Energy industry facilities can cause fatal damage for internal industry employee as well as external general people because handling various kinds of gas and harmful substance might be spread to large scale severe accident by fire, explosion, and toxic gas leakage. In order to prevent these accidents, quantification by damage effect on structure and human is tried by using quantitative risk assessment, but it is difficult to process instantly exceptional cases and requires knowledge of expert. This paper aims to minimize exceptional cases and knowledge of expert, and present risk with human perceptible. So, we designed and developed zone-base risk analysis system that can compute risk of zone in real time at that point using database and incremental model.
Semiconducting metal oxides have been frequently used as gas sensing materials. While zinc oxide is a popular material for such applications, structures such as nanowires, nanorods and nanotubes, due to their large surface area, are natural candidates for use as gas sensors of higher sensitivity. The compound ZnO has been studied, due to its chemical and thermal stability, for use as an n-type semiconducting gas sensor. ZnO has a large exciton binding energy and a large bandgap energy at room temperature. Also, ZnO is sensitive to toxic and combustible gases. The NO gas properties of zinc oxide-single wall carbon nanotube (ZnO-SWCNT) composites were investigated. Fabrication includes the deposition of porous SWCNTs on thermally oxidized $SiO_2$ substrates followed by sputter deposition of Zn and thermal oxidation at $400^{\circ}C$ in oxygen. The Zn films were controlled to 50 nm thicknesses. The effects of microstructure and gas sensing properties were studied for process optimization through comparison of ZnO-SWCNT composites with ZnO film. The basic sensor response behavior to 10 ppm NO gas were checked at different operation temperatures in the range of $150-300^{\circ}C$. The highest sensor responses were observed at $300^{\circ}C$ in ZnO film and $250^{\circ}C$ in ZnO-SWCNT composites. The ZnO-SWCNT composite sensor showed a sensor response (~1300%) five times higher than that of pure ZnO thin film sensors at an operation temperature of $250^{\circ}C$.
This study investigated sensitivity of the gas sensor to chemical weapons with the sensor material doped with catalysts. The nano-sized SnO2 powder mixed with metal oxides (TiO2) was doped with transition metals(Pt, Pd and In). Thick film of nano-sized SnO2 powder with TiO2 was prepared by screen-printing method onto Al2O3 substrates with platinum electrode and chemical precipitation method. The physical and chemical properties of sensor material were investigated by SEM/EDS, XRD and BET analyzers. The measured sensitivity to simulant toxic gas is defined as the percentage of resistance of value equation, [(Ra-Rg)/$Ra\;{\times}100$)], that of the resistance(Ra) of SnO2 film in air and the resistance(Rg) of SnO2 film in acetonitrile gas. The best sensitivity and selectivity of these thick film were shown with 1wt.% Pd and 1wt.% TiO2 for acetonitile gas at the operating temperature of $250^{\circ}C$.
With the recent development of industrial technology, the problem of odor due to leakage of toxic gas discharged from industrial complexes is gradually increasing. Among them, hydrogen sulfide is a colorless representative odorous substance that can cause pain through irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes and respiratory tract, and is a gas that can cause central nervous system paralysis and suffocation when exposed to high concentrations. Therefore, in order to improve the odor problem, research on a gas sensor capable of quickly and reliably detecting a leak of hydrogen sulfide is being actively conducted. A lot of research has been done on the existing metal oxide-based hydrogen sulfide gas sensor, but it has the disadvantage of requiring low selectivity and high temperature operating conditions. Therefore, in this study, a Pt/CNT-based electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensor capable of detecting at low temperatures with high selectivity for hydrogen sulfide was developed. A working electrode capable of selectively detecting only hydrogen sulfide was fabricated by synthesizing Pt nanoparticles as a catalyst on functionalized CNT and applied to an electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensor. It was confirmed that the manufactured Pt/CNT-based electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensor has a current change of up to 100uA for hydrogen sulfide, and the both response time and recovery time were within 15 seconds.
Among various types of harmful gases, hydrogen sulfide is a strong toxic gas that is mainly generated during spillage and wastewater treatment at industrial sites. Hydrogen sulfide can irritate the conjunctiva even at low concentrations of less than 10 ppm, cause coughing, paralysis of smell and respiratory failure at a concentration of 100 ppm, and coma and permanent brain loss at concentrations above 1000 ppm. Therefore, rapid detection of hydrogen sulfide among harmful gases is extremely important for our safety, health, and comfortable living environment. Most hydrogen sulfide gas sensors that have been reported are electrical resistive metal oxide-based semiconductor gas sensors that are easy to manufacture and mass-produce and have the advantage of high sensitivity; however, they have low gas selectivity. In contrast, the electrochemical sensor measures the concentration of hydrogen sulfide using an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen sulfide, an electrode, and an electrolyte. Electrochemical sensors have various advantages, including sensitivity, selectivity, fast response time, and the ability to measure room temperature. However, most electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensors depend on imports. Although domestic technologies and products exist, more research is required on their long-term stability and reliability. Therefore, this study includes the processes from electrode material synthesis to sensor fabrication and characteristic evaluation, and introduces the sensor structure design and material selection to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of the sensor. A sensor case was fabricated using a 3D printer, and an Ag reference electrode, and a Pt counter electrode were deposited and applied to a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filter using PVD. The working electrode was also deposited on a PTFE filter using vacuum filtration, and an electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensor capable of measuring concentrations as low as 0.6 ppm was developed.
In this work, a nickel metal (Ni) electroplating on the activated carbon fiber (Ni/ACFs) surfaces was carried out to remove the toxic hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas. The surface properties of the treated ACFs were determined by using nitrogen adsorption isotherms at 77 K, SEM, and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. HCl removal efficiency was confirmed by a gas-detecting tube technique. As a result, the nickel metal contents on the ACF surfaces were increased with increasing the plating time. And, it was found that the specific surface area or the micropore volume of the ACFs studied was slightly decreased as increasing the plating time. Whereas, it was revealed that the HCl removal efficiency containing nickel metal showed higher efficiency values than that of untreated ACFs. These results indicated that the presence of nickel metal on the ACF surfaces played an important role in improving the HCl removal over the Ni/ACFs, due to the catalytic reactions between nickel and chlorine.

