  • Recently, researching using big data and AI has emerged as a major issue in the ICT field. But, the size of big data for research is growing exponentially. In addition, users of data transmission of existing network method suggest that the problem the time taken to send and receive big data is slower than the time to copy and send the hard disk. Accordingly, researchers require dynamic and flexible network technology that can transmit data at high speed and accommodate various network structures. SDN/NFV technologies can be programming a network to provide a network suitable for the needs of users. It can easily solve the network's flexibility and security problems. Also, the problem with performing AI is that centralized data processing cannot guarantee real-time, and network delay occur when traffic increases. In order to solve this problem, the edge-computing technology, should be used which has moved away from the centralized method. In this paper, we investigate the concept and research trend of SDN, NFV, and edge-computing technologies, and analyze the trends of data central network technologies used by combining these three technologies.

  • In order to maintain the safety of the airspace with ever increasing traffic volume, it is necessary to thoroughly analyze the collision risk with the current data. In this study, collision risk analysis was conducted using Detect and Avoid (DAA) Well-Clear (DWC) metrics, risk induces developed for the DAA systems of unmanned aerial vehicles. All flights in year 2019 that flew within the Incheon Flight Information Region (FIR) boundary were analyzed using the recorded Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast(ADS-B) data. High risk regions as well as trends by airports and seasons were identified. The results indicate that the risk is higher around the congested area near Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport. Seasonally, the risk was highest in August that coincides with the Summer vacation period. The result will be useful for the baseline data for various aviation safety enhancement activities such as revision of routes and procedures and training of the field specialists.

  • Recently, new climate change mechanism after 2020 year has been accepted with the parties, and so government is pushing ahead the GHG reduction policies to achieve the effective results. Especially, it is essential to enhance the role of railroad in the public traffic system as well as to develop new cars with high energy efficiency for the GHG reduction of transportation sector. Thus, the calculation method of GHG emission of railroad should be established to manage the emission continuously. In this study, the calculation method of GHG emission of railroad was defined with Tier level considering its emission sources to refer to 2006 IPCC guideline for national GHG inventories. Also, the GHG emission of railroad at Tier 1 level was investigated using the activity data related to the amount of diesel and electricity consumption from 2008 to 2010. As a result, total GHG emission in 2010 was about 2,060 thousands ton CO2e, which have 73% of electricity and 27% of diesel. In future, the plans on the GHG reduction of railroad will be accomplished by the analysis of the detailed trends on the basis of the emission management of Tier 3 level under operating patterns. Therefore, it is important to develop the specific GHG emission factors of railroad in advance.

  • Diverse and complex facilities have been on the increase in urban areas in accordance with rapid urbanization. Along the lines of the increase in facilities, the risk of fire has increased. In particular, fire accidents as well as traffic accidents accounted for the highest rate in artificial disasters. Therefore, the National Fire Information Systems managed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) appeared for the effective fire management. The NEMA has provided the public with the Internet services regarding information about fire outbreak since 2007. This study acquired data from both NEMA and the Jinju City Fire Department. It constructed the fire data of Jinju City and calculated the change in spatial density targeting fire, occurred in Jinju city with a view to examining the fire risk of facilities by conducting a time series analysis on the trends of fire outbreak over a span of periods between 2007 and 2013. It also conducted an analysis of Moran's I, Getis-Ord Gi. Therefore, it came to select higher hot spots in terms of fire location and fire density. In addition, it attempted to calculate the levels of fire hazard by drawing up the matrix of personal injury and property damage, depending on facilities to present the methods, which can predict the risk of fire occurrence in urban areas.

  • This study is to perform empirical analysis on observational before-after studies in Naive Method, Comparison Group(CG) Method and Empirical Bayes(EB) Method, and to compare with their results and to propose ways to apply to evaluation researches. For this purpose, the evaluation of road safety audit executed on Y$\breve{o}$ng-dong freeway in 2005 and 2006 was performed. As a result, all three methods have showed improved effects due to safety treatments. The safety effectiveness of Naive method is the largest, CG Method is the second and EB method is the last. The results of Naive method are overestimated due to the trend of reducing traffic accidents and those of CG method are affected by the external casual effects of comparison group. In the EB method, as "regression to the mean" phenomenon are controlled by reference group's accident model, it's result is relatively more accurate than that of other methods. In the conduct of evaluation studies, the analysts have to understand the pros and cons of each evaluation method. And after leading the survey on accident trends of related all sites, evaluation analysis is performed to be able to minimize bias.

  • This study is to investigate the air pollution characteristics of an industrialized midsize west-coastal city by comparing air quality to a neighboring inland city. The hourly averaged data of $O_3$, $SO_2$, $NO_2$, CO, and $PM_{10}$ measured from continuous air quality monitoring sites in Gunsan (coastal) and Jeonju (inland) were analyzed. The data set covers the period from 2004 to 2006. The annual average concentrations of the air pollutants in two cities were compared in their abundances and temporal trends as well. $O_3$ and $SO_2$ in Gunsan were relatively higher than those in Jeonju, while vice versa in case of $NO_2$ and $PM_{10}$. It seems that heavy automobile emissions from Jeonju mainly bring on higher $NO_2$ and $PM_{10}$ than those in Gunsan on annual base. $NO_2$ concentrations in both cities showed bimodal diurnal variations with peaks in the morning and in the late evening. These peaks correspond to the coupled effects of rush hour traffic and meteorological conditions (i.e., variation of mixing height and dispersion conditions). Maximum hourly averages of $NO_2$ ranged from 18 ppb to 28 ppb at Jeonju, and from 12 ppb to 20 ppb at Gunsan. $O_3$ showed typical diurnal variation with a maximum in the afternoon between 14:00 and 16:00 LST. Diurnal variations of CO and $PM_{10}$ were similar to $NO_2$ while $SO_2$ was similar to $O_3$. Seasonal variations of $PM_{10}$ in both cities indicated that their concentrations during spring season were significantly high. Asian dust storms occur frequently during spring and seem to affect increase in $PM_{10}$. High $O_3$ and $PM_{10}$ days were selected from both cities. The analyses based on the HYSPLIT trajectory model during the high $O_3$ and $PM_{10}$ showed these episodes (six cases) were mostly coincident with Asian dust storm originated from northern China and Mongolia. However, these high air pollution episodes in the west coastal cities may not only be caused by the Asian dust but also affected by other air pollutants transported from China accompanying the Asian dust.

