There are several types of switching table for selection voltage vector in direct torque control of induction motor. In general, two-quadrant and four-quadrant operation switching table are used mostly. Two-quadrant operation has an advantage that reduced the torque ripples in comparison with four-quadrant operation, but it has the defect that is not constant average torque. Because the torque increasing slope size by non-zero voltage vector is different from the torque decreasing slope size by zero voltage vector as speed region. The main objective of this study is to maintain constant average torque using two-quadrant operation switching table. In proposed method, the torque increasing slope or decreasing slope are calculated before selected voltage vector is applied. Then, it is applied to zero voltage vector or non-zero voltage vector until the torque increasing slope and decreasing slope are equal. In total magnitude. Therefore it becomes to maintain average torque at whole operation speed. The validity of the proposed method is proven by simulated and experimental results.
The conventional hysterysis band DTC(Direct Torque Control) strategy have relatively high torque ripple at low speed and variable switching frequency according to motor speed even though it provides a fast torque response with very simple scheme consisted with only two hysteresis band comparators and a switching table for torque and flux control. In this paper, author proposed a new DTC scheme based on the torque slope and reference voltage control. The new scheme can maintain the minimized torque ripple and constant switching frequency. Experimental tests carried out with an 1.5kW induction motor drive system show improved dynamic characteristics and prove the feasibility of proposed strategy.
Fatigue is the decline in force produced as a result of prolonged muscle activity. Localized muscle fatigue can be identified by a shift toward low in the frequency components of the EMG signal, typically represented by a fall in the median frequency. Previous studies show that a shortened muscle develops a higher fatigue than elongated muscles. The purpose of this study was to investigate the time-related change of median frequency and torque during maximal isometric back extension exercises at different exercise angles ($0^{\circ}$, $12^{\circ}$, $36^{\circ}$, $72^{\circ}$). Twenty healthy subjects (mean age = $24.35{\pm}2.70$) were evaluated in this study. Median frequency was extracted from the EMG signals by fast Fourier transform (FFT). Initial median frequency and the slope of median frequency change over time were computed from linear regression analysis. Pearson's product moment correlation was used to quantify the relationship between slope of median frequency and torque. The results were as follows: 1) Significant differences in y-intercepts of torque regression equation with respect to exercise angle were shown. However, there were no differences in the slopes of the median frequency and torque, and y intercept of the median frequency among exercise angles. 2) There was no significant correlation between slope of median frequency and torque. 3) But there was moderate correlation between median frequency and torque at each exercise angle. In conclusion, the exercise angle during maximal isometric back extension exercise is not a direct effect on slope of median frequency and torque. But results showed that median frequency and torque shift were highly correlated in all subjects.
This paper studied cogging torque reduction effect for sloping notch applied two notches on stator teeth. We have confirmed accuracy of FEM(Finite Element Method) through comparison previous model using asymmetric notch for experiment and 3D FEM results, and then cogging torque comparison of previous model and sloping notch model. Also the sloping notch model has been modified to step-sloping notch model to consider manufactur. The modification method of sloping notch changed the degree of slope of notch (a)(Notch(a) sloping Deg) and the degree of Slope of notch (b)(Notch(b) Sloping Deg). When Cogging torque is case of minimum, Notch (a) Sloping Deg is $-12[^{\circ}]$ and Notch(b) Sloping Deg $12[^{\circ}]$. In this case, cogging torque was about 23.9[mNm]. Cogging torque of previous model is about 40.8[mNm], so sloping notch model is less than previous model by 41.42[%]. Also, if sloping notch model is changed to step-sloping notch model, cogging torque of step-sloping notch model is about 24.82[mNm], Therefore the difference between the two cogging torque is about 3.85[%], so step-sloping notch model can be applied when considering manufacture.
