  • In order to overcome the problem of fossil fuel energy, electric vehicle (EV) has been used in recent years. The important issues of EV are driving distance and lifetime related to EV efficiency. A voltage source converter is one of the main components of EV which can be operated with various pulse width modulation (PWM) schemes such as continuous PWM schemes and discontinuous PWM schemes. These PWM schemes will cause the effects on the efficiency of converter system and the lifetime of EV. Therefore, this paper proposes an analysis of the PWM schemes for the power converter on the EV. The objective is to find out a best solution for the EV by comparing the total harmonic distortion (THD) and transient response between the various PWM schemes. The operation of traction motor on the EV with the PWM schemes will be verified by using Psim simulation program.

  • Recently, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) drives are widely used for industrial applications due to its high efficiency and high power factor control strategy. PMSM generally have two classifications such as the SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) and IPMSM(Inter Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors). IPMSA has economical merits over SPMSM in higher speed range, mechanical robustness, and higher power rate by the geometric difference. The maximum torque operation in IPMSM is realized by the current angle control which is to utilize additional reluctance torque due to a rotor saliency. In traction, spindle and compressor drives, constant power operation with higher speed range are desirable. This is simply achieved in the DC motor drives by the reduction of the field current as the speed is increased. However, in the PMSM, direct control of the magnet flux is not available. The airgap flux can be weakened by the appropriate current angle control to demagnetize. In this paper, the control method of optimal current vector in IPMSM is described in order to obtain the maximum torque or maximum output with the speed and load variations. The applied algorithm is realized by the proto system with torque and speed control Experimental results show this approach is satisfied for the high performance servo applications.   • Semisolid process is possible in any material system possessing a freezing range where the microstructure should consist of the nondendritic globular solid phase separated and enclosed by the liquid phase, referred to as semisolid slurry. There are two primary semisolid processing routes, thixocasting and rheocasting. Especially, rheocasting process has become a new focus in the field of semisolid process because of its many advantages such as no special billet required and possibility of in-house scrap recycling, compared with the thixocasting process. In-Ladle direct thermal control (DTC) rheocasting has been developed, based on the fact that there is slurry and mush transition in every molten metal and the transition, which normally occurs in the range of liquid traction of 0.1 to 0.6, could be controlled by controlling solid shape and relative solid-liquid interfacial energy. In this study, A356 Al alloy was investigated to verify In-Ladle DTC rheocasting for obtaining semisolid slurry. Modeling of heat transfer was carried out to investigate the effect of pouring temperature and ladle material, geometry and temperature and the simulation results were compared with the actual experiments.

  • For over 25 years, the stray currents from DC electric railroads have caused serious interference problems with underground metallic infrastructures in Korea. The most serious interference is reported at the pipelines near the depot areas. Our field survey proves that this phenomena is mainly due to the missing of dedicated rectifiers for mainline, depot and/or workshop areas. Because it takes so much time and costs too much to replace the traction power system, we consider a stray current confinement method which collects the stray currents and drains them to the negative terminal of the rectifier. This can be realized by installing a stray current collecting wire along the depot boundary. Moreover, we found the stray current collecting reinforcement bar located beneath the rails of concrete slab tracks. Using this bar, we arc going to draing the stray currents from mainline rails. In this paper we show the result of field survey on railroad facilities and present the stray current confinement method under field test.

  • A newly-built inverter has to undergo a series of stress tests in the final stage of production line. This can be achieved by connecting it to a dynamometer consisting of a three-phase machine joined by a rigid shaft to a DC load machine. The latter is controlled to create some specific load characteristic needed for the test. In this paper a test method is proposed, in which no mechanical equipment is needed. The suggested test stand consists only of a inverter to be tested and a simulator converter. Both devices are connected back- to-back on the AC-side via smoothing reactors. The simulator operates in real-time as an equivalent load circuit, so that the device under test will only notice the behaviour of a three-phase machine under consideration of the load. In odor to wove rightness of the suggested test method, the simulation and actural experiment rallied out emulation for a 2.2kW induction motor.

  • 도시로의 집중현상에 따라 차량이 증가함으로 한정된 공간에서의 도시교통난이 계속 악화되고 있는 실정이다. 도로상의 불법 주ㆍ정차위반차량으로 인해 차량소통에 불편을 주고, 주거 및 교통환경을 저해하기 때문에 견인업무는 주차정책을 실현시키는 강력한 수단으로써 반드시 필요하지만, 우리나라에서 불법 주ㆍ정차 차량의 견인부분에 대한 연구 및 결과는 극히 미비한 실정이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 우리나라 주요 도시를 대상으로 불법 주ㆍ정차 차량의 견인운행 실태 및 특징을 비교, 견인제도의 문제점을 분석하여 개선방안을 검토하고자 하였다. 이의 내용으로는 각 시에서 추진 및 계획중인 지능형 교통체계(ITS), 버스 정보시스템(BIS) 및 차량 위치 자동 표시기(AVM)를 연계시켜 공차거리를 줄이는 등의 첨단체계를 구축하여 견인차량에 대한 운영을 효율적으로 하여야 할 것이고, 요금의 구조도 서울을 제외한 기존의 3단계 톤급별 요금구조에서 장래 대형차의 견인을 감안한 4단계의 톤급별 요금구조로의 조정방안이 필요하다. 견인비용에 있어서도 대부분의 도시가 수년전의 여건을 근거로 산출한 결과를 기준으로 요금을 징수하고 있어 현실에 맞지 않는 요금체계를 적용시키고 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 견인비용부분에 대하여도 장래의 경제여건을 감안한 탄력적 요금체계를 설정하여 경영합리화를 유도함이 바람직하다. 부가하여, 견인원가에 대한 사례분석 결과는 부천시를 중심으로 하여 현실성 있는 견인비용을 제시코자 하였다.

