  • This study conducted landslide susceptibility analysis using logistic regression. The performance of prediction model needs to be evaluated considering two aspects such as a goodness of fit and a prediction accuracy. Thus to gain more objective prediction results in this study, the prediction performance of the applied model was evaluated considering two such evaluation aspects. The selected study area is located between Inje-eup and Buk-myeon in the middle of Kwangwon. Landslides in the study area were caused by heavy rain in 2006. Landslide causal factors were extracted from topographic map, forest map and soil map. The evaluation of prediction model was assessed based on the area under the curve of the cumulative gain chart. From the results of experiments, 87.9% in the goodness of fit and 84.8% in the cross validation were evaluated, showing good prediction accuracies and not big difference between the results of the two evaluation methods. The results can be interpreted in terms of the use of environmental factors which are highly related to landslide occurrences and the accuracy of the prediction model.

  • To predict urban growth according to changes in landcover, probability factors werecal culated and mapped. Topographic, geographic and social and political factors were used as prediction variables for constructing probability maps of urban growth. Urban growth-related factors included elevation, slope, aspect, distance from road, road ratio, distance from the main city, land cover, environmental rating and legislative rating. Accounting for these factors, probability maps of urban growth were constr uctedusing frequency ratio (FR) and logistic regression (LR) methods and the effectiveness of the results was verified by the relative operating characteristic (ROC). ROC values of the urban growth probability index (UGPI) maps by the FR and LR models were 0.937 and 0.940, respectively. The LR map had a slightly higher ROC value than the FR map, but the numerical difference was slight, with both models showing similar results. The FR model is the simplest tool for probability analysis of urban growth, providing a faster and easier calculation process than other available tools. Additionally, the results can be easily interpreted. In contrast, for the LR model, only a limited amount of input data can be processed by the statistical program and a separate conversion process for input and output data is necessary. In conclusion, although the FR model is the simplest way to analyze the probability of urban growth, the LR model is more appropriate because it allows for quantitative analysis.

  • Geostatistical methods were used for the groundwater flow analysis on the ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ tunnel area. Linear regression analysis shows that the topographic elevation and ground water level of this area have very high correlation. Groundwater-level contour maps produced by ordinary kriging and cokriging have little differences in mountain areas. But, comparing two maps on the basis of an elevation contour map, a groundwater-level contour map using cokring is more accurate. Analyzing the groundwater flow on two groundwater-level contour maps, the groundwater of study area flows from the north-west mountain areas to near valleys, and from the peak of the mountain to outside areas. In the design steps, the groundwater-level distribution is reasonably considered in the tunnel construction area by cokriging approach. And, geostatistics will provide quantitative information in the unknown groundwatrer-level area.

  • In this paper, as a prior study related to the generation of topographic information using the CAS500-1/2 satellite, we propose a method of extraction DSM for each 1:5000 scaled map in North Korea using KOMPSAT-3A strip images. This technique is designed to set the processing area by receiving shape file, only to generate output for every 1:5000 scaled map. In addition, dense point clouds and the DSM were extracted by applying MDR, a robust stereo image matching technique. Considering that the strip images are input in the units of scenes, we attempted to extract a DSM by processing and merging multiple image pairs in one 1:5000 map area. As a result, it was possible to confirm the generation of an integrated DSM with minimal separation at the junction, and as a result of the accuracy analysis, it was confirmed that the accuracy was within 5m compared to GCP.

  • For the National Geo-Spatial Information System the development of the National Digital Basemap database is actively underway in Korea. For the National Digital Basemap database to be truly useful for various applications development it is essential to maintain its reliability. To maintain the reliability of the database it is necessary to understand the nature and the frequency of the errors in it. In general, a data inspection under the standardized quality control process is required to maintain the quality of a large database. In addition, it is important to maintain complete and detailed records of the inspection results so as to understand the relationship between the m and other factors causing errors. These records can be used as a reference for map updates and future application development. The goal of this study is to count the frequency of errors based on the typology of errors found in the digitized map inspection process and to analyze the correlation between errors and topographic composite quotient This study also provides guidelines for the inspection process regarding the error-prone cartographic elements in the digital map generation process.

  • This paper outlines a new approach to the line generalization when preparing small scale map on the basis of existing large scale digital map. Line generalizations are conducted based on Douglas algorithm using 1/25,000 scale topographic maps of southeastern JEJU island which produced by National Geographic Institute to analyze the fitness to the original and problems of graphical representation. Compare to the same scale map which was generated by manual method, a verity of small, but sometimes significant errors & modification of topological relationship have been detected. The research gives full details of three algorithms that operationalize the smallest visible object method, together with some empirical results. A comparison of the results produced by the new algorithms with those produced by manual generalization and Douglas method of data reduction is provided. Also this paper presents the preliminary results of an relationships between the size of smallest visual object and requiring data storages for each algorithms.

  • The purpose of this study is to simulate inundation and evaluate the applicability of LISFLOOD model to the streams in South Korea by comparing with the inundation map using FLUMEN. The suggested levee breaching scenarios were applied to the LISFLOOD model, and the results obtained from scenarios were evaluated. The modeling results using LISFLOOD by appling the levee breaching scenarios showed 0.2% ~ 42% relative error with FLUMEN model in inundation area. But the relative error of maximum inundation area by overlapping all the flood analysis results from levee breaching scenarios such as the way making flood risk map was approximately 1.2% between two models. Meanwhile, LISFLOOD model was easy to construct input data, DEM as topographic data and discharge hydrograph as upper boundary conditions. And computing time of LISFLOOD was shorter than FLUMEN. Therefore LISFLOOD model can be applied usefully in the region that needs immediate inundation modeling.

  • This study suggests the adjustment method of cadastral non-coincidence using spatial data referenced digital cadastral map and a present state. In designing the methodology, we should introduce the semi-automatic method for guaranteeing the stability and the accuracy at the arrangement of cadastral non-coincidence based on some cadastral specialist. This study could mainly show you rotation type, bias type, and rotation/bias type among cadastral non-coincidence types. We selected the matching reference point through the prototype system which automatically arranges in the study area. And then, we analysis the optimum rotation ratio(-0.4%). Finally, this paper show you calibrating cadastral non-coincidence using the rotation ratio. The methodology of this study has a limitation for arranging in case of cadastral non-coincidence by the area variation and some irregular types with unknown reason. Therefore, this case should be surveyed in direct method.

  • Recently geospatial information has used widely in many areas such as effective use and management of national land, establishment of city planning, managements of environments and disasters, etc. But present digital map is not suitable for nowadays because of delay of information renewal and changes of topography. In this study, GIS DB construction method was researched through the process of extracting main vector layers such as buildings, roads, contours, etc. from LiDAR data. In order to analyze accuracies of constructed data, the digital topographic maps of 1:1000 scale which were produced by Korea National Geographic Information Institute(NGI) and results of GPS survey were used. Effective DB construction method was suggested through comparing with existing GIS DB construction methods.
