40,50대 남녀별 체중, BMI와 관상동맥질환 위험인자 간의 상관 정도 비교 (Correlations between Weight, Body Mass Index(BMI) and Risk Factors of Coronary Artery Disease in Men and Women in their Forties and Fifties)

  • This study was done to examine the correlations between weight, BMI and risk factors of coronary heart disease in men and women in their forties and fifties. The subjects were 412 adults. who had regular health examinations between January and December of 1996 at S-Hospital in Seoul. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson correlation coefficient. The results are as follows : 1. The men between 50 and 59 years of age had higher levels for BMI, weight, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol. LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, fasting blood sugar, plasminogen activator-1, and hemoglobin A,C than the group of women in their forties. Yet. HDL-cholesterol was lower than in the former group. 2. In the group of men in their forties, weight was significantly correlated to diastolic blood pressure(r=.22), LDL-cholesterol(r=.20), plasminogen activator-inhibitor-1(r=.35) HDL-cholesterol(r=-.19). Their BMI was significantly correlted to systolic blood pressure(r=.27), diastolic blood pressure (r=.33), total cholesterol(r=.23), LDL-cholesterol (r=.26), plasminogen activator-1(r=.36) and HDL-cholesterol(r=-.25). 3. As for the group of women in their forties weight was significantly correlated to systolic blood pressure(r=.20), diastolic blood pressure(r=.22), triglyceride(r=.32) , plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (r=.30) and HDL-cholesterol(r= -.37). Their BMI was significantly correlated to diastolic blood pressure (r=.25) triglyceride(r=.47), plasminogen activator-1 (r=.35), fibrinogen(r=.27) and HDL-cholesterol(r=-.47). 4. In the group of men in their fifties. weight was significantly correlated to total cholesterol (r=32), LDL-cholesterol(r=.29). plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(r=.26). Their BMI was significantly correlated to systolic blood pressure(r=.24), diastolic blood pressure (r=.22), total cholesterol (r=.34), LDL-cholesterol (r=.32), and plasminogen activator-1(r=.25). 5. In the group of women in their fifties, weight was significantly correlated to diastolic blood pressure(r=.33), total cholesterol(r=.21), LDL-cholesterol(r=.20), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (r=.43) and HDL-cholesterol(r=-.21). Their BMI was significantly correlated to systolic blood pressure(r=.25), diastolic blood pressure(r=.40), total cholesterol(r=.24), LDL-cholesterol(r=.24), triglyceride(r=22), and HDL-cholesterol (r=-.30). The above findings indicate that the BMI was more predictive than weight as a risk factor for coronary artery disease for men and women in their forties and fifties.

LDL Cholesterol 또는 Total Cholesterol의 적용에 따른 Framingham Risk Score와 10년 내 심혈관질환 발생 위험도 평가 (The Assessment of Framingham Risk Score and 10 Year CHD Risk according to Application of LDL Cholesterol or Total Cholesterol)

  • 증가하고 있는 심혈관질환을 예방하기 위한 연구와 함께 심혈관질환 위험도를 예측할 수 있는 평가도구에 대한 연구도 꾸준히 진행되고 있다. 가장 널리 알려져 있는 Framingham risk score (FRS)는 여러 선행 연구에서 그 타당성이 검증되었다. 본 연구에서는 연구 대상자들의 LDL 콜레스테롤과 총 콜레스테롤의 적용에 따른 FRS의 점수 차이를 살펴보고, 두 변수의 선택 적용에 따른 10년 내 심혈관질환 발생 위험도의 판정에 대한 일치도를 평가해 보고자 하였다. 2011 국민건강영양조사 데이터 중 심혈관질환 진단을 받은 자를 제외한 1,530명(남성 755명, 여성 775명)의 자료를 이용하였다. LDL 콜레스테롤 또는 총 콜레스테롤 중에 어떤 항목을 적용하느냐에 따라 FRS와 심혈관질환의 10년 예측위험도는 차이가 있었다. 남녀 모두 FRS는 LDL 콜레스테롤 적용 점수 보다 총콜레스테롤 적용 점수가 더 높았다. 위험도 10% 미만의 저위험군, 10~19%의 중등도 위험군, 20% 이상의 고위험군 분류에서 남성 106명, 여성 26명의 판정이 일치하지 않았다. 코헨의 카파 계수는 남성의 경우 0.718, 여성의 경우 0.884로 나타나 여성의 경우 더 높은 일치성을 보였다. 심혈관질환의 10년 예측위험도와의 관련성에서도 LDL 콜레스테롤을 포함한 회귀식 보다 총 콜레스테롤을 포함한 회귀식에서 남녀 모두 설명력이 더 높아 총 콜레스테롤을 반영한 FRS 산출과 10년 예측 위험도의 평가가 더 상관성이 더 높고, 더불어 남성 보다는 여성에서 더 일치하는 결과가 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

