In the process of changing from modern society to contemporary society, innovation of various fields is considered as important with rapid social change and one of the consequences of this changing movement is the innovation of living space. In this paper, based on this motive, we will study a modular shelf that can create a private space, and serve function like role of partition that delimits space in the one-room. Modular shelves can provide openness, closeness, and autonomy to individual spaces in a one-room space without space divisions. In a small one-room for residential purpose, it is able to function effectively to show the atmosphere of personal space and display small items reflecting personal taste in addition to the function of storing books and items. In addition, a modular shelves considering disassembly and movement are proposed in order to take advantage of one-room that can make different space configurations as needed. It is aim to suggest a basic modular shelves structure that used traditional Chinese wood-joints during which techniques was sturdy while reducing the use of timber. Futhermore, the purpose of this study is to study the design of shelf furniture that can add individuality.

Pungsu is can be seen as an ecological architectural science regarding native natural environment of east asia. Even though the language used in Pungsu is different from that of ecological architecture, Pungsu considered the surrounding environment of the traditional house by various Pungsu method for making and keeping more healthy life and sustainable environment. The research is for finding out how the surrounding natural environment was considered with Pungsu, a traditional ecological architectural science in case of site selection and planning house by the confucian scholar in Joseon period. Myungjae Yunjung traditional house of Nonsan in the middle of korea is selected. He is one of the greatest confucian scholar in Joseon period. The study is processed as follows. Feature of mountain expressed as dragon and four important hills of the house are analyzed in chapter 2, Water environment is studied and the geomantic landscape are analyzed by shape theory called Hyung-guk-Lon in chapter 3, 4. Finally Pungsu applied in architectural space is analyzed in chapter 5.

A house is basic unit of human being living space and it reflects an occupation, family relation, a life style and sense of value of resident. The purpose of this study was to research the continuity of traditional elements and contemporary change of Japanese houses by field study and literature research. The subject of this study was sixteen houses of Miyashiro, Saitama pref. in Japan. The results of this study are as follow as. First, the traditional elements of contemporary Japanese houses are tatami floor room, tsuzukima, zashiki, dokonoma, butsudan, amado. Second, the tatami is symbol of Japanese living space. Wasizus maintains a traditional characteristic, but it is developed and fixed properly change in contemporary life. Third, the traditional elements of Japanese houses are continuing in the modern houses, and they are continuously changed the feature from recreate. It can be a connection of a hereditary factor of residential culture. Four, the continuity of modern change and traditional element of the Japanese houses can be understood the change of the structural and spatial responding method to accommodates a life.

본 연구는 전통 재현을 위한 합리적 계획 방향을 모색하고자 '의정부 민락 2지구 도시기반시설 조경설계공모(2008)'와 '화성 동탄 2지구 택지개발사업 1단계 조경기본 및 실시설계공모(2012)' 당선안의 설계 도판과 조성 현장을 비교 분석하였다. 먼저 설계 도판에 제시된 텍스트와 평면도, 입단면도, 다이어그램, 사례이미지, 투시도를 분석하여 재현 대상과 재현 경관, 재현 공간의 구성과 배치, 재현 시설물의 디자인과 식재 양상을 파악한 후 조성 현장을 고찰하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 재현 대상과 재현 경관의 유형은 대상지의 향토 경관으로써 농업 경관, 전통마을의 생활공간, 전통 수(水) 공간, 전통문화로 구분된다. 둘째, 재현 공간의 구성 및 배치와 관련하여 주변 토지이용과 지역문화유산이 고려된 전통 테마 공간들을 구성하였으나 조성 시 일부는 근린공원에 요구되는 운동공간이나 편의시설공간으로 변경되었다. 셋째, 재현 시설물의 경우 방지원도(方池圓島), 정자, 화계는 현장에 도입되었으나 창의적으로 디자인된 시설물은 설치되지 않았다. 넷째, 전통 식재 기법은 마을숲, 방지 내 원도, 화계에 수목을 도입하는 것에 집중되었다. 다섯째, 전문 자료를 토대로 한 주제 선정과 실험적 시설물 디자인 제시 등 전통 재현 작업이 진일보한 측면을 파악할 수 있었다. 여섯째, 조성 시 실현 가능한 주제 선정, 정보 해석을 위한 전문성, 전통 시설물의 창의적 디자인 등 앞으로 이루어질 전통 재현 작업에 요구되는 과제들을 짚어보았다.

Nowadays' culture' is an important topic of conversation and rigorous researches have been done about the cultures of our neighboring countries such as China and Japan. It is expected that studies concerning applications of each traditional culture in modern design will be made rigorously in the near future. In this context this study chose five-star hotel restaurants located in Korea and investigated how the Korean, Chinese and Japanese cultures are incorporated into their modern interior design. The data were classified by space and design elements. The results show that colorful Korean identity(or Koreanity) was applied in Korean restaurants rather than the simplicity and naturalness of traditional space. As for Chinese restaurants, a large scale of space which Chinese traditional space reveals was not adopted because of their location too, but brilliant patterns and colors were used consistently. The typical Japanese style of simple lines, colors and materials were reflected in Japanese restaurants.

The purpose of this study is invested, recorded about traditional dwelling space, and there is to find out possibilites on the context of the inheritance of traditional life through analzing about life content and space. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Kwang Duk vililage is the typical traditional town where the confucian view of life still affects on overall housing life. 2) The pattern of layout is mainly 'ㅡ' and 'ㄱ' shaped type. In the plane and structural form, the original form is, though some parts have changed, maintained. 3) According to the analysis of transformation state of dwelling space, the category of transformation is summerized as follow ; changes of room function, increase and decrease of annex, and room size by changes of family structure, life style, farming operation style.

Space given at home, furniture is an important condition to determine its size. As a method for satisfying outer and functional human needs, ever changing, shaped form has also been developed. Modern people tend to decorate the beautiful living space to the needs of the beauty and space of living. In order to satisfy these requirements, the development of furniture to suit the taste of modern people is required. In this study, we add together the design and contemporary design of traditional Korean and use of raw wood can feel the natural and applied to furniture retro design. It is possible to have a motif characteristic of Hanok traditional to suggest a design where you can feel the sensitivity with retro in the direction of the current design change is large and diverse, and in harmony with the living space of modern it is an object that you study the production lighting and storage furniture with the complexity of the traditional and modern.

Assuming that while the Confucian idea-based awareness of boundary appeared to have a distinct effect on traditional residential spaces the awareness of an individualized nuclear family-oriented boundary deviated from authoritarianism has been recently shown in the modern residential spaces, this study was conducted to clarify what the modern people's awareness of boundary influences individual residential spaces and how the boundary is structured. This study was carried out by examining prior studies on the concepts of boundary and analysing the planes of residential apartments as a typical modern residential space, based on the comparison of traditional and modern residential spaces. It was shown, then, that the awareness of boundary in the modern residential space appeared to be structured in the residential apartment space according to the change in the social position and role of family members, unlike the spatial division of the traditional residential spaces based on the social class and sex.

Much evidence points to the fact that Korean traditional architecture has long reflected traditional Korean philosophy. If what this evidence points to Is true, there is much more insight to be gained about this connection. It is important to begin with the idea that Korean culture stemmed from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. All three share similar ideas, and this study will set out to prove that topology, an anti-Euclidean school of thought created at the end of the 19th century, shares many of the same core ideas as the three mentioned above. Transitively, if Korean traditional culture is reflected in Korean traditional architecture, and topology shares many of the same core ideas, it seems that topology should be accepted into the mainstream of architectural design. This study will aim to interpret space structure forms and space constructions of the Korean traditional architecture from the topological perspective.
