  • Performance of TCP/IP is studied on the wireless network using flow control and congestion control mechanism based on transmission rate. We discuss the elimination or the reduction of various phenomena of burst by flow controlling on transmission rate and verify that there are TCP ACK compression promblems on the queue by burst reaction while executing transmission rate controlled channels. Analyzing periodic burst reaction on the queue of source IP, the maximum value of queue is expected, which represents the applible expectation of throughput reduce and shows the improvement of performance by the reduce of throughput due to hi-directional traffic.

  • The boroadband ISDN will transprot the traffics for a wide range of applications with different quality-of-service (QOS) requirements and the priorit control mechanism is an effective method to support multiple classes of services. This paper proposes a new mechanism to satisfy simultaneously the different levels of cell loss performance for the two classes of heterogeneous nonreal-time ATM traffics as well as the delay and loss requirements of real-time traffics. Its performance is analyzed using the stochastic integral approach with the cell arrivals of input streams modeled as markov modulated poisson processes.

  • Software controlled traffic management becomes more difficult with increasing switch size, because a huge number of connections are multiplexed in a high speed switching system and each ATM connections does not have a fixed bandwidth It is based on high-speed WDM(wavelength division multiplexed) links that can multiplex a huge number of connections on a statistical basis, and a self-load balancing technique. the Proposed switching system is scalable, and achieves the non-blocking capability without the use of complicated software control, using instead a hardware self-load balancing mechanism

  • Synchronization between media is an important aspect in the design of multimedia streaming system. This paper proposes a precise media synchronization mechanism for digital video and audio transport over IP networks. To support synchronization between video and audio bitstreams transported over IP networks, RTP/RTCP protocol suite is usually employed. To provide a precise mechanism for media synchronization between video and audio, we suggest an efficient media synchronization algorithm based on NPT (Normal Play Time) which can be derivable from the timestamp information in the header part of RTP packet generated for the transport of video and audio streams. With the proposed method, we do not need to send and process any RTCP SR (sender report) packet which is required for conventional media synchronization scheme, and accordingly could reduce the number of required UDP ports and the amount of control traffic injected into the network.

  • The IEEE 802.11 WLAN adopts a random backoff algorithm for its collision avoidance mechanism, and it is well known that the contention-based algorithm may suffer from performance degradation especially in congested networks. In this paper, we design an efficient backoff algorithm that utilizes a reinforcement learning method to determine optimal values of backoffs. The mobile nodes share a common contention window (CW) in our scheme, and using a Q-learning algorithm, they can avoid collisions by finding and implicitly reserving their optimal time slot(s). In addition, we introduce Frame Size Control (FSC) algorithm to minimize the possible degradation of aggregate throughput when the number of nodes exceeds the CW size. Our simulation shows that the proposed backoff algorithm with FSC method outperforms the 802.11 protocol regardless of the traffic conditions, and an analytical modeling proves that our mechanism has a unique operating point that is fair and stable.

  • For higher reliability against a link failure of a control network in railway vehicles, a recovery mechanism is needed. We introduce a problem that, when a link failure occurs in a ring-topology control network, a node may experience a significant increase of transmission delay depending on its relative position within the network. We then propose two mechanisms to solve this problem: (1) differentiating and prioritizing node traffic in forwarding; and (2) switching some nodes to a backup bus-topology network. Our simulation study shows that, while the first mechanism achieves a limited gain by only compensating queuing delay, the second one gets a sufficient gain which is impacted by the number of nodes switched to the bus network.

  • The most important issue in providing multimedia traffic on a mobile computing environments is to guarantee the mobile host(client) with consistent QoS(Quality of Service). However, the QoS negotiated between the client and network in one cell may not be honored due to client mobility, causing hand-offs between cells. In this paper, a call admission control mechanism is proposed to provide consistent QoS guarantees for multimedia traffics in a mobile computing environment. Each cell can reserve fractional bandwidths for hand-off calls to its adjacent cells. It is important to determine the right amount of reserved bandwidth for hand-off calls because the blocking probability of new calls may increase if the amount of reserved bandwidth is more than necessary. An adaptive bandwidth reservation based on an MPP(Mobility Pattern Profile) and a 2-tier cell structure has been proposed to determine the amount of bandwidth to be reserved in the cell and to control dynamically its amount based on its network condition. We also propose a call admission control based on this bandwidth reservation and "next-cell prediction" scheme using an MPP. In order to evaluate the performance of our call admission control mechanism, we measure the metrics such as the blocking probability of our call admission control mechanism, we measure the metrics such as the blocking probability of new calls, dropping probability of hand-off calls, and bandwidth utilization. The simulation results show that the performance of our mechanism is superior to that of the existing mechanisms such as NR-CAT1, FR-CAT1, and AR-CAT1.

  • In this paper, we present the Q-learning method for adaptive traffic signal control on the basis of multi-agent technology. The structure is composed of sixphase agents and one intersection agent. Wireless communication network provides the possibility of the cooperation of agents. As one kind of reinforcement learning, Q-learning is adopted as the algorithm of the control mechanism, which can acquire optical control strategies from delayed reward; furthermore, we adopt dynamic learning method instead of static method, which is more practical. Simulation result indicates that it is more effective than traditional signal system.

Recently, PSC system is focused on human factor of International Maritime Convention, especially ILO and STCW Convention by considering many accidents resulted from human factor. Therefore, we have to understand of Consolidated Maritime Labour Convention which describes employment conditions and social welfare policy, the rights about the lowest wages, the overdue wages, the unemployment protection. a disaster reward, etc and STCW Convention which describes standards of training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers. The aim of this study is to recognize inspection points about human factor of these Conventions. .

  • Named Data Networking (NDN) has emerged and become one of the most promising architectures for future Internet. However, like traditional IP-based networking paradigm, NDN may not evade some typical network threats such as malicious data aggregates (MDA), which may lead to bandwidth exhaustion, traffic congestion and router overload. This paper firstly analyzes the damage effect of MDA using realistic simulations in large-scale network topology, showing that it is not just theoretical, and then designs a fine-grained MDA mitigation mechanism (MDAM) based on the cooperation between routers via alert messages. Simulations results show that MDAM can significantly reduce the Pending Interest Table overload in involved routers, and bring in normal data-returning rate and data-retrieval delay.