Effects of the Zizyphus jujuba Seed Extract on the Lipid Components in Hyperlipidemic Rats

  • The purpose of this study was designed to observe the effects of Zizyphus jujuba seed extract on the concentrations of the lipids and blood glucose in the S.D. rats fed the experimental diets for 4 weeks. Concentrations of total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL, LDL-cholesterol, free-cholesterol, cholesteryl ester, triglyceride (TG), phospholipid (PL) and blood glucose in serum were significantly higher in the cholesterol administration groups (group 2 (cholesterol+water), group 3 (cholesterol+Zizyphus jujuba seed extract)) than those in the control group (group 1, basal diet+water). But the concentrations of total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL, LDL-cholesterol, free-cholesterol, cholesteryl ester, TG, PL and blood glucose in serum ware remarkably lower in the group 3 than those in the group 2. In the ratio of HIDL-cholesterol concentration to total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol concentration, Zizyphus jujuba seed extract administration group was higher percentage than in the group 2. The activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine amino-transferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in serum were rather lower in the Zizyphus jujuba seed extract administration group (group 3) than in the cholesterol diet group (group 2). From the above research, Zizyphus jujuba seeds were effective on the improvement of the blood glucose, lipid compositions in serum of dietary hyperlipidemic rats. And particularly, Zizyphus jujuba seeds were more effective as a therapeutic regimen for the control of metabolic derangements in adult disease.

한국여승(韓國女僧)의 영양섭취(營養攝取)와 혈청(血淸) Lipoprotein, Cholesterol 및 단백량(蛋白量)의 관계(關係) (Daily Nutritional Intake and Serum Levels of Lipoprotein, Cholesterol and Protein -A Study of Buddhist Nuns-)

  • 장기적(長期的)인 채식섭취(菜食攝取)가 혈청(血淸)의 lipoprotein, cholesterol 및 단백량(蛋白量)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 알아보기 위하여 결은 여승(女僧) 45명(名)($20{\sim}35$세)과 대조군(對照群)으로 여대생(女大生) 29명(名)($20{\sim}22$세)을 연구대상(硏究對象)으로 하였다. 하루 열량섭취(熱量攝取)는 여승(女憎)들이 1,945 kcal 였고 여대생(女大生)은 1,815 kcal 였다. 열량구성비율(熱量構成比率)은 여승(女僧)들이 탄수화물(炭水化物) : 단백질(蛋白質) : 지방(地方)=84 : 11 : 5였고 학생(學生)은 70 : 15 : 15였으며 이는 여승(女僧)들의 탄수화물(炭水化物) 편중(偏重) 및 지방섭취부족(脂肪攝取不足)을 보여준다. 신체계측결과(身體計測結果) 여승(女僧)들은 여대생(女大生)보다 신장(身長)을 제외(除朴)하고, 체중(體重), 지방층(脂肪層)두께, 체표면적(體表面積) 및 비만도계수(肥滿度係數)가 모두 높았다. 수축기(收縮期) 및 이완기혈압(弛緩期血壓)은 여승(女憎)과 여대생(女大生)이 거의 같았다. 혈청(血淸)의 총지방(總脂肪), cholesterol 및 단백량(蛋白量)은 여승(女憎)과 여대생간(女大生間)에 유의(有意)한 차이(差異)가 없었다. 그러나 전기영동(電氣泳動)으로 분획(分劃)하여 혈청(血淸)의 high density lipoprotein(HDL), very low density lipoprotein(VLDL) 및 low density lipoprotein(LDL)량(量)을 비교(比較)해 본 결과(結果), 여승(女憎)들의 HDL은 여대생(女大生)보다 낮았으나 LDL은 유의(有意)하게 높았다. Cholesterol분획결과(分劃結果)도 역시 여승(女憎)들의 HDL-cholesterol값은 여대생(女大生)보다 유의(有意) 하게 낮은 반면(反面) LDL-cholesterol은 유의(有意)하게 높았다. Lipoprotein과 cholesterol간(間)의 상관계수(相關係數)(r)를 계산(計算)한 결과(結果) LDL과 LDL-cholesterol(r=0.40), VLDL과 VLDL-cholesterol(r=0.85), HDL과 HDL-cholesterol(r=0.45), 혈청총지방량(血淸總脂防量)과 cholesterol(r=0.66) 및 혈청(血淸) 총(總) cholesterol과 LDL-cholesterol(r=0.79) 간(間)에는 유의(有意)한 상관관계(相關關係)를 보여주었다. 그러나 혈청(血淸) cholesterol과 음식섭취(飮食攝取) 및 신체계측결과간(身體計測結果間)에는 유의(有意)한 상관관계(相關關係)가 나타나지 않았다. 혈청단백량(血淸蛋白量)은 여승(女憎)과 여대생간(女大生間)에 차이(差異)가 없었다. 이상(以上)의 결과(結果)는 여승(女憎)들의 장기적(長期的)인 채식섭취(菜食攝取)로 인(因)해 인체(人體)의 lipoprotein 및 cholesterol 대사(代謝)에 영향(影響)이 있음을 시사(示唆)해 주고 있다.

