This study was performed to reveal some contrasting aspects between Sasang Constitutional Medicine(四象醫學) and Traditional Oriental Medicine(傳統 韓醫學). This aims ultimately for the unified standardization of Korea-Oriental Medicine. Suggesting the clear contrasting aspects of thse two medical system, this study might give several basic informations for ultimate achievement. As a result, some contrasting aspects were revealed as follows. 1. The interpretation of the man's status is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, man is interpreted as the member of the Society(天下) while in Traditional Oriental Medicine as the part of the Nature(天地). 2. The man's modeling is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, man is in the process of becoming as differentiating itself by the inner emotional producing. While in Traditional Oriental Medicine, man is generalized as one model according to the Nature, one great universe(天地). 3. The pathogenesis is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, emotional inclination is the main factor provoking the primary pathogenesis. While in Traditional Oriental Medicine the external isolated pathogenic factors such as Cold, Heat, Warm etc. are significant for the pathogenesis. 4. The evaluation of the disease is contrasted. In Sasang Constitutional Medicine all the diseases are evaluated according to the inherent condition of patient himself. But in Traditional Oriental Medicine the evaluation of disease isolated from the inheret condition of patient himself is generalized in its own system. 5. The prime method of healing, controlling, and maintaining health of the patient is contrasted. For these, the patient's spontaneous effort for adjusting his emotional inclination is important in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. While in Traditional Oriental Medicine, the external adjustment dependent on the herbal medication is the main method for healing, controlling, and maintaining health of the patient.

Preconditions for the separation of prescribing and dispensing medicinal herbs in Traditional Korean Medicine are classification of medicinal herbs for general public and special medical uses, establishment of national medicinal herb distribution company of governmental base, restriction in purchase of medicinal herbs for special medical use, partnership between doctors and pharmacists of Traditional Korean Medicine, and coverage of herbal medicine-based medication in national health insurance, etc. The number of Traditional Korean Medicine Pharmacists which was born during 'the herbal medicine conflict' initiated in 1993, goes over 1,000 and will increase by 120 annually. The number of Traditional Korean Medical Doctors is over 17,000 and increases by 850 annually. So in order to engage partnership between two groups, the government have to arrange the number of outputs of each group. Standardization and classification of diagnosis and diseases in Traditional Korean Medicine is a matter of course in the separation of prescribing and dispensing medicinal herbs. Related societies and academies need to do researches with governmental fund first. After these works, we can launch a task force team for implementation of process for the separation of prescribing and dispensing medicinal herbs in Traditional Korean Medicine properly. Entering the national health insurance system for full coverage of Korean Medicine care service will be essential for the patients. Implementation the separation of prescribing and dispensing medicinal herbs in Traditional Korean Medicine would be the core of health insurance coverage for medication.
Traditional Knowledge[TK] is a concept which summings up all the knowledge of traditionally inherited, includes traditional medicine, therapy, food and environments. Such traditional knowledge has been perished and neglected through industrial development. We, Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine, promotes digitalization of this traditional knowledge to support and maximize its application, principally in Traditional korean medicine. We can get opportunity of reorganize the traditional knowledge to more practical and available form by this project. And also we introduce briefly its meaning and worth, and seek for application to the study of medical history.
The degree of KAP study on oriental traditional medicine was examined with some korean from July 1st to August 30th in 1996. The result of the study for predicting health and ill patterns runs as fellows. 1) It is too weak to understand and adertise oriental traditional medicine doctors and the curable disease; moreover cured diseases rather preponderate. 2) Although most patients go to oriental traditional medical clinic for the purpose of medical herbs in package and acupuncture, they think the medical fee a high expensive. 3) The 77.9% of respondents recognize oriental traditional medical doctors as a profession and others think them only abundant workers; therefore it is rather low to think oriental traditional doctors a profession. 4) Most respondents ink that oriental traditional medicine should improved in the inside; such as the expensive fee, scientific reinforcement of theory, lack of univerality, improvement and enlargement of insurance, unkindness, shortage of publicity, dropped equipment, system of medical specialist, lack of integration with western medicine, exact diagnosis and confidence of remedy and low efficacy, etc. 5) The struggle against the government (1995-1996 about herbal prescription right by western pharmacy) has taken the change of affirmative recognition. 6) The degree that acknowleges of oriental traditional medicine through these basic contents is average 61.65 mark. To be brief, although the step of recognition and attitude of oriental me야cine is very affirmative aspect, actually considerable difficult factors is in the last chosen step.

The medical care guidelines were developed and R&D were carried out. In addition, policies related to traditional Chinese medicine included policies for preventive treatment, the combination of Chinese and Western medicine, and telemedicine. Conclusions : Traditional Chinese medicine response to COVID-19 was included within the overall national quarantine policy, providing medical services for the mild stage. In addition, R&D was conducted to establish a basis for the utilization of traditional Chinese medicines. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the current status of treatments and patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and then map out of a strategy for development of generalized-treatments for diabetic peripheral neuropathy in Traditional Korean Medicine. Methods: We selected research materials from various databases such as PubMed, Google, KStudy, KoreanTK, OIM, KOMS and books. Also, to understand current tendencies of medical examination and treatment related with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, we requested Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service clinical data from 2003 to 2007. Results: It is reported that the incidence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is increasing in an aging society. The medical fees of National Health Insurance related with diabetic peripheral neuropathy show a year-on-year increase. There are no particularly effective therapies for diabetic peripheral neuropathy in Western medicine, and in some papers, it was reported that treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy using Traditional Korean Medicine was effective. However, patients usually visit on Western medical center rather than seek Traditional Korean Medicine. To take charge of clinical fields related with diabetic peripheral neuropathy by Traditional Korean Medicine, we need more studies and experiments of diabetic peripheral neuropathy using Traditional Korean Medicine and should make a standardized protocol. Conclusion: Various studies related with diabetic peripheral neuropathy using Traditional Korean Medicine will have to be undertaken hereafter. We expect that Traditional Korean Medicine will play a vital role in treating of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