Selection of gear reduction ratio is essential for machine design to ensure suitable power and speed during agricultural operations. The goal of the study was to evaluate the gear reduction ratio for a 1.6 kW four-wheel-drive (4WD) multi-purpose agricultural electric vehicle platform using workload data under different off-road conditions. A data acquisition system was fabricated to collect workload (torque) of the vehicle acting on the gear shaft. Field tests were performed under three driving surfaces (asphalt, concrete, and grassland), payload operations (981, 2,942, and 4,903 N), and slope conditions (0 - 4°, 4 - 8°, and 8 - 12°), respectively. Commercial speed reduction gear phases were attached to the input shaft of the vehicle powertrain. The maximum required torque was recorded as 37.5 Nm at a 4,903 N load with 8 - 12° slope levels, and the minimum torque was 12.32 Nm at 0 - 4° slope levels with a 981 Nm load for a 4 km/h speed on asphalt, concrete, and grassland roads. Based on the operating load condition and motor torque and rotational speed (TN) curve, the minimum and maximum gear reduction ratios were chosen as 1 : 50 and 1 : 64, respectively. The selected motor satisfied power requirements by meeting all working torque criteria with the gear reduction ratios. The chosen motor with a gear reduction ratio of 1 : 50 was suitable to fit with the motor T-N curve, and produced the maximum speeds and loads needed for driving and off-road activities. The findings of the study would assist in choosing a suitable gear reduction ratio for electric vehicle multi-purpose field operations.
The conventional DTC strategy provides a fast torque response even though it has very simple scheme consisted with only two hysteresis band comparators and a switching table for torque and flux control. Drawbacks of the conventional DTC are relatively high torque ripple at low speed and variation of the switching frequency according to motor speed. In this paper, the new direct torque control(DTC) schemes are proposed. Those schemes are based on the torque slope and enable to reduce the torque ripple and maintain the switching frequency constantly.

The single-phase switched reluctance motor(SRM) generates the positive torque in the restricted section. So, it can not started by itself and the torque ripple is heavier than poly-phase. For self-starting and fixing rotating direction, the rotor should be placed at the rising inductance slope when stationary. The parking permanent magnet locates the rotor in the fixed position, which can be started by it-self. It is very simple and cost effective but has some drawbacks. It affects the rotor during the operation, so the characteristics of motor, such as a torque, speed, and ripple are changed to go bad. This paper presents the detent torque of parking magnet starting device through the finite element analysis and experiments. The finite element analysis is performed at incremental rotor positions over one detent torque cycle for any one pole. The prototype, fabricated in the previous research, is used for the experiments. The inductance, instant torque, and detent torque are calculated using the terminal voltage and phase current. Finally, the finite element analysis result and the experiment result are compared for analysis and validity.
This study describes the precision control of the torque standard machine using a self-tuning fuzzy controller. The torque standard machine should generate the accurate torque for calibrating a torque sensor. In order to reduce the relative expanded uncertainty of the torque standard machine, when a weight is hanged to the end of the torque arm for generating the torque, the sloped torque arm should be accurately controlled to the horizontal level. If the slope of the torque arm is larger from the inaccurate control, the uncertainty of the torque standard machine due to control will be larger. This applies the inaccurate torque to a torque sensor to calibrate, and the measuring error of the torque sensor generate from it. Therefore the torque arm of the torque standard machine is accurately controlled. In this paper, the self-tuning fuzzy controller was designed using a fuzzy theory, and the torque arm of the torque standard machine was accurately controlled. The control gain of the fuzzy controller, that is the membership function size of the error, the membership function size of the error change and the membership function size of the controller were determined from the self-tuning. The control results of the torque standard machine were the overshoot within 0.0076mm, the rise time within 16.70sec and the steady state error within 0.0076mm.
This paper deals with the recognition algorithm of walking will based on torque estimation. Recently, concern about walking assistant aids is increasing according to the increase in population of elder and handicapped person. However, most of walking aids don't have any actuators for its movement. So, general walking aids have weakness for its movement to upward/download direction of slope. To overcome the weakness of the general walking aids, many researches for active type walking aids are being progressed. Unfortunately it is difficult to control aids during its movement, because it is not easy to recognize user's walking will. Many kinds of methods are proposed to recognize of user's walking will. In this paper, we propose walking will recognition algorithm by using torque estimation from wheels. First, we measure wheel velocity and voltage at the walking aids. From these data, external forces are extracted. And then walking will that is included by walking velocity and direction is estimated. Here, all the processes are verified by simulation and experiment in the real world.