방풍통성산가미방(防風通聖散加味方)이 비만유도(肥滿誘導) 백풍(白嵐)와 지방세포(脂肪細胞) 분화(分化)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Anti-obestic Effects of Bangpoongtongsungcankamibang(BTSK) in 3%3-L1 preadipocyte cells and the Lipid Metabolism of Obesity induced Rats)

  • Objective : This experimental study was designed to determine the anti-obestic effects of Bangpoongtongsungcankamibang(BTSK). Method : In vitro, BTSK extracts of various concentration (50,100, 200 $200{\mu}g/ml$)were added examination. The protein and mRNA expression of $C/EBP{\alpha}$ and $PPAR{\gamma}$ receptor was measured by western blot assay and RT-PCR. In vivo, BTSK extracts of various concentration (100, $200{\mu}g/ml$) were orally administered to induced hyperlipidemic rats by poloxamer-407 for consecutive four weeks and serum triglyceride, total cholesterol were measured. This method applied to induced hyperlipidemic rats by triton WR-1339, too. Obesity induced rats by the high fat-diet for six weeks were orally administered BTSK extracts of various concentration (100, $200{\mu}g/ml$) and serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, hydroxy radical, superoxide dismuatse activity were measured. Results : I. In vitro 1. The 3T3-L1 cells' differentiation was significantly decreased by BTSK. 2. expression of $C/EBP{\alpha}$ and $PPAR{\gamma}$ was was significantly decreased by BTSK. II. In vitro 1. BTSK significantly reduced serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, contents in poloxamer-407 treated rat. 2. BTSK significantly reduced serum triglyceride, contents in Triton WR-1339 treated rat. But Total cholesterol did not show a significant change. 3. BTSK significantly reduced body weight gain of rat and adipose tissue mass of rats and serum triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, contents and significantly increased HDL-cholesterol, HTR(HDL-cholesterol/Total-cholesterol) in rats with obesity induced by the high fat-diet. 4. BTSK reduced blood lipid peroxide, hydroxy radical and increased superoxied dismuatse(SOD) activity.

키토산 올리고당이 당뇨성 흰쥐의 혈당과 혈중 지질성분 및 효소활성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Chitosan Oligosaccharide Supplementation on Blood Glucose, Lipid Components and Enzyme Activities in Hyperglycemic Rats)

  • The principal objective of this study was to assess the effects of chitosan oligosaccharide supplementation on the improvement of blood glucose, lipid components and enzyme activities in the serum of streptozotocin(STZ, 55 mg/kg B.W., I.P. injection)-induced hyperglycemic rats fed on experimental diets for 5 weeks. The concentrations of blood glucose, total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL, LDL-cholesterol, free cholesterol, cholesteryl ester ratio, triglycerides(TG) and phospholipids(PL) in serum were remarkably higher in the hyperglycemic group(group BSW) and STZ(I.P.)+chitosan oligosaccharide supplementation group(group ECW) than those in the control group(group BW, basal diet+water). However the concentrations of blood glucose, total cholesterol, atherosclerotic index, LDL, LDL-cholesterol, tree cholesterol, cholesteryl ester ratio, TG and PL in serum were lower in the ECW group than in the BSW group, whereas the ratio of HDL-cholesterol concentration to total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol concentration in the ECW group were higher than in the BSW group. The activities of alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and aminotransferase(AST, ALT) in serum were lower in the ECW group than in the hyperglycemic BSW group. The results shown above suggested that chitosan oligosaccharide supplementation effectively improves blood glucose, lipid composition and enzyme activities in the sera of STZ-induced hyperglycemic rats.

성장기 암컷 흰쥐에서 이소플라본 첨가 식이가 지질 농도와 간 LDL 수용체의 유전자 발현정도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Isotlavones Supplemented Diet on Lipid Concentrations and Hepatic LDL Receptor mRNA Level in Growing Female Rats)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of isoflavones on lipid concentrations and hepatic LDL receptor mRNA level in growing female rats. Twenty four rats (body weight $75\pm5g$) were randomly assigned to one of two groups, consuming control diet or isoflavones supplemented diet (57mg isoflavones/100g diet). All rats has been fed on experimental diet and deionized water ad libitum for 9 weeks. The concentration of triglyceride and total cholesterol were measured in serum and liver. Serum HDL cholesterol was measured. Hepatic LDL receptor mRNA level was tested by RT-PCR. Supplementation of isoflavones did not affect weight gain, mean food intake and food efficiency ratio. Serum total cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol of isoflavones supplemented rats were significantly lower than those of control rats (p<0.05). But hepatic cholseterol was not influenced by supplementation of isoflavones. Hepatic LDL receptor mRNA level not significantly different between control group and isoflavones supplemented group. Therefore, isoflavones may be beneficial on serum cholesterol and non-HDL cholesterol lowering in growing female rats.