  • The pollution of particulate matter (PM) is considered one of the hot socioenvironmental issues at present time. In this study, we investigated the distribution of fine particulate matter ($PM_{2.5}$) in Wangsimni commercial areas in Seoul, Korea to learn more about its environmental behavior in an urban area. Our analysis of $PM_{2.5}$ was made to distinguish the $PM_{2.5}$ pollution levels between three different types of site characteristics: (1) densely populated area, (2) thinly populated area, and (3) traffic roadside. Moreover, to assess the temporal trends in our study, the concentration levels of $PM_{2.5}$ were also compared between weekdays and weekends and between early in the afternoon and evening. The average concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ from densely and thinly populated areas were measured as $36.0{\pm}13.1$ and $32.3{\pm}11.2{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. If the results are compared between different time bands, there were apparent differences between weekdays ($29.6{\pm}10.8{\mu}g/m^3$) and weekends ($36.9{\pm}12.1{\mu}g/m^3$). Such difference was also evident between noon ($27.8{\pm}5.8{\mu}g/m^3$) and evening ($38.3{\pm}13.7{\mu}g/m^3$). According to our research, concentration of $PM_{2.5}$ in the study area was affected more sensitively by time zone rather than the population density. The measurement data was also analyzed by drawing concentration map of $PM_{2.5}$ in the Wangsimni commercial areas based on data contouring method.

  • This study aims to evaluate the performance of Hook-turn operation with various sizes of bicycle waiting zone(WZ) and to determine the optimal size of bicycle WZ under various traffic and control circumstances. An extensive simulation study was performed to examine bicycle and vehicle delay trends for given experimental design. Results showed that vehicle delay was insensitive to the size of waiting zone, but bicycle delay was reduced as the size of waiting zone increased in general. The delay performance indicated a similar trend between with RTOR and without RTOR operation, but vehicle delay slightly increased and bicycle delay slightly decreased without RTOR. Regarding to optimal waiting zone size, 6 WZ was recommended for general conditions with RTOR, but 9 WZ was recommended when bicycle left-turn volume was greater than 120 v/h. 6 WZ was recommended for general conditions without RTOR, but 12 WZ was recommended when bicycle left-turn volume was greater than 90 v/h.

  • Traffic volume increases due to diversification of industry. Also, Automobile ownerships also increase steadily. It is estimated that the registered number of vehicle is expected to be 20 milion in the year 2015. These trends may result in increasing the number of woman drivers and elderly drivers. Therefore, this study aims to identify routes that reflect characteristics of each driver's preferences. A survey was conducted on different routes attributes for variances drivers. Driver types were classified by gender, age, and driving career. Accordingly, a weight for road composition attribute such as number of lanes, number of accidents, slope was estimated by using Swing Weighting technique in Multi-Attribute Utility Theory. In addition, a case study was conducted and identified weights were applied to routes. In result, drivers commonly prefer short route when they considered their routes. Also, male drivers prefer speedy and shorter route than that of female drivers. Elderly drivers prefer safe routes that represent low accidents rate. Moreover driving career under a year drivers prefer safe and easy routes. Therefore, we may conclude that the necessity of diversified route information is essential in the future car navigation system.

  • One of the major trends of automotive networking architecture is the introduction of automotive Ethernet. Ethernet is already used in single automotive applications (e.g. to connect high-data-rate sources as video cameras), it is expected that the ongoing standardization at IEEE (IEEE802.3bw - 100BASE-T1, respectively IEEE P802.3bp - 1000BASE-T1) will lead to a much broader adoption in future. Those applications will not be limited to simple point-to-point connections, but may affect Electric/Electronic(EE) Architectures as a whole. It is agreed that IP based traffic via Ethernet could be secured by application of well-established IP security protocols (e.g., IPSec, TLS) combined with additional components like, e.g., automotive firewall or IDS. In the case of safety and real-time related applications on resource constraint devices, the IP based communication is not the favorite option to be used with complicated and performance demanding TLS or IPSec. Those applications will be foreseeable incorporate Layer-2 based communication protocols as, e.g., currently standardized at IEEE[13]. The present paper reflects the state-of-the-art communication concepts with respect to security and identifies architectural challenges and potential solutions for future Ethernet Switch-based EE-Architectures. It also gives an overview and provide insights into the ongoing security relevant standardization activities concerning automotive Ethernet. Furthermore, the properties of non-automotive Ethernet security mechanisms as, e.g., IEEE 802.1AE aka. MACsec or 802.1X Port-based Network Access Control, will be evaluated and the applicability for automotive applications will be assessed.
