Study on Influence of Carbon Nanotubes and Alumina Additives to Lubrication and Wear Characteristics (카본 나노튜브 및 알루미나 첨가제가 윤활 및 마모특성에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • In this work, carbon nanotube and nano-size alumina particle are exploited as additive for lubrication experiment. We used pin-on-disk type tribometer to investigate the tribological characteristics of lubricants with respect to additives and rotational speed. We conducted more than 15 trials of tribotests for two hours for each specimen to obtain stable and accurate frictional force and to create measurable wear track on the substrate. We conducted tests at the boundary/mixed lubrication regime to evaluate the influence of additives on the tribological characteristics. We found that the friction coefficient decreased as the rotational speed increased and as additives were added. In particular, the reduction of friction by adding additives was more significant at low rotational speed than at high rotational speed. We speculate that the additives helped to separate and protect the two contacting surfaces at low speed, while the influence of additives was not significant at high speed since sufficiently thick lubricant film was formed. The wear of the substrate was also reduced by adding additives to the lubricant. However, in contrast to friction, the amount of wear at high rotational speed was less when alumina particles were added to the lubricant than the amount of wear at low speed. We speculate that the increased wear at low rotational speed is as a result of the intermittent abrasive wear caused by alumina particles with uneven shape, while the reduced wear at high speed is as a result of sufficient film thickness which prevented the abrasive wear.

Verified 20-car Model of High-speed Train for Dynamic Response Analysis of Railway Bridges (검증된 고속철도 차량의 20량편성 정밀모형에 의한 철도교량의 동적응답 분석)

  • The aim of this study is to develop a 3-dimensional dynamic analysis model, capable of considering the interaction between vehicles and bridges more accurately. The dynamic analysis model is developed with the high-speed train (KTX) and a 2-span continuous prestressed concrete box girder bridge with a double track. The 20-car model is developed using the moving vehicle model for the regular trainset. Three-dimensional frame elements are used for the bridge model. Using the developed models, a dynamic behavior analysis program is coded. The analytical results are compared with the dynamic field test results and found to be valid to yield quite accurate dynamic responses. Based on the results of this study, the hybrid model, made up of the moving vehicle model for the heaviest power car and the moving force model for the other cars, is quite simple and effective without loosing the accuracy that much. Under the coincidence condition of two trains traveling with resonance velocity in the opposite directions, it is necessary to check not only the dynamic responses of the bridge with one-way traffic but those with two- way coincidence.

Tracking a Walking Motion Based on Dynamics Using a Monocular Camera (단일 카메라를 이용한 동역학 기반의 보행 동작 추적)

  • Gait analysis is an examination which extracts objective information from observing human gait and assesses the function. The equipments used recently for gait analysis are expensive due to multiple cameras and force plates, and require the large space to set up the system. In this paper, we proposed a method to measure human gait motions in 3D from a monocular video. Our approach was based on particle filtering to track human motion without training data and previous information about a gait. We used dynamics to make physics-based motions with the consideration of contacts between feet and base. In a walking sequence, our approach showed the mean angular error of $12.4^{\circ}$ over all joints, which was much smaller than the error of $34.6^{\circ}$ with the conventional particle filter. These results showed that a monocular camera is able to replace the existing complicated system for measuring human gait quantitatively.

A Study of Contents Arrangement in Conning Display (선박항법기기 화면의 배치에 관한 연구)

  • The conning display which is located in the ship bridge shows the various important information such as ship position, ship speed, track data, rate of turn, thruster rpm so on, and is one of the IBSs(Integrated Bridge Systems). In this study, the survey was conducted for ten officers to find the importance and using frequency of the information which were displayed in the conning display. The results showed that the information of drift speed, ship speed, wind direction and wind force, rate of turn, sea water depth, ship position, heading, thrust rpm, alarm, rudder command and angle got high scores and it meant that these information were very important and high frequency of use during the navigation. The optimized contents arrangement in conning display was suggested based on importance and using frequency of information. The experiment using eye-tracking system was conducted to compare the performance time and error rate of nine different scenarios for suggested arrangement display and three other existing displays. The results showed that the suggested arrangement was the best in performance time and error rate. The scenario concerning the direction and speed of wind showed faster performance time and lower error rate than other scenarios. The movement of subject's eye tended to search from the center and to avoid the comer, called 'the comer effect.' It is expected that the results of this study could help for the bridge staff to grasp the sailing information easily and to cope with the given situations promptly.

  • The impact forces of the highly nonlinear waves are one of the important factors in designing the ocean structures. The impact forces are very difficult to analyze numerically and experimentally because they are impulsive in magnitude and occur instantaneously. In this study the numerical program based on N.S. equations are used to investigate the impact forces of steep waves where the waves are gene rated by the wave maker in the numerical wave basin. The arbitrary steep waves are generated by the superposition of waves of single frequency and the impact forces on vertical cylinder are simulated on the multiblock grids. V.O.F. and the local height function methods are used to track the free surfaces. To validate the numerical analysis the numerical results are compared with the experimental ones and the acceptable agreements are found. It is thought that more studies on the simulations of the incoming breaking waves and the impact forces on the vertical cylinder should be made to obtain the useful results to be applied in the offshore design.

