  • The aim of this study was to analyze the design characteristics of Chinese fashion designer Feng Chen Wang and interpret their implicit meaning from a neo-deconstruction perspective. A review of domestic and foreign literature, outlined the develop- ment of deconstruction and neo-deconstruction, with neo-deconstruction's aesthetic features termed 'traditional fusion', 'positive playfulness', 'open communication', and 'multiple inclusiveness'. These features informed an analysis of Feng Chen Wang's fashion design. Four key findings emerged. First, 'traditional fusion' combines traditional Chinese colors, items, handicrafts, and patterns with modern design to break down boundaries between past and modern, tradition and fashion. Second, 'positive playfulness' promotes creativity and fun, using bright colors, exaggerated accessories, and playing withthe composition of traditional clothes to create a positive atmosphere. Third, 'open communication' emphasizes design that combines practicality and creati- vity in response to consumer needs, incorporating the thoughts arising from individual experiences and interest in social phenomena. Fourth, 'multiple inclusiveness' breaks down boundaries of sexuality, hierarchy, and body shape, embracing various ideas of beauty and respecting uniqueness through design that are seen as available to all. Using a neo-deconstruction perspective, Feng Chen Wang provides novel product planning ideas for Chinese fashion brands and reflects the values and meaning of modern design pursued by contemporary Chinese designers.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a modern use of traditional culture by developing creative fashion designs that combine modern and traditional styles based on an analysis of traditional costumes of women in the Tang Dynasty of China. The characteristics of the Tang Dynasty women's costume are as follows. The Tang Dynasty women's costume consists of a short coat (衫, Shan), skirt (裙, Qun), half-arm shawl (半臂, Banbi), and short embroidered cape (帔, Pei). The colors are succinct and elegant, commonly red, yellow, green and navy blue in its entirety. It may be classified by pattern that blend plant patterns, animal patterns, geometric patterns, and two or more mixed patterns. On the basis of the characteristics for traditional women's costume during the Tang Dynasty, the CLO 3D program is employed to develop digital fashion design for four pairs of 3D digital clothing and the production of two pairs of work product. The results are as follows. First, the development of fashion design reflecting the design characteristics of traditional women's clothing in the Tang Dynasty of China could be expressed as fashion design reflecting unique values while connecting tradition and modernity. Second, the 3D virtual clothing program displays an extremely important effect in design deployment and pattern arrangement by having efficiency and convenience in clothing production. The CLO 3D program is closely combined with the 2D design and 3D effect and heightened efficiency while being appropriate to realize sustainability while saving processing time and energy for the sample products. Third, the production of an actual product by facilitating the 3D virtual clothing design may lead to time savings and an effective economy and may allow for the comparison of digital fashion design and actual products as well as confirming the effects of digital fashion design.

  • This study aims to find new solutions to the problem of utilization of materials and techniques represented in the development of modern lighting design. LED is an important component in modern lighting design and pine tree is one of the most popular domestic wood in furniture design in Korea. In this study, design is developed into various types of furniture such as a table, a chest, and a lighting, by researching manufacturing process and examining the use of slicing pine tree. The technique of slicing pine tree is a simple linear arrangement that was traditionally used in wooden furniture in Lee dynasty, with an emphasis on repetitive rhythm. The slicing technology is used to expand the usage of domestic pine tree. The beauty of natural wood is expressed with the transmission of light by applying this technique to the lighting design. It also brings new communication in between artificial lighting and natural wood combining this traditional technique and LED lighting in design. Finally, this study suggests particular value through the convergence of analog and digital by using the traditional wooden technique that keeps natural wood prints and new digital technology by using LED lighting. More discussions and research about this subject are expected continuously through this study.

The purpose of this study lies in contributing to the development and utilization of creative and emotional fashion design by expanding the mental changes that have emerged in modern society to creative areas after analyzing the classification and expression characteristics of the type cases of patchwork quilt techniques expressed in modern fashion. In addition, it is meaningful to examine how the expressive characteristics of patchwork quilts are expressed in the digital emotion era. This study paralleled literature research and empirical case studies. In the scope and method of research, the theatrical research was centered on literature data. For visual data, website photos were collected, limited to women's clothing among the collections from Fall & Winter 2014 to Spring & Summer 2017. After drawing the expression types of patchwork quilts extracted from the previous research based on the design formative factors, the fashion-related expert group analyzed the expressive characteristics of 501 photographs in which the patchwork quilt of the designer clothing collection were reflected. As a result of analysis, the expressive types appeared in the order of diversification of techniques and materials, extended dual images, new formative composition, and reconstruction of traditional patchwork. In this study, the expressive characteristics of patchwork quilts expressed in contemporary fashion are analyzed and drawn as variability, compromise, convergence, and playfulness. • The standard model of Korean pavilions can embody the beauty of the Korean traditional and reflect the trend of the times, develop a universal and realistic model, and at the same time promote Korean traditional beauty internationally. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a standard model for living, industrializing, activating and globalizing Korean traditional pavilions while inheriting our own traditional technologies and preserving the legitimacy of Korean pavilions through a case study of Korean traditional pavilions. Considering the case analysis and modern trends, the plan was carried out in each part to present standard models for the representative types of traditional pavilion, Samojeong, Yukgakjeong, and Palgakjeong. The standard model has made some changes in design trends, including the installation of handrails and handrails to enhance utilization while considering legitimacy. The standard model presented in this way reflects the current design trend and can be changed in different forms depending on the trend at that time. The standard model of Korean pavilions developed this time can be said to be a universal and realistic model, while reproducing the beauty of Korean tradition.

  • As the transition to the digital age in the late 20th century, the intrinsic value of the craft, the emotional values of human, has been noticed as an alternative to overcome the adverse effects of the modernism of the industrial age. To introduce experimental tries which convergence of contemporary technologies and elements of traditional craft, and to inspire artists and present the new possibility of creation to them who want to take advantage of craft emotion as the elements of creation is the purpose of this study in the current digital technology age. First, the meaning and value of craft in modern times and digital media and hybrid creation environments are theoretically investigated based on previous studies and literature. Second, design cases produced by combining digital technology as a tool and craft elements are classified for substantial understanding of the design. Thirdly, identify the design characteristics presented through case studies and suggest the new possibility of creation. The results of the study are as follows. Reject typical types highlight the functional role and try free express conversion, e.g. form, material, texture, making process etc. Extracts the various elements that can be applied and search combining ways, because the convergence of digital technology and the craft is sufficient to activate the human emotion. Interaction between the craft and the digital medium is made actively. Craft accepts digital form, the craft appeared again as the contents of the digital. the traditional and digital method appropriately fused and utilized depending on the situation in process.
