Human aorta has viscoelastic behavior. The test of tissues such as aorta, skin, muscle, and ok. is required to consider visco effect on deformation behavior. Creep and slow recovery are main aspects of viscoelasticity of tissue engineering. Volumatric strain plays a important role in determine slow recovery of human arota. This study is to suggest the method avoiding viscous effect in tissue experiment The results shows the time scale when the specimen can be fully recovered from slow deformation. Also, this study observes the qualitative creep-effect on elastic strain in 1 minute at the same loading.

A skin tissue system is considered, whose configuration is electrically modelled by a layer over the infinite half space. The problem is to estimate the layer\`s thickness and respective conductivity from the measured impedance between the electrodes placed on the skin surface. A simulation is taken place as the optimization problem which is to minimize the norm between the \"measured\" and the solution for the assumed parameters.arameters.
Bacterial cellulose (BC) is generated from citrus gel by Gluconacetobacter hansenii TL-2C. BC has good properties such as high-burst pressure, high-water contact and the ultrafine highly nanofibrous structure of mimic natural extracellular matrix (ECM) for tissue engineering. In this study, acrylic acid (AAc) was grafted onto BC surfaces under aqueous conditions using gamma-ray irradiation, and then immobilized gelatin onto AAc-g-BC. The characterization of scaffolds was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), toluidine blue O (TBO) assay. Morphology of gelatin and AAc incorporation onto BC nanofibers did not changed. Our study suggests that gelatin-immobilized BC nanofibers scaffold has a potentiality to fabricate 3D nanofibrous scaffolds for tissue engineering.
Vascular tissue engineering has been accessed to mimic the natural composition of the blood vessel containing intima, media, and adventitia layers. We fabricated mechanically expanded PLLA/PLCL nanofibers using electrospinning and UTM. The pore size of the meshes was increased the gelatin immobilized AAc-PLLA/PLCL nanofibers ($203.30{\pm}49.62microns$) than PLLA/PLCL nanofibers ($59.99{\pm}8.66microns$) after mechanical expansion. To increase the cell adhesion and proliferation, we introduced carboxyl group, and gelatin was conjugated on them. The properties of the PLLA/PLCL nanofibers were analyzed with SEM, ATR-FTIR, TBO staining, and water contact angle measurement, general cell responses on the PLLA/PLCL nanofibers such as adhesion, proliferation, and infiltration were also investigated using smooth muscle cell (SMC). During the SMC culture, the initial viability of the cells was significantly increased on the gelatin immobilized AAc-PLLA/PLCL nanofibers, and infiltration of the cells was also enhanced on them. Therefore, gelatin immobilized AAc-PLLA/PLCL nanofibers and mechanically expanded meshes may be a good tool for vascular tissue engineering application.

In this paper we analyzed the mechanical behavior with respect to the thickness variation of elastic foundation(fatty tissue) in end-to-end anastomosis. This study considered the preliminary deformed shape induced by suturing in the anastomosis of coronary artery and PTFE with different diameters using simplified suturing model and the fatty tissue surrounding heart and coronary artery for more accurate result using finite element method. Area compliance(CA) was used to analyze the final deformed shape of the anastomotic part with respect to the thickness variation of fatty tissue under mean blood pressure, 100mmHg(13.3㎪). And Equivalent and circumferential stresses in the anastomosis were also analyzed with respect to the change of initial diameter ratio( $R_1$) and fatty tissue thickness( $T_{F}$). The results obtained were as follows : 1 When the elastic foundation, assumed to be incompressive material, surrounded the grafts in anastomosis, the compliance mismatch of artery and PTFE was reduced by 47 -72%. 2. As the initial diameter ratio( $R_1$) became larger, the higher difference of compliance was induced in spite of elastic foundation surrounding grafts. 3. The maximum nondimensional circumferential stress is twice or three times as high as the maximum nondimensional equivalent stress in the anastomotic part.t.
To investigate the mechanism of adriamycin (ADM) resistance in the ADM resistant subline PC-14/ADM, we examined the expressions of p-glycoprotein (P-gp), topoisomerase I (Topo I) and II (Topo II), glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs), tissue transglutaminase (t-TG), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and E-cadherin and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in PC-14 and PC-14/ADM cells. There was no change in the cellular levels of P-gp, Topo I, Topo II, and the two isoforms of GSTs. However, SOD activity in PC-14/ADM cells was 2.38 fold higher than that in PC-14 cells. A marked induction of the t-TG expression was also observed in PC-14/ADM cells. In addition to those changes, expressions of EGFR and E-cadherin were down regulated in PC-14/ADM cells. Therefore, molecular modifications such as an increase in SOD activity, induction of the t-TG expression, and down regulation of EGFR and E-cadherin expressions may play important roles in PC-14/ADM cells during the development of ADM resistance.
It is well known that nonlinear propagation characteristics of the wave in the tissue may give very useful information for the medical diagnoisis. In this paper, a new method to detect nonlinear propa gation characteristics of the internal vibration in the tissue for the low frequency mechanical vibra lion by using bispectral analysis is proposed. In the method, low frequency vibration of $f_0(=100Hz)$ is applied on the surface of the object, and the waveform of the internal vibration ${\times}{\;}(t)$ is measured from Doppler frequency modulation of silmultaneously transmitted probing ultrasonic waves. Then, the bispectra of the signal ${\times}{\;}(t.)$ at the frequencies ($f_0,{\;}f_0$) and ($f_0,{\;}2f_0$) are calculated to estimate the nonlinear propagation characteristics as their magnitude ratio, where since bispectrum is free from the gallssian additive noise we can get the value with high S/N. Basic experimental system is con structed by using 3.0 MHz probing ultrasonic waves and the several experiments are carried out for some phantoms. Results show the superiority of the proposed method to the conventional method using power spectrum and also its usefulness for the tissue characterization.
In this paper, the temperature dependence of tissue is estimated by measuring the attenuation coefficient and the propagation velocity of ultrasonic reflection signal. And, on the basis of expeiments, the possibility of non- invasive temperature estimation is considered. Specimens in the experiment are acryl 1)late. muscle, fat and liver of pig. The temperature of specimen is controlled by water bath which is able to adjust temperature a quarter of a degree. Through the series of experiments, we conformed that the ultrasonic parameters have lin earity to a certain extents with the change of tissue's temperature. And we expect that noninvasive temperature estimation of tissue can be realized after several preconditions be satisfied with the standard experiment conditions and a great number of base data.

Aim : Several injectable materials have been used in the application of osteogenic bone substitute; however, nothing has won universal acceptance. This study was performed to investigate whether chitosan-alginate gel/MSCs/BMP-2 composites are potentially injectable materials for new bone formation. Material and Methods : The composites were injected into the subcutaneous space on the dorsum of the nude mouse to investigate whether new bone would be tissue engineered in the mouse. The composites were examined histologically over a 12-week period. Results : The composites implanted in the mouse were able to tissue engineer new bone, and the newly formed bone consisted of trabecular bone and calcified bone matrix. Conclusions : The present study shows that chitosan-alginate gel/MSCs/BMP-2 composites have the potential to become real injectable materials for new bone formation.
