Study on the Development of Program for Measuring Preference of Portrait based on Sensibility (감성기반 인물사진 선호도 측정 프로그램 개발 연구)

  • This study aimed to develop a model of the program for automation measuring the preference of the portraits based on the relationship between the image quality factors and the preferences in the portraits for manufacturers aiming at high utilization of the users. in order to proceed with the evaluation, the image quality measurement was divided into objective and subjective items, and the evaluation was done through image processing and statistical methods. the image quality measurement items can be divided into objective evaluation items and subjective evaluation items. RSC Contrast, Dynamic Range and Noise were selected for the objective evaluation items, and the numerical values were statistically analyzed and evaluated through the program. Exposure, Color Tone, composition of person, position of person, and out of focus were selected for subjective evaluation items and evaluated by image processing method. By applying objective and subjective assessment items, the results were very accurate, with the results obtained by the developed program and the results of the actual visual inspection. but since the currently developed program can be evalua ted only after facial recognition of the person, future research will need to develop a program that can evaluate all kinds of portraits.

Effects of Surface Finishing Methods on Quality of Kimchi in Stand Vessel During Storage (김치표면 마감 방법이 저장중인 김치의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate effects of the surface finishing methods (A : conventional press stone, B : enclosing in polyethylene (PE) bag, C : press-tone wrapped with PE film and D : covered with Chinese cabbage leaves 4cm in thickness on Kimchi) on Kimchi quality, pH-values, redness, film forming yeast growth, hardness and sensory quality of Kimchi during storage (for 60 days, at $10{\pm}5^{\circ}C$) in glass vessel $(11{\times}30cm)$ were investigated. pH of the top layer of A, C and D sample were higher than the optimum pH (4.2) of Kimchi, film forming yeast occurred on the surface of Kimchi, color of top layer Kimchi juice was darkened, and panel score of freshness and firmness was significantly worse (p<0.01) than that of sample B. However, in the case of Kimchi stored in PE bag (B), film forming yeast were can't detected visually in the surface of Kimchi, pH values were low as good quality Kimchi, freshness and firmness panel scores and hardness were significantly better (p<0.01) than A, C and D, and redness of juice of top layer of B was also preserved clearly for 60 days. Accordingly among the four surface finishing methods, the B-method was most effective in preserving of y of Kimchi.

Print Mottle : Causes and Solutions from Paper Coating Industry Perspective

  • The principal reasons for applying a pigment coating to paper are to improve appearance and printability. The pigment coating provides a surface that is more uniform and more receptive to printing ink than are the uncoated fibers and, in turn, both facilitates the printing process and enhances the graphic reproduction. The improvement in print quality is readily apparent, especially in image areas or when multiple colors are involved. Although pigment coating of paper is to improve the printability, coated paper is not completely free from printing defects. Actually there are a number printing defects that are observed only with the coated papers. Among the printing defects that are commonly observed for coated papers, print mottle during multi-color offset printing is one of the most concerned defects, and it appears not only on solid tone area but also half dot print area. There are four main causes of print mottle ranging from printing inks, dampening solution, paper, and printing press or its operation. These indicates that almost every factors associated with lithographic printing can cause print mottle. Among these variation of paper quality influences most significantly on print mottle problems in multicolor offset printing, and this indicates that paper is most often to be blamed for its product deficiency as far as print mottle problems are concerned. Furthermore, most of the print mottle problems associated with paper is observed when coated papers are printed. Uncoated papers rarely show mottling problems. This indicates that print mottle is the most serious quality problems of coated paper products. Overcoming the print mottle is becoming more difficult because the operating speeds of coating and printing machines are increasing, coating weights are decreasing, and the demands on high-quality printing are increasing. Print mottle in offset printing is caused by (a) nonuniform back trap of ink caused by a nonuniform rate of ink drying, referred as "back trap mottle, and (b) nonuniform absorption of the dampening solution. Furthermore, both forms of print mottle have some relationship to the structure of the coated layer. The surest way of eliminating ink mottling is to eliminate unevenness in the base paper. Coating solutions, often easier to put into practice, should, however, be considered. In this paper the principal factors influencing print mottle of coated papers will be discussed. Especially the importance of base paper roughness, binder migration, even consolidation of coating layers, control of the drying rate, types of binders, etc. will be described.

Edge Enhanced Error Diffusion Halftoning Method Using Local Activity Measure (공간활성도를 이용한 에지 강조 오차확산법)

  • Digital halftoning is a process to produce a binary image so that the original image and its binary counterpart appear similar when observed from a distance. Among digital halftoning methods, error diffusion is a procedure for generating high quality bilevel images from continuous-tone images but blurs the edge information in the bilevel images. To solve this problem, we propose the improved error diffusion using local spatial information of the original images. Based on the fact that the human vision perceives not a pixel but local mean of input image, we compute edge enhancement information(EEI) by appling the ratio of a pixel and its adjacent pixels to local mean. The weights applied to local means is computed using the ratio of local activity measure(LAM) to the difference between input pixels of 3$\times$3 blocks and theirs mean. LAM is the measure of luminance changes in local regions and is obtained by adding the square of the difference between input pixels of 3$\times$3 blocks and theirs mean. We add the value to a input pixel of quantizer to enhance edge. The performance of the proposed method is compared with conventional methods by measuring the edge correlation. The halftone images by using the proposed method show better quality due to the enhanced edge. And the detailed edge is preserved in the halftone images by using the proposed method. Also the proposed method improves the quality of halftone images because unpleasant patterns for human visual system are reduced.

