The vibration amplitude of boring bar is generally large at the tool tip, because it has the high length-diameter(L/D) ratio. A new dynamic cutting force model is presented by considering the change of shear angle under dynamic cutting. The boring bar is modelled as a cantilever with dynamic force acting at the tool end point. Based on this realistic continuous system model, the equation of motion of borring bar is solved by numerical computations. A good agreement is found between the proposed model and the experimental results.

When impeller machining needs to be machined over a length in order to avoid interference with neighboring surfaces between material and tool, there are no databases about cutting condition according to tool slenderness ratio. So selection and machining of cutting condition depends on expert's experience. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is deciding cutting condition in roughing and finishing process of impeller according to slenderness ratio of AL7075's end-mill that is the most commonly used for impeller. We have tested for about relation between Slenderness ration and fluctuation width of the cutting force, surface roughness and depth of cut ratio to observe cutting characteristics according to slenderness ratio. The experiments of cutting characteristics and processing criteria are compared with AL5052 which is existing information.

This paper was carried out to know the influence of advanced austempered ductile cast iron (ADI) on the tool life and mechanical properties of drilling machinability. For manufactured method of ADI, the spheroidal graphite cast iron were austenized at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour and then austempered for 2 hour at 37$0^{\circ}C$ in the salt bath. And interrelationship has been investigated between tool life and mechanical characteristics of specimen material on drilling condition when the ordinary and step-feed drilling are carried out to drill holes of specimens. Tensile strength and hardness of ADI decrease and elongation of ADI increases with the increase austempered temperature. It is known that about 2 times of tool life in the case of step-feed decreases compared with ordinary feed due to the high hardness of ADI and hardness ascribed to the fact that retained austenite became to martensite state due to cutting heat in drilling. Under the constant feed rate 0.1mm/rev relation between hardness and length of end tip after drilling can be formularized to Hv=$788.46L^{-0.096}$ for the cutting speed 6.1m/min.

The rotary feed axes of a 5-axis machine tool can increase the freedom of the tool posture, while reducing feed speed and rigidity. In addition, as a ball-end mill is inevitably used during machining by rotational feed, the step-over length is reduced compared to the flat-end mill, thereby reducing the material removal rate. Therefore, this study attempts to improve the material removal rate, feed speed, and machining stability using the corner radius flat-end mill and a fixed controlled machining method for the rotary feed axes during roughing. In addition, the tapered ball-end mill and simultaneously controlled machining method for the rotary feed axes were used for finishing to improve the propeller's 5-axis machining efficiency by enhancing the surface quality. In order to create the tool path effectively and easily, we propose a specific approach for using the propeller's geometric properties and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method by comparing it with the method of the dedicated module.

This paper introduces the developed geometry PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge), one of several ILI (In-Line Inspection) tools, which provide a full picture of the pipeline from only single pass, and has compact size of the electronic device with not only low power consumption but also rapid response of sensors such as calipers, IMU and odometer. This tool is equipped with the several sensor systems. Caliper sensors measure the pipeline internal diameter, ovality and dent size and shape with high accuracy. The IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) measures the precise trajectory of the PIG during its traverse of the pipeline. The IMU also provide three-dimensional coordination in space from measurement of inertial acceleration and angular rate. Three odometers mounted on the PIG body provide the distance moved along the line and instantaneous velocity during the PIG run. The datum measured by the sensor systems are stored in on-board solid state memory and magnetic tape devices. There is an electromagnetic transmitter at the back end of the tool, the transmitter enables the inspection operators to keep tracking the tool while it travels through the pipeline. An experiment was fulfilled in pull-rig facility and was adopted from Incheon LT (LNG Terminal) to Namdong GS (Governor Station) line, 13 km length.

A clear understanding of the surface formation mechanism due to cutting is very important to help produce a good quality surface. Much of the roughness along the length of a bar being cut in a lathe can be explained in terms of macroscopic tool shape and feed rate. However, the roughness along the direction of cutting requires a different explanation. The formation of surface roughness is a problem in flow and fracture of materials in the vicinity of the tool edge. On a microscopic scale the cutting edge is rounded because it is impossible to grind a perfectly sharp cutting edge. Even if a perfectly sharp cutting edge were obtained it would soon become dull as a result of rapid breakdown and wear of the cutting edge. A research project is proposed in which in the main object is to model the surface formation mechanism due to cutting. The tool was assumed to be dull, that is, its edge has a finite radius. In order to study the effect of the radius of cutting edge on the surface formation, tools having different cutting edges were used. For orthogonal cutting experiment, cast iron and glass were chosen as brittle materials. Plowing forces acting in the cutting edge were estimated and its effect on the surface roughness was studied by observing the machined surface using optical microscope.

Recent evolution of communication networks has led toward increasingly a complex, large-scale protocol. Protocol conformance tests therefore, which consider only control flow, have many problems on testing data flow, transition condition, delay and so on. We propose, design, and implement the tool to solve these problems. The tool, which solves nondeterminism, generates test suites from an integrated flow graph and excludes infeasible path with reachable tree. The presented tool reduces the length of UIO sequence and is efficient partially to test the path that error rate is high. Our automatic test suite generator provides basis of protocol testing environment and high production.

As increasing demand for precise machining in advanced disciplines, especially in semi-conductor, aeronautical and automotive industries, the magnetic abrasive deburring(MAD) which is able to eliminate micro-sized burr on complex surface in less time has drawn the attention in the last decades. However, the performance of MAD is subject to shape and size of a tool. Therefore, this study aim to identify deburring behavior of MAD in U-type flow channel by measuring the length rate of burr removal in radial distance of the cylindrical tool under four process factors. In order to evaluate the deburring effect of MAD on the surface, finishing regions are divided based on center of the circular cutting tool. As a results, it was defined that the amount of burr removal in a downward direction moving toward flow channel from the top surface was higher than upward direction. This is because the magnetic abrasives were detached from magnetic lines of force due to geometrical shape.
Ionizing radiation can be used to sanitize herbs contaminated by various microorganisms. However, health concerns related to irradiation damage to complex molecules in plants necessitate that methods be developed to monitor such damage. To elucidate DNA damage of herbs caused by irradiation, the DNA comet assay was used for Astragalus membranaceus Bunge and Havenia dulcis Thumb, irradiated at 1, 5, 7, and 10 kGy. With increasing irradiation doses, the tails of comets became longer with average tail length increasing from 17 (non-irradiated) to 124 (10 kGy) $\mu$m in Astragalus membranaceus Bunge. Above 7 kGy, some of the tails were separated from the heads of comets. Distribution patterns of the tail length of In comets selected randomly in the irradiated herbs were analyzed to quantify the DNA damage. These results clearly suggest that the DNA comet assay is an effective and inexpensive tool for the detection of irradiation damage to DNA in herbs.

In this study, turbulent flows in a grooved channel are numerically investigated by Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Especially, a parametric study is carried out to study effects of length and depth of a groove on large-scale flow structures. For one test case, comparison of LES results with those of DNS reveals a good agreement even though the number of grid points of LES is only 6.5% of that of DNS. This confirms that LES is a suitable tool for a parametric study of turbulent flows. The subsequent parametric study using LES shows that the large-scale turbulent structures are significantly affected by the geometry of the groove. Especially, when the length of the groove is short such that the recirculation region occupies the entire groove, the turbulent flow in the groove becomes very weak in both mean and fluctuation quantities.
