Thermal Deformation Analysis of an Orbital Grinding System Grinding Process (오비탈 연삭시스템의 연삭가공 열변형 오차 해석)

  • An orbital grinding system uses a special motion to machine crankshafts in ships. When a crankshaft is operated, eccentric pins rotate and a grinding wheel moves in order to grind the pins. Thermal error caused by heat generated in the grinding process decreases the quality of the final product. In this study, the thermal error of an orbital grinding system caused by heat generation was investigated in order to predict the extent of thermal error that can occur during the grinding process. Since the machine position changes during orbital grinding, the pin part is divided into 30 degree intervals and heat is generated. Total thermal error was measured by summing the thermal errors associated with the pin and the grinding wheel. Total thermal error was found to reach a maximum at 60 degrees and a minimum at 210 degrees because of the shape of the crankshaft.

  • In this study, the correlation analysis between total system error and environmental factor variables was performed to confirm the effect on the performance of the integrated navigation system by various environmental factors. To collect flight data of hybrid vertical take-off and landing UAVs, scenarios including various turning sections and straight sections such as left turn, right turn, turning rate, and path change angle were selected, and environmental data of wind direction, wind speed, temperature, air pressure, and humidity were collected in real time through weather station. As a result of the correlation analysis between the collected flight data and environmental data, it was concluded that the performance of the integrated navigation system by environmental factors within the collected data was not significant affected and was robust.

  • Heliostat, as a concentrator to reflect the incident solar energy to the receiver, is the most important system in the tower-type solar thermal power plant since it determines the efficiency and ultimately the overall performance of solar thermal power plant. Thus, a good sun tracking ability as well as a good optical property of it are required. Heliostat sun tracking system uses usually an open loop control system. Thus the sun tracking error caused by heliostat's geometrical error, optical error and computational error cannot be compensated. Recently use of sun tracking error model to compensate the sun tracking error has been proposed, where the error model is obtained from the measured ones. This work is a development of heliostat sun tracking error measurement and compensation method using BCS (Beam Characterization System). We first developed an image processing system to measure the sun tracking error optically. Then the measured error is modeled in linear polynomial form and neural network form trained by the extended Kalman filter respectively. Finally error models are used to compensate the sun tracking error. We also developed the necessary image processing algorithms so that the heliostat optical properties such as maximum heat flux intensity, heat flux distribution and total reflected heat energy could be analyzed. Experimentally obtained data shows that the heliostat sun tracking accuracy could be dramatically improved using either linear polynomial type error model or neural network type error model. Neural network type error model is somewhat better in improving the sun tracking performance. Nevertheless, since the difference between two error models in compensation of sun tracking error is small, a linear error model is preferred in actual implementation due to its simplicity.

An Improved Online Algorithm to Minimize Total Error of the Imprecise Tasks with 0/1 Constraint (0/1 제약조건을 갖는 부정확한 태스크들의 총오류를 최소화시키기 위한 개선된 온라인 알고리즘)

  • The imprecise real-time system provides flexibility in scheduling time-critical tasks. Most scheduling problems of satisfying both 0/1 constraint and timing constraints, while the total error is minimized, are NP-complete when the optional tasks have arbitrary processing times. Liu suggested a reasonable strategy of scheduling tasks with the 0/1 constraint on uniprocessors for minimizing the total error. Song et at suggested a reasonable strategy of scheduling tasks with the 0/1 constraint on multiprocessors for minimizing the total error. But, these algorithms are all off-line algorithms. In the online scheduling, the NORA algorithm can find a schedule with the minimum total error for the imprecise online task system. In NORA algorithm, EDF strategy is adopted in the optional scheduling. On the other hand, for the task system with 0/1 constraint, EDF_Scheduling may not be optimal in the sense that the total error is minimized. Furthermore, when the optional tasks are scheduled in the ascending order of their required processing times, NORA algorithm which EDF strategy is adopted may not produce minimum total error. Therefore, in this paper, an online algorithm is proposed to minimize total error for the imprecise task system with 0/1 constraint. Then, to compare the performance between the proposed algorithm and NORA algorithm, a series of experiments are performed. As a conseqence of the performance comparison between two algorithms, it has been concluded that the proposed algorithm can produce similar total error to NORA algorithm when the optional tasks are scheduled in the random order of their required processing times but, the proposed algorithm can produce less total error than NORA algorithm especially when the optional tasks are scheduled in the ascending order of their required processing times.

  • Recently indoor positioning technologies have been studied using the acoustic signal from a smart phone. Also multi-hop indoor positioning system in which the equipments measure their relative position successively has been proposed. As the total positioning error is prone to increase due to the successively accumulated positioning error for the multi-hop system, the error analysis is required for the system design. In this paper, the absolute positioning error for the multi-hop indoor positioning equipments successively installed is analyzed, and it is verified by computer simulation. According to the results, the accumulated positioning error is linearly increased as the number of the multi-hop increases.

  • The commercial parallel plate electrodes system with guard-ring electrode have been widely used for measurement of dielectric constants of solid materials. And the specification of the electrodes system is about 1 % of measurement uncertainty. This measurement uncertainty is only estimated the error come from mechanical measurements such as the area of the electrodes and the gap between the electrodes except the error come from the air gap between the electrodes and dielectric specimen. Because it is impossible to measure the air gap. This study analyze the total measurement uncertainties of the commercial dielectric constant test cell using 3 kinds of Standard Reference Materials. As a results, the total measurement uncertainty is much bigger than 1 % and the most of the uncertainty can be reduced by compensation of the error values evaluated in this study.

  • Transmission error for a stepping motor-timing belt drive system is investigated experimentally and analytically. From FFT analysis of the experimental results, it is found that the transmission error consists of three periodic errors : (1) error by the stepping motor per one resolution angle theta.$_{m}$, (2) error by the pulley eccentricity per one revolution theta.$_{e}$, and (3) error by the meshing effect between the belt and the pulley teeth per one pitch revoltion theta.$_{p}$. In order to investigate the effects of some design parameters on the transmission error, the dynamic models of the stepping motor-timing belt drive system are derived by Bondgraph. According to the simulation results, as the belt total tension increases, theta.$_{m}$ and theta.$_{e}$ decrease due to the nonlinearity of the belt. In adition, the numerical and experimental results show that theta.$_{m}$ and theta.$_{e}$ of the loaded case are larger than those of the unloaded case. The analytical results are in good accordance with the experimental results.sults.s.sults.

But, maximum likelihood estimation must be used to exponential model of binomial-type and estimating of parameters by using the searched data. A Long-term Accuracy Analysis of the GPS Klobuchar Ionosphere Model (GPS Klobuchar 전리층 모델의 장기간 정확도 분석)

  • Global Positioning System (GPS) is currently widely used for aviation applications. Single-frequency GPS receivers are highly affected by the ionospheric delay error, and the ionospheric delay should be corrected for accurate positioning. Single-frequency GPS receivers use the Klobuchar model, whose model parameters are transmitted from GPS satellites. In this paper, the long-term accuracy of the Klobuchar model from 2002 to 2014 is analyzed. The IGS global ionosphere map is considered as true ionospheric delay, and hourly, seasonal, and geographical error variations are analyzed. Histogram of the ionospheric delay error is also analyzed. The influence of solar and geomagnetic activity on the Klobuchar model error is analyzed, and the Klobuchar model error is highly correlated with solar activity. The results show that the Klobuchar model estimates 8 total electron content unit (TECU) over the true ionosphere delay in average. The Klobuchar model error is greater than 12 TECU within $20^{\circ}$ latitude, and the error is less than 6 TECU at high latitude.
