  • This paper presents the error correction method of magnetic position sensor using recursive least square method (RLSM) with forgetting factor. Magnetic position sensor is proposed for linear position detection of the linear motor which has tooth shape stator, consists of permanent magnet, iron core and linear hall sensor, and generates sine and cosine waveforms according to the movement of the mover of the linear motor. From the output of magnetic position sensor, the position of the linear motor can be detected using arc-tan function. But the variation of the air gap between magnetic position sensor and the stator and the error in manufacturing process can cause the variation in offset, phase and amplitude of the generated waveforms when the linear motor moves. These variations in sine and cosine waveforms are changed according to the current linear motor position, and it is very difficult to compensate the errors using constant value. In this paper, the generated sine and cosine waveforms from the magnetic position sensor are compensated on-line using the RLSM with forgetting factor. And the speed observer is introduced to reduce the effect of uncompensated harmonic component. The approaches are verified by some simulations and experiments.

  • Aluminum alloy is a core material for structural parts of aircraft and automobiles to reduce the weight and maintain high specific strength. This study evaluates the machinability and investigates the optimal cutting conditions considering the surface integrity and productivity for Al7050-T7451 milling. The machining variables considered are the feed per tooth, spindle speed, axial depth of the cut, and radial depth of the cut. The machinability evaluation of Al7050-T7451 is conducted by analyzing the cutting force signals, acceleration signals, AE signals, and machined surface conditions. The optimal cutting conditions are determined by analyzing the experimental results using response surface methodology for stable machining considering the productivity and surface integrity.

  • The taxonomy of the Isodon excisus complex has been ambiguous and problematic because the morphological characters, especially characters related to the leaf distinguishing subgroups of the complex in the original descriptions, are variable. To elucidate the taxonomic structure of the I. excisus complex in Korea, 34 characters were measured from 70 OTUs representing different locations and analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA). The analysis showed that principle component axis 1, 2, 3 (PC1, PC2, PC3) represents 52.0% of the total variance and characters showing high loading values for PC1 were leaf shape, density of non-glandular hairs on the lower surface of the leaf, and characters related to the teeth of the leaf. The length of apical tooth and the angle between two widest points of the leaf were highly correlated to PC2 and PC3, respectively. Three-dimensional scatter plotting of OTUs for PC1, PC2, and PC3 axis showed that the areas of previously recognized three subgroups of I. excisus completely overlapped. Our result supported that just one taxon, I. excisus var. excisus, should be recognized in the complex at the variety level.

  • Development of a curvic-coupling was presented in this paper. The research covers design, structural analysis, hot-temperature-torsion-test, curvic-coupling applied proto-type turbine disk manufacturing, and assembly test of a curvic-coupling rotor system for the turbopump application. Curvic-coupling was designed based on the Gleason-standard-tooth shape. The load capability of the designed curvic coupling was validated by the structural analysis and hot-temperature-torsion-test. A proto-type turbine disk which had adopted designed curvic-coupling was manufactured, assembled and tested to reveal that shaft-disk assembly run-outs in axial and radial directions were much smaller than the design requirements. The development will be finalized after spin test of shaft-disk assembly in near future.

  • In esthetic dentistry, color and strength are basic requirements for the long-term success of the restorative materials. Several all ceramic systems have been introduced to esthetic dentistry recently. However, the inherent natures of ceramic material, the application of all ceramic system is mainly limited to single tooth restorations. With the improvement of material science, the alumina and zirconia/alumina composite power and block can be applied to fabrication of all ceramic bridges. The conventional inceram core fabrication takes time for sintering however, the shaping of block with a copy milling machine can reduce great amount of time. The block is easy to manipulate and prepare in any shape accurately. This clinical report demonstrates the application of all ceramic ante rior 3 unit bridge with a alumina block in CELAY system.

  • The severe problem in improving the positioning precision of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is the large detent farce caused by the permanent magnet arrangement. It is generally an undesired effect that contributes to the torque ripple, vibration and noise of machine. The detent force is arisen from the difference of the position of a permanent magnet end and a tooth position. In this paper, the four methods to reduce detent force were studied and analyzed. The methods are adjusting the width of permanent magnet, varying the shape of armature teeth, relocating the permanent magnet, and adjusting the width of permanent magnet and relocating the permanent magnet at the same time. To analyze the detent farce according to flour methods, a two-dimensional Finite Element Analysis [FEA] was used and we compared with the ratio of reduction of the detent farce according to the flour methods.

  • A cystic compound odontoma in the maxillary sinus occurred in a 13-year-old boy. who had missing right upper third molar without having the history of extraction of the wisdom tooth. He complained nasal stuffiness. headache. and pain on the affected face. resembling any sign and symptoms of the maxillary sinus problems. The cystic compound. sized 2 x 1.5 cm in diameter was pedunculated and attached on the posterior wall of the right maxillary sinus and above the antral floor. The location of the compound odontoma in the maxillary sinus was confirmed after panoramic. waters. spiral tomographic. CT examinations and surgical exploration. Its location was on the medial. posterior. superior to the normal position of the maxillary third molar or the maxillary dental arch. The cystic odontoma in the maxillary sinus made the patient have the signs and symptoms of maxillary sinusitis. The cystic compound odontoma might be originated from the dental lamina of the missing upper right third molar. The 'V principle' of the upper jaw growth and the pneumatization process of the maxillary sinus could explain why the compound odontoma had peduncular shape and the location of odontoma was on the medial. superior to the normal position of the maxillary dental arch.

  • Since the implant became the important treatment modality in dentistry, the research and clinical effort to mimic natural tooth appearance have been pursued. While the rehabilitation of mastication and occlusal appearance was focused in the past, more esthetic and functional restoration was preferred recently. To fulfill this demand, the clinicians should consider the axial contour, papilla space, subgingival appearance, as well as the shape of occlusal surface. In the surgery part, there have been significant advances in the adequate formation of bone and soft tissue through the careful reflection on the surgery time and incision. When the dentist has good knowledge about this aspect and passion for the final product, he or she can acquire better results.

  • This experiment was done to find out how the length and the diameter of the sprue effects the porosity created during the moduling process, which is caused by the metal's shrinking and stretching action. the experiment was done in two groups(A and B), using experimental gold, and made 10 copings for both groups. 1. In group A, The length of the sprues were given the same, but the diameter of the sprue were 6, 8, 10, 12, 18 gauge. As a result, the porosity came out big with 12 and 18 gauge and for 10, 8, 6 gauge, the porosity was hardly seen or none was noticeable. 2. In group B, the diameter was given the sam for the sprues, but the length of the sprues were 5, 10, 15, 20, 25mm. As a result, the porosity came out big with 25, 20, 15mm the porosity was hardly seen or none was noticeable. 3. The diameter needs to be big and the length, short. 4. The appropriate sized sprue must be chosen for each individual tooth, according to it's shape and size.

  • In the recently, the necessity of the hybrid type linear stepping motor(HLSM) of linear motion digital actuator has been increased in the various fields of the automatic control system. The HLSM is directly performed without any converting mechanism. Therefore, the HLSM is better advantaged in the efficiency and economical view than a rotary stepping motor. In this paper, we have designed an optimum tooth shape by the 2D finite element method(FEM) to develop the HLSM with longitudinal flux machine(LFM) type, and calculated the thrust force and normal force. And we have manufactured the prototype of it, and have experimented the thrust force characteristics of it.