Validity for Use of Non-HDL Cholesterol Rather than LDL Cholesterol

  • NonHDL cholesterol values have been suggested as a risk marker for cardiovascular disease. NonHDL cholesterol values were calculated, using a very simple measurement [nonHDL cholesterol=serum total cholesterol-HDL cholesterol]. This formula is very useful as a screening tool for identifying dyslipoproteinemias, risk assessment, and assessing the results of hypolipidemic therapy. The data from the 2009 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used. Analysis was done for 1,992 subjects with lipid panels (Cholesterol, HDL, LDLdirect and Triglycerides) results. We studied the relationship between nonHDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. As a result, nonHDL cholesterol values were plotted against the LDL direct and calculated values. The linear regression equation for nonHDL cholesterol and direct LDL cholesterol was $nonHDLchol=23.60+1.03{\times}LDLdirect$ (p<0.0001, $r^2=0.80$) in all subjects. The subjects were classified into triglyceride values. When triglycerides are below 400 mg/dL, the linear fit to LDL direct is found to be $[nonHDLchol=17.34+1.07{\times}LDLdirect]$ (p<0.0001, $r^2=0.88$) and to the Friedewald LDL calculation is $[nonHDLchol=23.10+1.02{\times}LDLcalc]$ (p<0.0001, $r^2=0.82$). For triglycerides above 400 mg/dL, the linear fit equation is $[nonHDLchol=87.57+0.92{\times}LDLdirect]$ (p<0.0001, $r^2=0.50$) and to the LDL calculated, it is $[nonHDLchol=142.70+0.50{\times}LDLcalc]$ (p<0.0001, $r^2=0.32$). This study provides examples of the utility of nonHDL cholesterol concentrations in clinical medicine.

Effects of Wet Cupping (Al-Hijamah) on Cholesterol in a Sudanese Population

  • Background: Wet cupping (WC) is an efficient and cost-effective technique for removing metabolic waste from the bloodstream via the skin. The study aimed to examine the effect of WC on cholesterol levels including total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in a Sudanese population. Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, 30 participants undergoing regular WC therapy were enrolled. Blood samples collected twice: pre-WC therapy (case group) and 10-14 days afterward (controls). Results: Of the participants, 56.67% were male and 43.33% were female, aged 24-69. Pre-WC TC and LDL-C levels were significantly higher than the post-WC control group (p = 0.001). Conversely, HDL-C levels decreased significantly in the pre-WC cases compared to controls (p = 0.001). No significant sex-based difference in mean cholesterol levels (p > 0.05). Conclusions: After WC, males and females experienced significant reductions in TC and LDL-C, and significant increase in HDL-C.

유산소성 운동이 콜레스테롤식이 흰쥐의 혈청지질에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Serum Lipid in Cholesterol-Dietary Rats)

  • 본 연구는 생후 4주령의 Sprague Dawley 흰쥐 47마리를 대상으로 2% 콜레스테롤 식이와 정상식이 그리고 여러가지 강도의 유산소운동(트래드밀 런닝)과 비운동을 실시하여 혈청지질과 adipose tissue를 분석해서 다음과 같은 경과를 얻었다. 1. 콜레스테롤식이에 의해 형중T-C치가 유의하게 증가되었으나 유산소성운동에 의해 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 2. 콜레스테롤식이에 의해 혈중 HDL-C와 LDL이 약간 증가야였으나, 유산소성운동에 의해 모두 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. LDL/HDL-C는 간한 운동을 한 CRA군에서만 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 3. 콜레스테롤식이에 의해 혈액중의 phospholipid 및 triglyceride는 감소하는 경향을 나태내었으나, 유산소성운동에 의해 약간 증가하는 경향을 나태내었다. 4. 정상식이군에서 유산소성운동에 의해 adipose tissue가 유의하게 감소되었으며, 콜레스테롤 식이군에서도 유산소성운동에 의해 adipdse tissue가 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 이상과 같은 연구결과를 통하여 유산소성운동이 콜레스테롤식이에 의해 증가도니 혈중 총콜레스테롤을 저하시키며, 동백경과 위험인자인 LDL은 낮추어 동맥경화성 질병을 예방할 것으로 사료된다.