  • In this paper describes the research and development of a pipe robot for pipe rehabilitation construction of old water pipes. After the water supply pipe construction, the pipe is leaking, damaged, and aging due to corrosion. Eventually, resistance to the flow of water in lower supply efficiency and contaminated water such as rusty water, finally in various consumer complaints. In order to solve this problem, rehabilitation construction robot technology is required to secure the construction quality of pipe rehabilitation construction and restore the function of the initial construction period. The developed pipe rehabilitation construction robot required a hydraulic actuator for high traction and was equipped with a small hydraulic supply device. In addition, we have developed a hydraulic cylinder and a link system that supports the pipe inner diameter to develop a single pipe robot corresponding to 500 to 800mm pipe diameter. The analysis and experimental verification of the driving performance and unit function of the developed pipe reconstruction robot are explained, and the result of the integrated performance test of the pipe reconstruction robot at the water supply pipe network site is explained.

  • The medical sector actively changes and implements innovative features in response to technical development and revolutions. Many of the most crucial elements in IoT-connected health services are safeguarding critical patient records from prospective attackers. As a result, BlockChain (BC) is gaining traction in the business sector owing to its large implementations. As a result, BC can efficiently handle everyday life activities as a distributed and decentralized technology. Compared to other industries, the medical sector is one of the most prominent areas where the BC network might be valuable. It generates a wide range of possibilities and probabilities in existing medical institutions. So, throughout this study, we address BC technology's widespread application and influence in modern medical systems, focusing on the critical requirements for such systems, such as trustworthiness, security, and safety. Furthermore, we built the shared ledger for blockchain-based healthcare providers for patient information, contractual between several other parties. The study's findings demonstrate the usefulness of BC technology in IoHT for keeping patient health data. The BDSA-IoHT eliminates 2.01 seconds of service delay and 1.9 seconds of processing time, enhancing efficiency by nearly 30%.

Defect Detection of Steel Wire Rope in Coal Mine Based on Improved YOLOv5 Deep Learning

  • The wire rope is an indispensable production machinery in coal mines. It is the main force-bearing equipment of the underground traction system. Accurate detection of wire rope defects and positions exerts an exceedingly crucial role in safe production. The existing defect detection solutions exhibit some deficiencies pertaining to the flexibility, accuracy and real-time performance of wire rope defect detection. To solve the aforementioned problems, this study utilizes the camera to sample the wire rope before the well entry, and proposes an object based on YOLOv5. The surface small-defect detection model realizes the accurate detection of small defects outside the wire rope. The transfer learning method is also introduced to enhance the model accuracy of small sample training. Herein, the enhanced YOLOv5 algorithm effectively enhances the accuracy of target detection and solves the defect detection problem of wire rope utilized in mine, and somewhat avoids accidents occasioned by wire rope damage. After a large number of experiments, it is revealed that in the task of wire rope defect detection, the average correctness rate and the average accuracy rate of the model are significantly enhanced with those before the modification, and that the detection speed can be maintained at a real-time level.

Perceptual Study on Higher Level Digitilization Among Managers in the Logistics Industry

  • Purpose: The study attempts to explore the operational performance of the existing Malaysian logistics companies and the extent of their adoption of digitalization. The role of digitalization in enhancing the performance of companies in the logistics industry in Malaysia, for value creation, is the topic of study. Research design, data and methodology: A qualitative research method with a semi-structured interview approach was applied and judgmental sampling was used as the sampling technique to collect data. The research has chosen nine companies in the logistics industry in Peninsular Malaysia, with the interviews aimed at eleven members of top and middle-level management. Data analysis was performed using logical system techniques to examine and evaluate data, reorganizing feedback, comparing it with literature, and transforming it into structured, valuable information after interviews. Results: The study revealed mixed opinions on digitalization in logistics, despite its potential benefits such as improved operational efficiency, real-time information, and customer service. However, high costs may hinder financial performance and require revisions due to stakeholder involvement. Conclusions: The Malaysian logistics industry's adoption of digitalization is gaining traction, with most companies satisfied with their status. However, challenges like cost and inefficiency persist, prompting calls for government support to improve efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring sustainable transportation.
