초고속선 실험을 위한 신형식 예인전차의 현가장치 설계시안 (Design Idea of Suspension for Traction Wheel of Novel High Speed Towing Carriage)

  • In the conventional towing tank, the ordinary towing carriage has a speed barrier which caused not only by the limitation of the length of towing tank but also the limitation of acceleration. Therefore the length of the towing tank should be decided carefully from the planning stage of the towing tank construction. Consequently the acceleration of the towing carriage should be taken less than 0.06g practically to avoid the slip of the wheel on rail. Due to the increasing demand of the high speed experiments on the development of special novel ship, the requirement of the high speed towing carriage is continuously increased recently. When the minimum measuring time of the towing experiment is prescribed as five seconds, the carriage should be accelerated with higher than 0.12 g to get the speed of 18 m/sec even in the towing tank having a length of 400m in length approximately. This means that the requirement of acceleration is bigger than twice of the ordinary practices of carriage acceleration. In such a condition the exerted total power of motor could not converted to traction force for the acceleration of the carriage without slip. To over come these difficulties a pair of horizontal traction wheels are reinforced to each of the ordinary vertical carrier wheel and appropriate suspension system has been devised for the towing tank of super high speed operation. It is believed that the design of novel suspension system adaptable for the high speed acceleration of towing carriage will play a important role as a reference for the remodeling of the towing tank for high speed experiment.

  • Since 1967 the Towing Tank of Inha University has been planed constracted and was completed 1971. The size of the tank is 79m length, 5m width 3m depth. At one end of the tank, 18kw wave maker is installed which can produce regular and irregular waves, max. 6m length 40cm height. The towing carriage is driven by four 2.2kw motor and reuglated by electronic speed regulator, and it's max. towing speed is 2.5m/sec, resistance dynamometer and some other instruments including clamp, towing guide etc. are designed and made by us. Here under, the authors wish to give some details of facilities and calibrated performance of the towing carriage, wave maker and resistance measuring system.

  • The objective of this paper is to suggest a new method of a wind turbine performance test. The performance test of a wind turbine is generally carried out in a wind tunnel. The test needs not only a high-accuracy measuring system but also durable structure to withstand high speed turbine rotation and wind flow. Therefore, we tried turbine performance test using a towing tank to improve stability and reliability. Because a turbine rotates more slowly and generates more torque in the water than in the wind tunnel under similarity conditions. In this study, we developed turbine performance test systems and verified the turbine test method using a towing tank through comparing results of the wind tunnel and the towing tank test.

  • Model tests using 2.0m model of the series 60 form( $C_{b}$= 0.6) were carried out in the Circulating Water Channel (CWC) in the Chosun University (CU, Korea) for the purpose of a correlative study with Towing Tank (TT). Resistance, propeller open water, self propulsion and wake survey tests were carried out and the results were extrapolated to the ship scale. These results were compared with the extrapolated ship values based on the model test of 7.0m model in the TT at the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO, Korea). The CWC test results were correlated with the results of the towing tank tests.s.

고속 예인시스템을 이용한 단을 가진 활주형선의 저항특성 고찰 (A Study on the Resistance Characteristics of a Stepped Planing Hull Using a High-Speed Towing System)

  • With increasing demands of high speed transportation, recently a lot of high speed marine vehicles, such as SWATH, semi-planing craft, planing craft, hydrofoil craft, SES and so on, have been paid attention especially in high speed region over the Froude number 0.5. The resistance characteristics of the vehicles should be experimentally evaluated in the towing tank. At the Seoul National University, a light-weight cantilever type towing carriage was devised and installed in the towing tank. Wireless measurement devices were also provided for appropriate data acquisition during high-speed towing tests. With the new carriage system, a series of model tests were performed to investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics of a stepped planning hull in the towing tank and the resistance performances of the hull are introduced in this report.

  • This paper deals with the experimental works for the correlations of ice resistance for icebreaker with synthetic(model) ice in general towing tank and with refrigerated ice in ice tank. In order to find out the correlation, the density variation is mainly focused in the present study. The model of Terry-Fox ice breaker has been used for the present correlation study because many data are available to be compared. According to the increase of density, the correlation becomes better quantitatively as well as qualitatively. Other parametric studies such as an ice size, a friction coefficient, a bending moment, etc., are also expected to be carried out to have better correlation in a near future. This research could be the basis for the possibility of resistance test using a synthetic ice in a general towing tank instead of an expensive ice tank.

  • 예인수조에서 저항추진 성능을 추정하기 위한 선형시험을 수행한 때는 계측정도에 나쁜 영향을 주는 불안정현상에 유의하여야 한다. 불안정현상을 일으키는 큰 원인인 수조수 수심에 따른 수온의 불균일, 연중 수온의 변화, 난류촉진장치, 저항시험 사의 이복현상에 대해 검토하였다. 그리고 수조수 순환, 수조동 난방, 탈기장지 및 난류촉진장치의 개선 등을 그 해결 방안으로 제시하였다.

예인수조에서 방향스펙트럼파의 수치적 및 실험적 재현 (Numerical and Experimental Simulation of Directional Waves in Towing Tank)

  • 본 논문은 소오스 분포법(Source Distribution Method)을 사용하여 측벽 반사효과를 고려한 수치파수조에서의 방향스펙트럼파의 재현과 규칙파로부터 구해진 조파기의 진폭 전달함수를 적용시켜 부산대학교 예인수조에서 실험적으로 재현한 장파정 불규칙파 및 방향스펙트럼파에 대한 연구결과이다. 수치적 재현의 경우 최적의 조파기 설계를 위하여 파 주기의 변화에 따라 조파판과 수조폭을 변화시켜 방향분포함수의 변화를 고찰하였다. 실험적 재현의 경우 장파정 불규칙파와 방향스펙트럼파에 대해서 수조의 길이방향 변화에 따른 파워 스펙트럼 및 통계적 특성치를 비교하여 그 차이점을 살펴보았다. 방향스펙트럼파의 경우 방향분포함수의 변화도 살펴보았다.

  • A light-weight cantilever type towing carriage was devised and installed in the towing tank at Seoul National University. Wireless measurement devices were also provided for appropriate data acquisition during high-speed towing tests. With the new carriage system, a series of model tests were performed to investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics of the racing boat in the towing tank and the resistance test results had sufficient accuracy so that they could be used in the development of a high speed planning hull.
