  • In the present study, the injection molding optimization of a large thick LH type elastic frames for the reduction of warpage was performed. Two kinds of fine and coarse finite element models were prepared to investigate the efficiency of analysis time and quality on simulation results. In order to derive injection molding conditions that can minimize distortion of parts, it was investigated that the effects of mold temperature, resin temperature, injection time, hold pressure switching time, holding pressure and the hold time on deformation characteristics using the design of experiments. The main influential factors on the warpage were found from the optimization simulation and the geometry data of the warpage result was converted into an initial model for injection simulation. It was shown that a coarse model with good mesh quality could be adapted for mold design since the total analysis time using the proposed model was reduced to 1/10. The suggested inversed warpage model produced the best minimized result of warpage.

  • In this paper the CSCM type upwind flux difference splitting Navier-Stokes method has been applied to study the ARL-SL19 transoni $c^ersonic compressor cascade flow. First, the general characteristics of baseline cascade flow were analyzed. At freestream Mach n.1.612 and exit/inlet pressure ratio 2.15, the results from current laminar flow were compared well in suction surface with the experiment; however, not well in pressure surface. Second, numerical study of the transoni $c^ersonic compressor cascade flow demonstrated the effectiveness of a passive control by the various size cavities. A cavity under the shock foot point at the suction surface of the blades was used as a passive control. The passive control of shock-boundary layer interaction by a cavity reduced total pressure losses. The effect of cavity length and depth was studied. The total pressure loss was reduced by about 10% and the isentropic efficiency was improved slightly. The effect of cavity depth in current study(d/l = 0.05, 0.02) was not found strong. Further adequate turbulence modeling and TVD schemes would help to capture the shock more accurately and increase the effectiveness of the current shock-boundary layer interaction study using upwind flux difference splitting computational methods.thods.

  • In this study, stator shroud injection in a single-stage transonic axial compressor is proposed. A parametric study of the effect of stator shroud injection on aerodynamic performances was conducted using the three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The curvature, length, width, and circumferential angle of the stator shroud injector and the air injection mass flow rate were selected as the test parameters. The results of the parametric study show that the aerodynamic performances of the single-stage transonic axial compressor were improved by stator shroud injection. The aerodynamic performances were the most sensitive to the injection mass flow rate. Further, the total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency were the maximum when the ratio of circumferential angle was 10%.

  • A multi-objective optimization of a regenerative fan for enhancing the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance was carried out using an integrated fan design system, namely, Total FAN-Regen$^{(R)}$. The Total FAN-Regen$^{(R)}$ was developed for non-specialists to carry out a series of design process, viz., computational preliminary design, three-dimensional aerodynamic and aeroacoustic analyses, and design optimization, for a regenerative fan. An aerodynamic analysis of the regenerative fan was conducted by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations using the shear stress transport turbulence model. And, an aeroacoustic analysis of the regenerative fan was implemented in a finite/infinite element method by solving the variational formulation of Lighthill's analogy based on the results of the unsteady flow analysis. An optimum shape obtained by Total FAN-Regen$^{(R)}$ shows the enhanced efficiency and decreased sound pressure level as much as 1.5 % and 20.0 dB, respectively, compared to those of the reference design. The performance test was carried out for an optimized regenerative fan to validate the performance of the numerically predicted optimal design.

  • The present study deals with numerical flow analysis to investigate the effect of sweep and lean on the performance characteristics of a partial admission supersonic turbine. The flow analysis was performed for three different angles. The angles of sweep and lean are $5^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$. The results of the flow analysis showed that the efficiency is improved as the sweep angle is increased. However, a sweep angle of $5^{\circ}$ was less effective in comparison with the baseline model. The total pressure loss was reduced as the lean angle is increased, but the total to static efficiency was decreased.

  • The objective of this study is to theoretically analyze the performance of an open wet air-cycle refrigeration system, which nowadays is increasingly generating environmental concern. The temperature and relative humidity of the outside air are selected as the most important parameters. As the temperature and relative humidity of the outside air increase, the pressure ratio of the ACM compressor is determined to be nearly constant, the air temperature at the exit of the system increases, and the amount of condensed water, the cooling capacity, the COP, and the total entropy production rate increase overall. The effects of the effectiveness of the heat exchanger and the efficiency of the turbine on the performance are greater than that of the efficiency of the ACM compressor. Also, the performance of the wet air-cycle refrigeration system with two heat exchangers is enhanced, with a high COP and low total entropy production rate, compared to the system with a single heat exchanger.

  • This study is for the investigation of form using the aluminum-compound metal frame(Aluminum frame reinforced panel : AFR panel) which is improved in the capacity in the wall-concrete structure in steal of using the existing form which has problems such as, excessive exposure of cement, the loss of labor when it is constructed or disjointed, and it's economical efficiency compared with that of EURO Form. AFR panel passes the KS F 8006 test, and as a result of field test, it's displacement is satisfied with Specification. And using AFR panel is more economical than that of EURO Form because saving labor cost which plays a major part in cost saving in formwork is more effective in retrenching total cost than increment of material cost.

  • Biopiles which offer the potential for cost-effective treatment of contaminated soils are above-ground, engineered systems that use oxygen to stimulate the growth and reproduction of aerobic bacteria for degradation of the petroleum constituents adsorbed to soil in excavated soils. This technology involves heaping contaminated soils into piles and stimulating aerobic microbial activity within the soils through the aeration and/or addition of minerals, nutrients, and moisture. Inside the biopile, microbially mediated reactions by blowing or extracting air through the pipes can enhance degradation of the organic contaminants. The influence of a aeration system on the biopile performance was investigated. Air pressure made to compare the efficiency of suction in the pipes showed that there were slightly significant difference between the two piles in the total amount of TPH biodegradation. The normalised degradation rate was, however, considerably higher in the aeration system than in the normal system without aeration, suggesting that the vertical venting method may have improved the efficiency of the biological reactions in the pile.

  • Plate-fin type recuperators for the gas turbine/fuel cell hybrid power generating system were designed using commercial design software, MUSE. Heat transfer efficiency and total pressure drop in the recuperator were calculated to confirm required recuperator performance. Both counter flow and cross flow type plate-fin recuperators were designed. Results show that the counter flow type has higher efficiency and short core length, but the cross flow type is simpler to construct because the cross flow type does not need additional distributors. Two or three headers for the each recuperator core will be designed and tested to evaluate best header design. The designed recuperators and headers which will be designed later will be constructed, tested, and used in gas turbine/fuel cell hybrid power generating system.
