모(母)와 자녀간(子女間) 부정교합(不正咬合)의 유전성(遺傳性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A STUDY ON THE INHERITANCE OF MALOCCLUSION BETWEEN THE MOTHER AND OFFSPRING)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the correlations of malocclusion between the mother and the offspring and thus heritable features from mother to her offspring. Dental impression was taken of the both jaws of 73 mothers and their sons and 109 mothers and their daughters, and the measurement was obtained from the models. The correlation coefficient of the mesio-distal diameters of teeth and that of occlusion and arch variable was calculated from the mesurement. After the data was analyzed and estimated, the following results were obtained : 1. It was evident that the tooth size of the offspring was influenced from their mother. 2. It was evident that the occlusion, the arch size and shape of the offspring were influenced from their mother. 3. There was not the marked difference between the heredity of occlusion variable and arch variable on the mother-offspring relationship. 4. The correlation of the lower intercanine width and the lower available space discrepancy between the mother and the offspring were greatly influenced with the environmental factor.

  • Accurate acquisition of surface geometries such as machined surfaces, biological surfaces, and deformed parts have been very important technique in scientific study and engineering, expecially for system design, manufacturing and inspection. Two camera method keeps accuracy more than double than mechanical method. In this paper, we describe the processes surface data of teeth for automatic processing, transformation that changes to coping data of possible numeric data form, and processed inlay teeth. As the result of the Inlay manufacture, which can process with high resolution, therefore we construct the automatic processing system that depends on manual.

소형 수문용 랙-피니언의 접촉 피로수명 (Contact Fatigue Life of Rack-Pinion for Small-Sized Sluice Gate)

  • Gate-lifting devices in small- to mid-sized sluice gates mostly employ the mechanical roller rack pinion (RRP) system. This RRP system, which consists of a rack-bar and a pinion, transforms a rotation motion into a linear one. The rack-bar has a series of roller trains that mesh with the pinion. In this study, we adopt an exact involute-trochoid tooth profile of the pinion to obtain a higher contact fatigue strength using the profile modification coefficient. Further, we determine the contact forces and investigate Hertz contact stresses to predict the pitting life of the pinion according to varying the shape design parameters. The results indicate that the design fatigue life of an RRP system for sluice gate can be achieved only when the design value of the profile modification coefficient reaches or exceeds a certain level.

Detent Force Analysis in Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor Considering Longitudinal End Effects

  • This paper presents a uniform analytical model by energy method and Fourier series expansion to analyze detent force in uneven magnetic field for permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). The model reveals that detent force in long-primary type is mainly influenced by non-ideal distribution of permanent magnet magnetic motive force, while nounified air-gap permeance makes a great impact on detent force of short-primary type. Hence, magnetic field similarity of motor design techniques referring rotary counterpart are adopted. For long-primary type novel method of splitting edge magnets is proposed to reduce end effects force, and optimal widths of edge tooth in short-primary type also verify the effectiveness of magnetic field similarity. The experimental results validate finite element analysis results.

  • Because of the development in mold industries, the geometrical form accuracy of the milled surface is getting more and more important. It has been known that the geometrical form accuracy is affected by machine conditions, cutting conditions, tool conditions and tool path and so on. Among them, the tool approaching path causes the change in material removal per tooth at the end of each machining cycle. And, this change generates the geometrical form error around the region where the tool engages the workpiece initially. So, it is impossible to eliminate the geometrical error caused by the tool approaching path. Thus, characteristics of this geometrical error are studied analytically and experimentally to minimize this region.

  • This study was undertaken to finish the design of the adequate preadjusted bracket in Korean. The labio-lingual & bucco-lingual width of tooth & in-and-out of the bracket base was studied in normal occlusion of 17 males & 17 females. The following results were obtained. 1. The in-and-outs of the bracket base in Korean were obtained (table 2). 2. The in-and-outs of the premolar & molar were no significant due to variation according to arch wire shape in clinical practice, so the more adjustment of arch wire was required. 3. The more amount of offset was required at lateral-canine offset than at central-lateral offset in 1st order bending, due to difference of the in-and-out. 4. The degrees of the anti-rotation in molar were obtained (table 3).

  • The cycloidal reducer is one of the velocity controlling equipments in machinery. It has advantages of the higher reduction ratio, the higher accuracy, the easier adjustment of the transmission ratio and the smaller workspace than any other kinds of the reducers. This paper proposes a simple and exact approach for the lobe profile design of the two teeth difference cycloidal plate gear, which is different from the standard cycloidal reducer, by means of the principle of the instant velocity center in the general contact mechanism and the homogeneous coordinate transformation.

  • There are many difficulties in automatic polishing for die & mold surfaces. Even though the process has been studied in the past 15 years, it has not been achieved yet, but by the process of actual hand work of well-skilled workers. A new magentic assisted polishing process, which is one of the potential method for automation of surface finishing has been studied in the past 10 years by colleagues. The process has many merits, but on the other hand also has demerits, one being low efficiency of gridability by comparision with grinding wheel polish. Therefore, some attempts were tried to improve the grindability by adopting electropolishing, ultra-high speed milling, 5-axis controlled machine etc... most recently by collegues. This study also aims to improve the efficiency of polishing by introducing the easily-polished shape surface milling method equalizing the tool feed per tooth to the pick feed. This milling method was experimentally confirmed to have sufficient grindability to polish milled surface (with 10 .mu. mRmax surface roughness) into mirror surface (with 0.4 .mu. mRmax surface roughness).

  • Nowadays, the necessity of linear position control motors have been increased in the various fields of the automatic control system. In the recently, the position control motor have disadvantaged in the efficiency and economical view since it require a conversion equipments such as belt and gear in order to convert rotary to linear motion. On the contrary, the hybrid linear stepping motor(HLSM) of linear motion digital actuator has a direct drive method that do not need mechanical conversion equipments. Therefore, the HLSM is better advantaged in the efficiency and economical view than a rotary stepping motor. In this paper, we have designed an optimum tooth shape and a permanent magnet value between the mover teeth by the 2D finite element method(FEM) to develop the HLSM with longitudinal flux machine(LFM) type, and calculated the thrust force and normal force. And we have manufactured the prototype of it. and have experimented the thrust force and the dynamic thrust characteristics of it.

An Efficient Virtual Teeth Modeling for Dental Training System

  • This paper describes an implementation of virtual teeth modeling for a haptic dental simulation. The system allows dental students to practice dental procedures with realistic tactual feelings. The system requires fast and stable haptic rendering and volume modeling techniques working on the virtual tooth. In our implementation, a volumetric implicit surface is used for intuitive shape modification without topological constraints and haptic rendering. The volumetric implicit surface is generated from input geometric model by using a closest point transformation algorithm. And for visual rendering, we apply an adaptive polygonization method to convert volumetric teeth model to geometric model. We improve our previous system using new octree design to save memory requirement while increase the performance and visual quality.
