Inmarsat Mini-m 시스템의 하향 링크 수신기를 위한 Timing Recovery 루프 설계 (Design of a Timing Recovery Loop for Inmarsat Mini-m System Downlink Receiver)

  • 본 논문에서는 Inmarsat (International Marine Satellite) mini-m 시스템의 하향 링크 수신기를 위한 timing recovery 루프를 제안한다. Inmarsat mini-m 시스템 규격에서 요구하는 frequency tolerance는 ${\pm}924$ Hz (signal bandwidth: 2.4 kHz) 이며, timing acquisition 시간은 하나의 UW (Unique Word) 신호 구간인 15ms 이기 때문에 주파수 옵셋에 강인하고 UW 신호 구간에서의 빠른 aquisition 이 가능한 루프 설계가 요구된다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 주파수 옵셋에 강인하고 빠른 aquisition 이 가능한 timing recovery 루프를 제안하였으며, 제안된 timing recovery 루프는 UW detector와 UW detector에 의해 검출된 UW 신호를 이용한 timing recovery 루프를 연동한 구조이다. UW detector는 주파수 옵셋 환경에서 안정적인 성능을 위해 차동 기반의 noncoherent detector 방식을 적용하였으며, TED (Timing Error Detector) 알고리즘은 기존의 GAD (Gardner Detector) 알고리즘 대신 본 논문에서 제안하는 UW 신호를 이용한 차동 기반의 ELD (Early Late Detector) 알고리즘 적용하였다. 제안된 방식과 기존의 GAD와의 성능 비교를 통해 제안된 방식이 만족스러운 성능과 신뢰성 있는 동작이 가능함을 입증하였다.

  • For detection of digitally modulated signals, the receiver must be provide with accurate carrier phase and symbol timing estimates. So far, tots of algorithms have been suggested for those purposes. In general, a interpolation filter with TED(Timing Error Detection) like Gardner algorithm is popularly used for symbol timing estimate of digital communication receiver. Apart from the performance point of view, a multiplicative operation of any interpolation filter limits the symbol rate of the system. Hence, we suggest a new symbol timing estimate algorithm for high speed burst-mode fixed wireless communication system and analyze its performance in the AWGN channel.

SCV 가솔린 엔진의 운전조건에 따른 희박연소 특성 (Lean Combustion Characteristics in a S.I Engine with SCV by Operating Conditions)

  • Lean combustion in a SI engine is one of the best solution for the improvement of fuel economy and reduction of pollutant emission. In order to access a lean combustion engine, stable combustion at lean AlF ratio is needed. In this paper, the effect of fuel injection timing on lean misfire limit has been investigated in an MPI engine. To investigate the interaction of injection timing and intake flow characteristics, three different swirl generating SCV(swirl control valve) configurations were considered, and investigated their effects on lean misfire limit and torque at full load operation. Also the effects of spark timing on lean combustion has been investigated. Lean combustion has been examined and the results are reported in this paper. SCV B has been developed to satisfy the requirements of sufficient swirl generation to improve lean combustion and stable performance. It is found that injection timing, spark timing and intake air motion govern the stable lean combustion.

A Maritime DGPS Reference Station Configuration Proposal for Operation Improvement

  • A maritime Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) reference station broadcasts correction information to users having a DGPS receiver so that the navigation performance can be improved. A maritime DGPS reference station consists of a reference station (RS) that generates and broadcasts correction information, an integrity monitor (IM) that monitors the integrity of correction information, and a control station (CS) that controls them. A maritime DGPS reference station is continuously operated for 24 hours, and thus improvement in the ease of operation is a major element that can improve the performance of the system. In this study, a configuration of a maritime DGPS reference station that can improve the ease of operation and a relevant protocol were proposed, and an example of the implementation of the proposed system was presented.

