빅데이터 분석을 위해 아파치 스파크를 이용한 원시 데이터 소스에서 데이터 추출 (Capturing Data from Untapped Sources using Apache Spark for Big Data Analytics)

  • The term "Big Data" has been defined to encapsulate a broad spectrum of data sources and data formats. It is often described to be unstructured data due to its properties of variety in data formats. Even though the traditional methods of structuring data in rows and columns have been reinvented into column families, key-value or completely replaced with JSON documents in document-based databases, the fact still remains that data have to be reshaped to conform to certain structure in order to persistently store the data on disc. ETL processes are key in restructuring data. However, ETL processes incur additional processing overhead and also require that data sources are maintained in predefined formats. Consequently, data in certain formats are completely ignored because designing ETL processes to cater for all possible data formats is almost impossible. Potentially, these unconsidered data sources can provide useful insights when incorporated into big data analytics. In this project, using big data solution, Apache Spark, we tapped into other sources of data stored in their raw formats such as various text files, compressed files etc and incorporated the data with persistently stored enterprise data in MongoDB for overall data analytics using MongoDB Aggregation Framework and MapReduce. This significantly differs from the traditional ETL systems in the sense that it is compactible regardless of the data formats at source.

Simulation of Gravity Feed Oil for Aeroplane

  • The traditional method to calculate the gravity feed is to assume that only one tank in fuel system supplies the needed fuel to the engine, and then calculated for the single branch. Actually, all fuel tanks compete for supplying oil. Our method takes into consideration all fuel tanks and therefore, we believe, our method is intrinsically superior to traditional methods and is closer to understanding the real seriousness of the oil supply situation. Firstly, the thesis gives the mathematical model for fuel flow pipe, pump, check valve and the simulation model for fuel tank. On the basis of flow network theory and time difference method, we established a new calculation method for gravity feed oil of aeroplane fuel system, secondly. This model can solve the multiple-branch and transient process simulation of gravity feed oil. Finally, we give a numerical example for a certain type of aircraft, achieved the variations of oil level and flow mass per second of each oil tanks. In addition, we also obtained the variations of the oil pressure of the engine inlet, and predicted the maximum time that the aeroplane could fly safely under gravity feed. These variations show that our proposed method of calculations is satisfactory.

  • Piezoelectric ceramics play an important role in electrical and electronic devices such as sensors, actuators, and microelectronic devices. However, traditional ceramics are difficult to be used in various process industries due to their high brittleness and low flexibility. Therefore, piezoelectric paint sensors have been designed for application to the curved surfaces of complicated structures. Furthermore, recently, significant attention has been focused on the development of paint sensors that can be used as structure health monitoring sensors for vibration, impact, and acoustic emission. Several studies have successfully demonstrated the possibility that smart paint sensors can take the place of traditional ceramic sensors. In this review, we briefly introduce the concept of the piezoelectric paint sensors and the expected application field as well as their preparation and history.

Half Load-Cycle Worked Dual SEPIC Single-Stage Inverter

  • The two-stage converter is widely used in traditional DC/AC inverter. It has several disadvantages such as complex topology, large volume and high loss. In order to overcome these shortcomings, a novel half load-cycle worked dual SEPIC single-stage inverter, which is based on the analysis of the relationship between input and output voltages of SEPIC converters operating in the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), is presented in this paper. The traditional single-stage inverter has remarkable advantages in small and medium power applications, but it can’t realize boost DC/AC output directly. Besides one pre-boost DC/DC converter is needed between the DC source and the traditional single-stage inverter. A novel DC/AC inverter without pre-boost DC/DC converter, which is comprised of two SEPIC converters, is studied. The output of dual SEPIC converters is connected with anti-parallel and half load-cycle control is used to realize boost and buck DC/AC output directly and work properly, whatever the DC input voltage is higher or lower than the AC output voltage. The working principle, parameter selection and the control strategy of the inverters are analyzed in this paper. Simulation and experiment results verify the feasibility of the new inverter.

우리나라 전통 숯의 물리.화학적 특성 (Characteristics of Physical and Adsorption of Korean Traditional Charcoal)

  • The water purification was very important in Korea which has not sufficient water resource and while adsorption method among the various methods to eliminate the water pollutants has been widely used by activated carbon. This study was conducted the basic experiment for hall distribution, pH, conductivity, electronic microscope, cation exchange and inorganic materials the adsorption capacity of Korean traditional charcoal which has similar characteristics to activated carbon of organic pollutants. As a result of observing Korean traditional charcoal with electronic microscope, it was found that it has porous structure, oak charcoal has circular structure, pine charcoal has square structure and bamboo charcoal has hexagonal structure, which has high void fraction per unit area because of its thin cell wall structure. As a result of experimenting hall distribution, hall distribution of bamboo high temperature charcoal is high as 0.269cc/g and has the greatest inorganic contents and cation exchange capacity(CEC) which are the important factor of chemical adsorption.

