  • For the efficient current drive, the structure of ICRF wave propagation and absorption in a tokamak plasma should be first investigated. In this paper, two dimensional study on FWCD as well as ICRF minority ion heating for the KSTAR [Korea Superconducting Tok Amak Research] [1] plasma was performed using the full wave code of TORIC [2]. The ICRF wave propagation and absorption structures, the competitive power absorption between electrons and ions and the coupling of antenna/plasma are investigated.

  • This paper presents a comparison of results obtained by a newly developed numerical model for predicting the behaviour of structures under fire with experimental study carried out on heated and simply supported steel beam elements. A newly developed numerical model consists of three submodels: 3D beam model designed for calculating the inner forces in the structure, 2D model designed for calculation of stress and strain distribution over the cross section, including the section stiffness, and 3D transient nonlinear heat transfer model that is capable of calculating the temperature distribution along the structure, and the distribution over the cross section as well. Predictions of the calculated temperatures and vertical deflections obtained by the numerical model are compared with the results of the inhouse experiment in which steel beam element under load was heated for 90 minutes.

  • We dene new link invariants which are called the quasitoric braid index and the cyclic length of a link and show that the quasitoric braid index of link with k components is the product of k and the cycle length of link. Also, we give bounds of Gordian distance between the (p,q)-torus knot and the closure of a braid of two specific quasitoric braids which are called an alternating quasitoric braid and a blockwise alternating quasitoric braid. We give a method of modication which makes a quasitoric presentation from its braid presentation for a knot with braid index 3. By using a quasitoric presentation of $10_{139}$ and $10_{124}$, we can prove that $u(10_{139})=4$ and $d^{\times}(10_{124},K(3,13))=8$.

  • Paper discusess a dynamic engineering problem of a mass attached to a pendulum sliding along a cable. In this problem the pendulum mass and the cable are coupled together in a model described by a system of differential algebraic equations (DAE). In the paper we have presented formulation of the system of differential equations that models the problem and determination of the initial conditions. The developed model is general in a sense of free choice of support location, elastic cable properties, pendulum length and inclusion of braking forces. Examples illustrate and validate the model.

  • Purpose: To understand the pattern of prescribing contact lenses in Korea from 2010 to 2013. Methods: Four hundred survey questionnaires were randomly posted to Korean Optometric clinics for 4 years. The questionnaire was the same form as a form used for International Contact Lens Prescribing Trend. It was also designed to collect information about the contact lenses prescribed to the first 10 patients after its receipt. Results: 1937 fits were used for the analysis among the four hundred survey questionnaires. The average patient age was $26.2{\pm}7.0$ in 2010, $26.1{\pm}7.6$ in 2011, $24.7{\pm}6.6$ in 2012 and $24.8{\pm}7.2$ in 2013. The patients were mainly women (75%). Of all the soft contact lenses, silicon hydrogel lenses were 18% of fits (17% in 2010, 10% in 2011, 20% in 2012, 24% in 2013). By degine, the percentage of toric design lenses accounted for 17% of soft lenses fits and had increased during 4 years (10% in 2010, 18% in 2011, 16% in 2012, 22% in 2013), and cosmetic contact lens made up for 29% (15% in 2010, 20% in 2011, 40% in 2012, 41% in 2013). Conclusions: The contact lenses wearers were mostly women and the average patient age becomes slightly younger. In relation to the increase in the mumber of younger female contact lens wearers, the percentage of cosmetic lenses prescription was much higher (29%) than the global average (7%), and it has gradually increased for last 4 years. This trend could be related to the growth of beauty market in Korea. By emphasizing on toric lens marketing in manufactures, the prescription rate has been gradually increased.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate changes in the thickness of cornea, curvature of cornea, and aberration depending on the water contents, materials, and refractive power of contact lens. Methods: The differences in the corneal thickness between pre- and post-wearing the lenses were compared using 5 kinds of lenses. The changes in the corneal thickness, the curvatures of the anterior and posterior cornea, and high order aberration (HOA) before and after wearing the lenses were investigated at the center of the cornea, and the different distance and the direction away from the center of the cornea. For the equipments of measurement, ORB ScanII (Bausch & Lomb Inc, ver 3.14) was used to measure the corneal topography and thickness, and Zywave (Bausch & Lomb Inc, ver 5.20) was used to analyze the high order aberration. Results: Five (S1, S2, S3, T1, T2) of the lens was used for this study, excluding the lens T2 lens has four lenses and the thickness of the corneal shape, but the impact is minimal. In the case of the hydrogel soft contact lenses (T2 lens) with low oxygen permeability, the corneal thickness showed distinct increasing patterns. The high order aberration and coma aberration were most changed in the silicon hydrogel toric lens, while the depth of anterior was most changed in the hydrogel toric lens. Conclusion: Among the 5 kinds of contact lenses with different water contents, materials, and refractive power used for this study, the corneal shape change was small for the lenses with an oxygen permeability (Dk) of more than 28, and the largest for the lenses with a very low oxygen permeability.

