Objectives : This study is to find out clinical characteristics of patients with Tinnitus and Vertigo. Methods : 28 patients were recruited in this study who were ill with tinnitus accompanied vertigo. They told me the aspects of tinnitus and wrote out the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(THI). Also, they were divided into central and peripheral vertigo. Through symptoms of tinnitus and vertigo, the discrimination of Heo-sil(虛實) was based on the specific aspect of tinnitus along with Zhuang fu bian zheng(臟腑辨證). Results : In tinnitus, high-narrow tone group is more than low-wide tone group and the rate of Heo symptom(虛證) group is higher than Sil symptom(實證) group. In vertigo, the rate of peripheral group is higher than central group. Conclusions : It is expected that this survey will help patients with both tinnitus and vertigo in their treatment progress and prognostic judgment.

Tinnitus is a symptom frequently encountered in the E.N.T. clinic and variously described as buzzing, ringing and thumping sound, etc., but the cause, pathogenesis, specific treatment remains to be established through close investigation. In fact, it is not easy to evaluate the treatment efficiency of tinnitus reasonably. However, in this study. we clinically investigated 47 patients who visited E.N.T. department of Kyung Won University Hospital from May. 1996 to May. 1999 and belonged to specific bianzheng(辨證) types of tinnitus classified by bianzheng(辨證), a kind of diagnostic method in order to estimate efficiency of the treatment and give aids to establishing more effective and recognizable treatment method. The result is as follows: 1) In bianzheng(辨證) types of tinnitus, Piweixuruo(脾胃虛弱) was most frequently found, in descending order, Shenjingkuisun(腎精虧損), Ganhuoshangra(肝火上擾), Tanhuoyongjie(痰火壅結). 2) In the treatment efficiency, the type of Piweixuruo(脾胃虛弱) showed the highest, in descending order, Ganhuoshangrao(肝火上擾), Tanhuoyongjie(痰火壅結) and Shenjingkuisun(腎精虧損). 3) The treatment efficiency is shown higher in patients with tinnitus included in other sysmptoms than those with a simple symptom of tinnitus. especially in case of tinnitus accompanied by vertigo, we could get much higher treatment efficiency more than we had expected.

Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is a rare syndrome which causes postural headache associated with low cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure, without preceding events such as lumbar puncture, back trauma, operative procedure or illness. The headche is usually accompanied by nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, neck stiffness, vertigo, photophobia and in rare cases diplopia, transient visual obscuration. Brain MRI may show subdural effusion, downward displacement of brain and diffuse and continuous meningeal enhancement when enhanced by gadolinium. Low opening pressure was shown through lumbar puncture. The value of protein and cell count of CSF may be slightly elevated. This syndrome usually resolves itself spontaneously or with strict bed rest. When the headache is persistent or incapacitating, more aggressive treatment may be necessary. We treated two cases of SIH in which epidural blood patch produced immediate and complete relief of the symptoms.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report 20 patients who have been diagnosed with sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL) in the Korean medical hospital for last 3 years. Methods : 20 patients who have been hospitalized with a SSNHL in Korean medical hospital from June 2014 to June 2017 were analyzed by reviewing the patients' charts. Results : In the study group, Pure tone audiometry was performed in 17 patients. 3 of them showed 'Marked improvement' in pure tone audiometry. And 6 of them showed 'Slight Improvement.' On the other hand, 9 of them showed 'No response' or even got worse. However, the symptoms accompanied with hearing loss like tinnitus, aural fullness, vertigo improved most of patients. Conclusions : This study shows that the Korean medical treatment is effective in the SSNHL.