A Combined Bulk Electric System Reliability Framework Using Adequacy and Static Security Indices

  • Deterministic techniques have been applied in power system planning for many years and there is a growing interest in combining these techniques with probabilistic considerations to assess the increased system stress due to the restructured electricity environment. The overall reliability framework proposed in this paper incorporates the deterministic N-1 criterion in a probabilistic framework, and results in the joint inclusion of both adequacy and security considerations in system planning. The combined framework is achieved using system well-being analysis and traditional adequacy assessment. System well-being analysis is used to quantify the degree of N-1 security and N-1 insecurity in terms of probabilities and frequencies. Traditional adequacy assessment is Incorporated to quantify the magnitude of the severity and consequences associated with system failure. The concepts are illustrated by application to two test systems. The results based on the overall reliability analysis framework indicate that adequacy indices are adversely affected by a generation deficient environment and security indices are adversely affected by a transmission deficient environment. The combined adequacy and security framework presented in this paper can assist system planners to realize the overall benefits associated with system modifications based on the degree of adequacy and security, and therefore facilitate the decision making process.

FRP versus traditional strengthening on a typical mid-rise Turkish RC building

  • This paper investigates the limits and efficacies of the Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) material for strengthening mid-rise RC buildings against seismic actions. Turkey, the region of the highest seismic risk in Europe, is chosen as the case-study country, the building stock of which consists in its vast majority of mid-rise RC residential and/or commercial buildings. Strengthening with traditional methods is usually applied in most projects, as ordinary construction materials and no specialized workmanship are required. However, in cases of tight time constraints, architectural limitations, durability issues or higher demand for ductile performance, FRP material is often opted for since the most recent Turkish Earthquake Code allows engineers to employ this advanced-technology product to overcome issues of inadequate ductility or shear capacity of existing RC buildings. The paper compares strengthening of a characteristically typical mid-rise Turkish RC building by two methods, i.e., traditional column jacketing and FRP strengthening, evaluating their effectiveness with respect to the requirements of the Turkish Earthquake Code. The effect of FRP confinement is explicitly taken into account in the numerical model, unlike the common procedure followed according to which the demand on un-strengthened members is established and then mere section analyses are employed to meet the additional demands.

Demonstration of Robust Micromachined Jet Technology and Its Application to Realistic Flow Control Problems

  • This paper describes the demonstration of successful fabrication and initial characterization of micromachined pressure sensors and micromachined jets (microjets) fabricated for use in macro flow control and other applications. In this work, the microfabrication technology was investigated to create a micromachined fluidic control system with a goal of application in practical fluids problems, such as UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)-scale aerodynamic control. Approaches of this work include: (1) the development of suitable micromachined synthetic jets (microjets) as actuators, which obviate the need to physically extend micromachined structures into an external flow; and (2) a non-silicon alternative micromachining fabrication technology based on metallic substrates and lamination (in addition to traditional MEMS technologies) which will allow the realization of larger scale, more robust structures and larger array active areas for fluidic systems. As an initial study, an array of MEMS pressure sensors and an array of MEMS modulators for orifice-based control of microjets have been fabricated, and characterized. Both pressure sensors and modulators have been built using stainless steel as a substrate and a combination of lamination and traditional micromachining processes as fabrication technologies.

냉각 시스템 제어에 따른 디젤 엔진의 배기가스 저감에 관한 연구 (A study on the reduction of emission by controlled cooling system in a diesel engine)

  • These days the exhaustion of petroleum resources and environmental problems are getting serious. Many researchers are focused on low emission and high performance vehicles. Therefore, we should concern about emission regulation when we design a new car. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the traditional mechanical engine cooling systems which control the engine temperature using engine speed and wax type thermostat. This experiment used three components which are Radiator fan, water pump and water valve controlled by an electronic system based on the engine status (load, speed). We elucidated how different between traditional mechanical cooling system and electronic cooling system which control coolant temperature and coolant flow rate in a DI diesel engine in this paper. The results revealed a fuel saving and an emission (CO, HC) reduction on NEDC cycle.

  • This paper outlines the three main fieldbus type standards: Foundation Fieldbus; WorldFIP; and the Profibus, each of which have great advantages over traditional instrumentation networking technology. The paper shows, using their specification, how they improve traditional control and data acquisition methods. By analysing the main robust, how the can be used to distribute data around the control system, provided increased diagnostic information, are easy to implement, fault confinement, and move simple control operations from the main controller to the local environment. This will help to segment industrial plants into zones which can control themselves. The main control will then be responsibility high-level control. and interzone communications.
