[ $H_{\infty}$ ] Pressure Control of Pneumatic Valve Driven by Piezoactuators (압전 작동기로 구동 되는 공압 밸브의 $H_{\infty}$ 압력제어)

  • This paper proposes a new type of piezoactuator-driven valve system. The piezoceramic actuator bonded to both sides of a flexible beam surface makes a movement required to control the pressure at the flapper-nozzle of a pneumatic valve system. After establishing a dynamic model, an appropriate size of the valve system is designed and manufactured. Subsequently, a robust $H_{\infty}$ control algorithm is formulated in order to achieve accurate tracking control of the desired pressure. The controller is experimentally realized and control performance for the sinusoidal pressure trajectory is presented in time domain. The control bandwidth of the valve system, which directly represents the fastness, is also evaluated in the frequency domain.

  • Controller refinement scheme to improve the performance of a conventional system automatically in frequency domain is proposed. The controller automatic tuning method features using experimental frequency responses of the conventional closed-loop system, the conventional controller, and the improved closed-Imp system; instead of poorly modeled plant due to non-linearities and disturbances. The improved closed-loop system characteristics is automatically acquired by the conventional closed-loop system characteristics and the proposed performance index in system bandwidth. And the proper controller is realized by least squares approximation in frequency domain. To testify the usefulness of the approach, experimental results of robot path-tracking control applied with various controllers is used, and then is analyzed with respect to a equivalent proportional controller. Experimental results and analytic results are well-matched.

  • Servo performance of a disk drive is greatly affected by the mechanical resonance frequencies of the head gimbal assembly(HGA). It is important (actor to allow broader bandwidth for servo system in improving overall drive performance. In this paper, an optimal design for ODD suspension is attempted to increase resonance frequencies. It was decided that the first resonant frequency in tracking direction was higher than 5㎑.   • It is the purpose of this paper to make a preliminary study on the use of repetitive control to improve velocity accuracy by eliminating repetitive disturbances caused by machining inaccuracies of the axis of rotation location. If the control system can be intelligent enough to compensate for such machining errors, then one may be able to improve the accuracy of the velocity control, or alternatively, one may maintain the same accuracy and relax the machining tolerances required. This could decrease cost significantly. Experiments are performed testing repetitive control methods on a constant speed rolling operation testbed. The experimental results show very substantial decreases in the tracking error of the system. Spectral data of the output motion are given to demonstrate the attenuation of the disturbance frequencies and harmonics, related to the bandwidth being used. It is seen that the simplest form of repetitive control which is very easily implemented, can produce striking improvement in control system performance in such belt drive rolling operations, and the learning can be accomplished in a short time.

Subsequently, a sliding mode controller which is known to be robust to uncertainties such as disturbance is formulated in order to achieve accurate regulating and tracking control of the desired pressure. The controller is experimentally realized and control performances for various pressure trajectories are presented in time domain. The control bandwidth of the valve system which directly represents the fastness is also evaluated in the frequency domain.

  • As the digital system with high sampling rates is required to process numerous data, it is difficult to realize the real time processing for this system. By using the nonlinear energy tracking signal operator, in this paper four kinds of AM/FM demodulators are proposed and designed by the undersampling scheme of decreasing the sampling rate. Particularly, the undersampling frequency and 3dB bandwidth are controllable of these systems and their conditions are respectively. Through the analysis of the designed detectors, useful results are obtained in respect to characteristics and errors.

  • Measurement of network traffic have shown that the self-similarity is a ubiquitous phenomenon spanning across diverse network environments. In previous work, we have explored the feasibility of exploiting the long-range correlation structure in a self-similar traffic for the congestion control. we show that a multiple time scale TCP endows the underlying feedback control with proactivity by bridging the uncertainty gap associated with reactive controls which is exacerbated by the high delay-bandwidth product in broadband wide area networks. Third, we investigate the influence of the three traffic control dimensions-tracking ability, connection duration, and fairness-on performance.

  • The characteristics of servo-multipliers and its accuracies are analyzed. From the analysis a low cost high accuracy four quadrant servo-multiplier with first derivative output feedback is built. The multiplier servomechanism has a second order system response with a damping ratio of 0.8 and computing bandwidth of 4 cycles per second, and its tracking accuracy at low speed of 0.5 volt per second is 0.9 per cent of maximum output voltage and static accuracy is better than 0.6 per cent. Method of testing this multiplier and the results are also described. The test on the characteristics of the multiplier shows that the results agree with theoretical values satisfactorily, and justifies the use of the servo-multiplier for slow type analog computers.

A Looping Problem in the Tree-Based Mobility Management for Mobile IP Supported Ad Hoc Networks

  • A loop can take place in the process of managing tree topology for mobility management of mobile nodes in infrastructure-based mobile ad hoc networks. The formation of a loop degrades an effective bandwidth of the wireless network by passing an identical message repeatedly within the same loop. Therefore, the loop should be resolved to revert the system back to the normal state. In this paper, we propose a simple and novel mechanism that detects and resolves a loop quickly by tracking the depth of trees. The mobility management approach that employs the loop resolution method is evaluated comparatively with the original tree-based one and the hybrid one. It is shown that the proposed approach far outperforms the other approaches, and it is robust against the rapid changes in network topology.