Robust Filtering Algorithm for Improvement of Air Navigation System (항행시스템 성능향상을 위한 강인한 필터링 알고리즘)

  • Among various fields of the CNS/ATM, the surveillance field which includes ADS-B system, MLAT system, and WAM system is implemented. These next generation systems provide superior performance in tracking aircrafts. However, They still have error. In this paper, filtering algorithm is proposed in order to enhance aircraft tracking performance of ADS-B, MLAT, and WAM systems. The proposed method is a Robust Interacting Multiple Model filter, called Robust IMM filter, that improves IMM filter. The Robust IMM filter can not only improves the aircraft tracking performance but also track aircraft continually using estimates calculated from the filter when data losses occur. The simulation results of the proposed aircraft tracking methods show that the filtering data provides a better performance up to an average of 19.21%.

  • "China", "Guang-Xi(廣西)", "Dong-Shan(東山)", a marriage of "Yao-zu(瑤族)" divide mainly into a distinguished family form, but are by a marriage of a traditional general form (a woman getting married) and "Zhaoxu-Hun(招婿婚)", a marriage of "Liangtou-che(兩頭扯)". These two marriage format that mentioned the back is a marriage format to often appear in other Chinese minority race region while being a custom peculiar to "Yao-zu(瑤族)" marriage method. "Zhaoxu-Hun(招婿婚)" provides labor force as a workman while living with a man sinks with "son-in-law" to a woman house, and doing, and it is to carry out a lot of duty as a husband too. "A Liangtou-che(兩頭扯)" marriage is more characteristic, but lives while going around a bilateral family while man and woman each stay in an own house. There are inheritance of property rights to own family, too and obeys anger of he direction family bilateral where if lays a child even if stands up and holds a memorial service. At the same time that these marriages are performed between the same "Yao-zu(瑤族)" near a track, and solution does a distribution problem between a labor problem and the families which were unstable through a mutual marriage for the purpose a compunction "Yao-zu(瑤族)" social network construction into intimacy anger.   • Sophisticated Air Navigation System has contributed to enhancing the capacity of airspace capacity, leading to an efficient airspace environment. However, it has acted as a factor increasing the probability of collision. When an aircraft fails to maintain vertical separation and instead exhibits lateral positional errors, it does not necessarily lead to a collision. However, as the lateral positional accuracy increases, the randomness of aircraft positions decrease, resulting in an elevated probability of collisions. Consequently, The International Civil Aviation Organization has introduced Strategic Lateral Offset Procedures(SLOP), intentionally deviating aircraft from the centerline of airways. Likewise, South Korea also operates Offset procedure. The Y579 was operated using the Offset before its conversion to a dual airway and the analysis of the Offset track revealed that it was being operated similarly to a unidirectional dual airway. This paper develops a safety assessment methodology applicable to unidirectional dual airways, and applies it to perform a safety assessment of the Y579 Offset procedure.

Study on a Propulsion Control of the Roller Coasters Train based on Air Cored Linear Synchronous Motor (공심형 선형동기전동기 기반의 궤도열차 추진제어에 관한 연구)

  • To accelerate a heavy roller coaster train with over 1G force, a lot of thrust is required and linear synchronous motor(LSM) as propulsion method is suitable for this kind of system. To increase the propulsion efficiency of LSM, precise and real-time position information of vehicle is required for accurate phase control. However, the discontinuous position information with relatively long time interval is usually transmitted from the hall-sensors on the track every magnet length. In this paper, the basic motor model based on traditional dq-axis equations is described and the motor dynamic model is produced by considering the cogging force and friction loss. To improve the position accuracy, the position estimator is also proposed for LSM control system. Simulations were performed to check the characteristics of the torque control system which includes the position estimator based on the motor model. Simulation results based on the linearized model show that this control system has an enough bandwidth and phase margin and the executed algorithm achieves an ideal effect to follow the real-time position signal. Therefore, the feasibility of position estimator is also confirmed.

Analysis of pneumatic braking component effects and characteristics of a diesel electric locomotive (디젤전기기관차의 공압제동 영향인자 및 특성 분석)

  • This paper deals with the braking dynamic behavior of diesel electric locomotive pulling domestic cargo and passenger vehicles. Friction coefficient, pneumatic pressure, and running resistance affecting the braking system were tested. For the friction coefficient, the Dynamo test was performed with reference to UIC 541-4. The results are analyzed by multivariate regression and the relationship between braking force and ititial velocity is presented. The pneumatic pressure were classified into service braking and emergency braking. In order to reflect the characteristics of the brake valve and piping, the pressure rising over time was measured in the vehicle. In order to reflect the external force acting on the vehicle, we carried out the test of EN 14067-4 and presented the second order polynomial formula on a running resistance. The running resistance test results were compared with other countries. The dynamic behavior of a diesel electric locomotive running on a straight flat track based on vehicle resources, friction coefficient, braking pressure, and running resistance is simulated using the time integration presented in EN 14531-1. The simulation results were compared and verified with the vehicle braking test results. The results of this study can be used to analyze the dynamic braking behavior of a train. Also, it is expected that various parameters affecting braking in vehicle design can be analyzed and used as basic data for braking performance improvement.
