that the deck vibrations are induced by multiple excitations independently coming from the passing traffic. The cable vibration signals covering the sensor locations close to both the deck and pylon ends of a cable-stayed bridge provide convincing evidences to testify this important discovery.

Experimental Study on Tip Clearance Effects for Performance Characteristics of Ducted Fan

  • Currently, a new generation of ducted fan UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) is under development for a wide range of inspection, investigation and combat missions as well as for a variety of civil roles like traffic monitoring, meteorological studies, hazard mitigation etc. The current study presents extensive results obtained experimentally in order to investigate the tip clearance effects on performance characteristics of a ducted fan for small UAV systems. Three ducted fans having different tip clearance gap and with same rotor size were examined under three different yawed conditions of calibrated slanted hot-wire probe. Three dimensional velocity flow fields were measured from hub to tip at outlet of the ducted fan. The analysis of data were done by PLEAT (Phase locked Ensemble Averaging Technique) and three non-linear differential equations were solved simultaneously by using Newton -Rhapson numerical method. Flow field characteristics such as tip vortex and secondary flow were confirmed through axial, radial and tangential velocity contour plots. At the same time, the effects of tip clearance on axial thrust and input power were also investigated by using wind tunnel measurement system. For enhancing the performance of ducted fan, tip clearance level should be as small as possible.

기계학습 기반 저 복잡도 긴장 상태 분류 모델 (Design of Low Complexity Human Anxiety Classification Model based on Machine Learning)

  • Recently, services for personal biometric data analysis based on real-time monitoring systems has been increasing and many of them have focused on recognition of emotions. In this paper, we propose a classification model to classify anxiety emotion using biometric data actually collected from people. We propose to deploy the support vector machine to build a classification model. In order to improve the classification accuracy, we propose two data pre-processing procedures, which are normalization and data deletion. The proposed algorithms are actually implemented based on Real-time Traffic Flow Measurement structure, which consists of data collection module, data preprocessing module, and creating classification model module. Our experiment results show that the proposed classification model can infers anxiety emotions of people with the accuracy of 65.18%. Moreover, the proposed model with the proposed pre-processing techniques shows the improved accuracy, which is 78.77%. Therefore, we can conclude that the proposed classification model based on the pre-processing process can improve the classification accuracy with lower computation complexity.

Seasonal and Diurnal Trend of Carbon Dioxide in a Mountainous Site in Seoul, Korea

  • In this research, the environmental behavior of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) was investigated in a mountainous site in the proximity of a highly industrialized megacity, Seoul, Korea. The concentration data of $CO_2$ monitored routinely at hourly intervals at Mt. Gwan-Ak (GA), Seoul, Korea throughout 2009 were analyzed in several respects. The mean $CO_2$ value was $405{\pm}12.1$ ppm (median=403 ppm) with a range of 344 to 508 ppm (N=8548). The analysis of its seasonal trend indicated that the $CO_2$ levels peaked in the winter but reached a minimum in fall. If the short-term trend is analyzed, the $CO_2$ values generally peaked during daytime along with the presence of two shoulders; this is suspected to be indicative of strong man-made effects (e.g., traffic activities). It is seen that the general patterns of $CO_2$ distribution in this study area are highly comparable to those typically found in urban areas with strong signals of anthropogenic activities.