  • The primary aim of this paper is to generalize a theorem of Hirzebruch for the complex 2-dimensional Bott manifolds, usually called Hirzebruch surfaces, to more general Bott towers of height n. To do so, we first show that all complex vector bundles of rank 2 over a Bott manifold are classified by their total Chern classes. As a consequence, in this paper we show that two Bott manifolds $B_n({\alpha}_1,{\ldots},{\alpha}_{n-1},{\alpha}_n)$ and $B_n({\alpha}_1,{\ldots},{\alpha}_{n-1},{\alpha}_n^{\prime})$ are isomorphic to each other, as Bott towers if and only if both ${\alpha}_n{\equiv}{\alpha}_n^{\prime}$ mod 2 and ${\alpha}_n^2=({\alpha}_n^{\prime})^2$ hold in the cohomology ring of $B_{n-1}({\alpha}_1,{\ldots},{\alpha}_{n-1})$ over integer coefficients. This result will complete a circle of ideas initiated in [11] by Ishida. We also give some partial affirmative remarks toward the assertion that under certain condition our main result still holds to be true for two Bott manifolds just diffeomorphic, but not necessarily isomorphic, to each other.

  • In injection molding of an optical disk, a toric lens, etc., their performance depends on the transcription preciseness of fine surface structure of a mold. However, transcription behavior has not been made clear yet, because transcription is made in very short time and the structure is very small. In this paper, transcription properties have been examined, by using V-grooves of various sizes. machined on mold surfaces, and the following results are obtained. (1) Transcription properties have been made clear experimentally and it was found that the mold temperature $T_D$ makes great influence on the transcription property and that compression applying time $t_c$ should be taken more than 2.0s for fine transcription. (2) A mechanical model of transcription process, in consideration with strain recovery due to viscoelastic property of polymer. is proposed. (3) Simulation results agree with experimental ones fairly well. It means that the transcription model is useful for estimation of transcription property in advance of an actual. injection molding.

  • To manufacture the lens mold used in producing polycarbonate (PC) lenses, the core manufacturing is needed and this core manufacturing is generally performed by diamond turning machine (DTM) or computer numerical control (CNC) lathe. The numerical data about the lens core feature is necessarily needed for operating of these devices. Therefore, we developed the program which calculate the numerical data about the lens core feature. The program was composed to be able to input aspherical coefficients of lens feature, display the graph of lens feature, and save the numerical data file.

  • The aim of the work presented in this paper is development of numerical model for prediction of temperature distribution in pavement according to the measured meteorological parameters, with introduction of non-linear heat transfer coefficient which is a function of temerature difference between the air and the pavement. Developed model calculates heat radiated from the pavement back in the air, which is an important part of the heat trasfer process in the open air surfaces. Temperature of the pavement surface, heat radiation together with many meteorological parameters were measured in series during two years in order to validate the model and calibrate model parameters. Special finite element method for temperature heat transfer towards the soil together with the time integration scheme are used to solve the governing equation. It is proved that non-linear heat transfer coefficient, which is a function of time and temperature difference between the air and the pavement, is required to decribe this phenomena. Proposed model includes heat tranfer coefficient callibration for specific climate region, through the iterative inverse procedure.