Thin films of SnO2, SnO2-ZnO and ZnO were prepared by the spray. chemical vapor deposition and vacuum evaporation method. They had good sensitivity to various gases involving toxic gases(i. e. SO2, CO). The change in conductivity of thin film guts sensors prepared was considered as the change in carrier concentration caused by gas absorption. And also the conductivity of the thin film elements had great dependence on atmospheric pressuie around them.

The passive open-path Fourier-Transform-Infrared system was implemented for the toxic gas monitoring. Noise Equivalent Differential Temperature(NEDT) was investigated as a system performance evaluation figure and analyzed numerically with the designed parameters. Calculated NEDT was compared with the experimental value in the wavelength region of $700{\sim}1400cm^{-1}^$. The minimum detectable gas concentration was estimated from the obtained NEDT at the absorption wavelength of $SF_6$.

It is well known that the metallo-phthalocyanines (MPcs) are sensitive to toxic gaseous molecules such as NO$_2$ and also chemically and thermally stable and it is recently reported that SnO$_2$ thin films have a selective sensitivity to NO$_2$ and SO$_2$ gas. Therefore, it is interesting to prepare phthalo-cyanine Langmuir-Boldgett(LB) films containing tin as a chemical sensor for NO$_2$ and SO$_2$ gas and test the selectivity with these tin containing LB films. First, in this study, ultra thin films of Octa (2-ethylhexyloxy) tin-phthalocyanine were prepared on various substrates by LB method. $\pi$-A isotherm and transfer characteristics of these films were investigated. The formation of these films was determined by ellipsometry. Intrinsic current-voltage(I-V) characteristics of these films were also measured.

This research aims to develop parts for advanced fuel/oil filtering re-circulation applicable to this kind of regulation proof engines. These parts can playa role of converting traditional air emission type crankcase into recovery type crankcase so that the engine can deal with environmental regulations, which do not allow minimal amount of toxic gas discharge. For the experiment, test method and specially made testing equipment are prepared. The results showed that oil separation efficiency of the cone type CCV(Crank Case Ventilation) system was higher than one of cylinder type both in bench test and in engine.