디젤기관에서 바이오디젤 혼합유의 연소특성에 미치는 연료분사시기의 영향 (Effects of Fuel Injection Timing on Combustion Characteristics of Biodiesel Blend Oil in Diesel Engine)

  • Recently we have a growing interest in environmental pollution and alternative energy. Diesel engine is generally used to produce the power on the ground and the sea. However, the combustion characteristics are changed on account of the wear of fuel system and the altered ambient condition of the combustion chamber by the increment of the engine operation hour. Therefore combustion characteristics on fuel injection timing are experimentally investigated to find out the optimum fuel injection timing in the case of the aged diesel engine using biodiesel blend oil. Cylinder pressure, rate of pressure rise, rate of heat release and combustion gas temperature are risen by the advancing fuel injection timing, while the exhaust gas temperature and soot emission level are decreased by the advancing of fuel injection timing. The least specific fuel oil consumption is indicated at BTDC $26^{\circ}$ CA on the 75%load and at 1800rpm.

  • This paper describes an investigation of the performance and emission characteristics of a commercial cylinder direct injection diesel engine operating on natural gas with pilot diesel ignition. Engine tests for variations in the pilot injection timing were performed at an engine speed of 1500 rpm. This study showed that the performance of the dual-fuel diesel engine increased as the engine load increased and as the pilot diesel injection timing angle advanced. The peaks of cylinder pressure, pressure rise rate, and heat release rate all increased while the fuel ignition timing advanced with the pilot injection timing. The engine operation was stable, and the least smoke was produced at a pilot injection timing of $12^{\circ}$ before top dead center. NOx emissions were only exhausted under high-load conditions, and they increased as the pilot injection timing angle advanced.

대형 CNG기관의 직접분사화에 의한 희박한계확장 (A study on expansion of lean burn limit with direct injection of the heavy-duty CNG engine)

  • Lean combustion is one of the most promising method for increasing engine efficiency and reducing the exhaust emission from SI gas engines. Due to the possibility of partial burn and misfire, however, under lean burn operation, stable flame kernel formation and fast burn rate are needed to guarantee a successful subsequent combustion. Experiment data were obtained on a single-cylinder CNG fueled SI engine to investigate the effect of direct injection, spark timing and variation of injection timing. Experimental results show that lean burn limit is ${\lambda}$=1.3 with port injection, and expansion of lean burn limit ${\lambda}$=1.4 with direct injection method, due to increase of turbulence intensity in cylinder and stratified charge. Combustion duration in lean region is improved by using the variation of injection timing.

  • 하드웨어는 다양한 구조로 개발되고, 모듈들에 대한 시간 시뮬레이션을 할 때 각 클럭 사이클에 사용되는 변수들의 값을 확인할 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 224비트 ECDSA 하드웨어를 개발하면서 하드웨어 모듈의 시간 시뮬레이션을 위한 테스트 벡터를 제공하는 소프트웨어 생성기를 소개한다. 테스트 벡터는 GUI 형태와 텍스트 파일 형태로 제공된다.

  • 분무유도식 DISI엔진의 성층연소운전조건에서 분무 및 화염특성에 대한 실험적 연구가 수행되었다. 연소가시화를 통하여 성층연소 DISI의 연소는 희박 예혼합 연소와 확산연소의 성격을 모두 가지고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 분사시기에 따른 혼합기 형성특성이 연소의 특성을 결정하는 중요한 인자임을 관찰하였다. 분무와 혼합기 가시화를 통해 낮은 분위기압에서의 over-mixing, 높은 분위기압에서의 under-mixing이 발생하는 것을 확인하였으며 이러한 혼합기 형성과정의 결과에 따라 화염특성, 연소효율 등의 연소특성이 결정되는 것을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 또한, NOx, IMEP도 분사시기에 따른 경향성을 보였으며, 분사시기에 따른 연소상의 변화에 의한 영향임을 확인하였다.

  • For optimizing the performance of SI engine such as engine torque, fuel consumption, and emissions, systems for variable valve timing were developed by many automotive researchers. In this work, we investigated the relationship between valve timing and intake orifice noise to improve the NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) performance as well as engine torque and power. Two approaches are conducted, which are engine dynamometer testing and 1-D simulation analysis. Experimental data were measured on about 21 different operating conditions. This experiment shows that the intake and exhaust valve timing related to overlap period influence on the NVH performance, especially intake orifice noise of engine at given range of operation conditions. Similar results are achieved by using 1-D simulation analysis. It is concluded that the optimal strategies of controlling valve timing and tuning intake systems, are necessary to develop engines or vehicles with good sound quality.
