The investment in the technology of using a combined heat source is insufficient, which utilizes the advantages of various heat sources to maximize the potential energy and at the same time increases the performance of the heat pump. In this study, as basic data for the development of a high-efficiency hybrid heat pump system that actively connects and uses various heat sources, simulations were conducted for the heat pumps in two cases where geothermal and hydrothermal heat were applied respectively. In May, COP increased by about 27.3% compared to geothermal heat. In February, the COP percentage decrease of hydrothermal heat compared to geothermal heat is -6.9%. In May, total energy consumption can be reduced by 21.1% when hydrothermal is applied compared to geothermal heat. In February, the total energy consumption increases by 3.4%.
Several models and methods have been developed to verify the improvement of energy performance in retrofit buildings. The verification is important to confirm the effectiveness of new technologies or retrofits. Inverse model toolkit proposed by ASHRAE evaluates the changes of the energy performance of retrofit buildings by using actual energy consumption data. In this study, the inverse model toolkit was used to analyze heating and cooling energy performance of an office building. Analyzed coefficients of correlation of actual energy consumption with estimated energy consumption was above 0.92 and well fitted. It was confirmed that energy consumption of natural gas decreased by 43.4% and also that electricity decreased by 13.8%, after the retrofit of the case building. For the energy usage, cooling energy was increased by 7.4%, heating energy was decreased by 42.3%, hot water and cooking were increased by 3.4%, lighting and electronics were decreased by 19.3%, and the total energy was decreased by 18.9%.
Recently, climate change have increased consumption of building heating and cooling energy. Therefore, various actions to reduce greenhouse gas and energy consumption have been prepared by world developed countries. The energy consumption by buildings approximately reaches 25% of total korea energy consumption. The greatest part in the buildings of the energy consumption is building facade. Especially the outer covering of the building has been made of concrete more than 70%. But a few research projects on concrete comprising more than 70% of outsider of buildings has been tried. This research is structural insulation concrete what improved insulation performance using Micro Form Admixture and Calcined Diatomite Powder and Lightweight Aggregate.
In this study, we analyzed five-year(2011~2015) data for D high school in Seoul area to analyze energy consumption characteristics in high school. The results are summarized as follows. (1) In the result of comparison analysis about 2015 energy consumption by usage, based on primary energy, 18% of energy was consumed in cafeteria, and 82% was consumed in main building. In the case of main building, base and constant load excepting hot water supply in restroom took 40%, heating including freeze protection took 20%, hot water supply in restroom took 14%, and cooling took 8% in order. (2) In the 2015 total energy consumption in D high school based on primary energy, heating energy takes 28%. The range and limit of energy savings coming from the reinforcement of insulation and window performance could be estimated. (3) To introduce new & renewable energy system in high school, electricity-based system is suitable than heat-based system because usage of electric energy is larger than that of heat energy in high school. (4) Five-year energy consumption unit according to heating degree-day showed a linearly increasing trend, and the coefficient of determination(R2) was 0.9763, which means high correlation.
Construction equipment is a major energy consumption source in construction projects. If 10% reduction of the diesel fuel usage is achieved in the construction industry, it may reduce 5% of the total energy usage. Energy saving operation is a major issue in equipment-intensive operations (e.g., earthmoving or paving operations). Identifying optimal equipment fleet is important measure to achieve low-energy consumption in those operations. This study presents a system which finds an optimal equipment fleet by computing the low-energy performance of earthmoving operations. It establishes construction operation model and compares numerous combinations using alternative equipment allocation plans. It implements sensitivity analysis that facilitates searching the lowest energy consumption equipment fleet by enumerating all cases.

The Smart home energy consumption represents much of the total energy consumed in advanced countries. For this reason, the main objectif of this paper is to study the energy consumption profile by day for each home appliances: controllable appliances for example Washing machine, Tumble dryer and Air conditioning and uncontrollable appliances for example TV, PC, Lighting, Refrigerator and Electric heater. In this paper, we start with presentation of a smart home energy management systems. Next, we present the modeling and simulation of controllable appliances and uncontrollable appliances. Finally, concludes this paper with some prospects. The modeling and the simulation of a Smart home appliances is based on MATLAB/Simulink software.
High-caffeine energy drink consumption has been increasing in young adults, frequently causing the most common symptoms such as tremor, insomnia, anxiety, and nervousness and rarely leading to serious adverse effects like seizure, acute mania, and stroke due to caffeine overdose. There have been little current studies regarding analysis of high-caffeine energy drink consumption and its adverse effects in Korea. This study was to examine high-caffeine consumption patterns, associated factors, and adverse effects based on responses from 231 college students in a University through survey. About 88.3% (n=204) of total respondents reported that they had energy drinks. College students mostly consumed energy drinks to keep awake (46%) when studying and to recover fatigue (27%). Approximately 44% respondents mainly reported palpitation (73.9%) and insomnia (72.8%) regarding adverse effect questionnaire. Current reports on the risk of recreational use, co-ingestion of alcohol and energy drink as well as energy drink consumption among children and adolescents are increasing, requiring further long-term research and awareness of these issues.
In this paper, we study the ON/OFF control policy of base stations in two-tier heterogeneous cellular networks to minimize the total power consumption of the system. Using heterogeneous cellular networks is a potential approach of providing higher throughput and coverage compared to conventional networks with only macrocell deployment, but in fact heterogeneous cellular networks often operates regardless of total power consumption, which is a very important issue of modern cellular networks. We propose a policy that controls the activation/deactivation of base stations in heterogeneous cellular networks to minimize total power consumption. Under this policy, the total power consumed can be significantly reduced when the traffic is low while the QoS requirement is satisfied.