Comparison of the Quality Characteristics and Aroma of M. Longissimus from Korean Native Black Pigs and Modem Genotype Pigs during Vacuum Packaged-Chilling (재래종 및 개량종 돼지 등심의 진공포장 냉장중 품질특성 및 향기비교)

  • This study compared the quality characteristics, including aroma, of M. longissimus from five Korean native black barrows(64 kg, KNP) and five modem genotype barrows($Landrace{\times}Yorkshire{\times}Duroc$, 114 kg, MGP), during vacuum packaged-chilling. The samples were vacuum packaged, stored at $2{\pm}0.3^{\circ}C$ for 12 days, and then subjected to quality measurement. The KNP had higher fat content than did MGP(p<0.05), but KNP contained lower C14:0, C18:3 and C20:5 concentrations than did MGP(p<0.05). The KNP showed lower pH values(p<0.05) and water-holding capacities than did MGP, and were redder in color than MGP during storage. The TBARS increased more quickly in KNP than in MGP samples during storage. In texture, KNP showed firmer muscle tone than did MGP during storage(p<0.05). Various aroma compounds including 3-methyl-l-butanol, 2-ethyl hexanol and m-xylene were detected with SPME-GC/MS after 12 days of storage, and aroma patterns of KNP and MGP, obtained with an electronic nose, differed during storage.

  • This paper applied components of experience-based communication in terms of experience theory of Burnd H. Schmitt and context-based communication in the messenger platform environment through the scenario-based survey method, in order to study the influence of individual experiences, shared experiences, ubiquitous connectivity, and contextual usefulness on the perceived value and use intention of chatbot. Through this, the study is to provide companies in various service industries with practical approaches to further promote the use of chatbot. The implications of this study are as follows. First, as most chatbots still do not exceed the human planning level of designing them, it is necessary to consider how to design individual experience elements functionally according to the customer's intention to speak when developing the chatbot. Second, the chatbot should be designed not only from the perspective of completing specific tasks at any real time in anywhere, but also from the overall perspective of enhancing the quality of interaction, including the situation to which the customer belongs. Third, since the chatbot is likely to be anthropomorphized by users, it is important to be cautious about determining the chatbot's 'persona' and 'tone and manner' when developing the chatbot. Customer satisfaction is the most important criterion for the success of chatbot development. In other words, the quality of planning and data rather than the quality of artificial intelligence algorithms determines the utilization of chatbot. This is why companies are trying to make interactions with chatbot as close as possible to human interactions.

  • The goal of perceptual audio coder is to reduce redundancy and irrelevancy of audio signal based on the concept of masking. Several studies on masking effect reveal that the masking threshold varies as a function of the noise-like or tone-like nature of audio signals. Therefore, tonality of audio signal influences significantly the quality and efficiency of perceptual audio coder In this paper, we propose a new effective algorithm for tonality measure using spectrum energy. Since the proposed algorithm consists of a few transcendental functions and simple operations, it has lower complexity than MPEG psychoacoustic model-II. The proposed algorithm was tested with some audio signals, and DSP implementation showed that the proposed algorithm could be implemented with 3 MIPS. These results illustrate the efficiency of proposed algorithm in both performance and complexity.

  • This paper introduces design and implementation of digital photo kiosk system, digital photo printing system, with auto color correction module that considers gamut between touch screen and output device, digital photo printer, to provide user-preferred media. This module performs media correction function to service high quality contents for image captured by digital camera and mobile phone camera. Since it is implemented as LUT for real-time processing, the system offers one-touch interface to user. As a result of implementation, this kiosk system provides user-favorite photo because of black and white mode, sepia mode, and brightness and contrast adjustment. Also it can gives smooth tone transition and photos of similar color to captured image due to auto color correction module.

  • The viewpoint of growth pursuit is changed to that of life quality's and happiness' pursuit by modern people. Modern people in digital environment, tired of fast-changing and oppressive daily life, prefer well-being trend providing tranquility and relaxation. Well-being is related to digital, because negative influences of digital lead human-oriented, environment-friendly well-being design. Therefore the purpose of this study is to research and analyze the relation of well-being fashion design and digital environment through case study in contemporary well-being fashion design. The results of this study are as follows: 1. This study shows that the attributes of digital environment make up function-intensive, interactivity, mobility & nomad, human & emotion-oriented and environment-friendly. And this study shows the design characteristics of digital environment consist of function-intensive design by digital convergence, open structure design for interactivity, modular design for mobility & nomad, emotion-oriented & multi-sensory design and environment- friendly design. 2. Function-intensive design in modem well-being fashion composed of vogue of caports style(casual+sports), practical use of multi-functional new-healthy textiles, and popularity of many style's mixture at once. Open structure design consist of wrapover design, use of transparent materials. Modular design are layered styling, practical use of zipper and velcro. Emotion-oriented & multi-sensory design are constitute of fad of wrinkle materials, application of bright & vivid tone, personal color and family look. Environment-friendly design in contemporary well-being fashion are comprised in use of natural color, re-advent of natural floral motif and eco-design.

Enhancing Visual Perception Using Color Processing Of Mobile Display (색상처리를 통한 감성 모바일 디스플레이)

  • Mobile display panel is small so that users are often difficult to perceive images clearly. About image we perceive much through colors and therefore we propose color fitting approach for clear perception even on the small and low quality LCD panels. Various color modifications have been studied and used in commercial software packages. For mobile usage, our approach instantly enhances color images by modifying colors in a way to contrast differences of them. The method includes tone enhancements (which contrast dark and bright sides) and color enhancements (which reduce saturation for pure colorants). Based on color theory, our method also modifies color values towards specified complementary and preference colors. We term this color fitting. This approach enables displaying photos, multimedia messages, videos and digital media broadcasting (DMB) for better perception in real-time on mobile devices.
