  • In this paper, we propose a channel estimation method associated with the interpolation order for OFDM systems. We first analyze the time varying channel and frequency selective channels, and then derive the channel index which indicates the ratio of the time axis variation and the frequency axis variation. This index is used for determining the order of interpolation such as time axis followed by frequency axis interpolation or vice versa. The computer simulation over a DVB-T system shows that the proposed method can provide more accurate channel information, thereby improving the overall performance.

  • We introduce a new space-time signal processing scheme that uses both transmitter diversity technique and transmitter beamforming technique for code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Over complex Gaussian Rayleigh channel, the introduced scheme achieves the diveristy gain through the transmitter diversity technique. and the SNR gain by th transmitter beamforming technique. Bit error rate (BER) analyses are given to each of the three cases in which the transmitter diversity scheme, the transmitter beamforming scheme and the introduced scheme are used, in the slowly varying Rayleigh frequency nonselective fading channel. The Monte-Carlo simulation results are shown to match to the analytic results. When the channels between distant antennas are independent, analytic results show that the introduced scheme achieves the lowest $E_{b/}$ $N_{0}$ at target BER 10$^{-6}$ . When the channels between distant antennas are correlated, analytic and simulation results show that the introduced scheme is more robust to the change of channel correlation.n.

  • The third generation mobile communications system requiring the reliable multimedia data transmission has provided with the reliable voice, data and video services over the variable propagation environment. However the broadband wireless multiple access technologies cause Inter Symbol Interference(ISI) or Multiple Access Interference(MAI) to degrade the performance of CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) system. Constant Modulus Algorithm which is frequently used as the adaptive blind equalizers to remove the interfering signal has ill-convergence phenomenon without proper initialization. In this paper, new blind equalization method based on conventional CMA is proposed to improve the channel efficiency, and through computer simulation this is tested over the time varying fading environment of mobile communication system. consequently, new blind equalization method into concatenated Kalman filter with CMA is verified better than conventional CMA through adopting minimum mean square errors and eye- pattern obtained from algorithm are compared.

  • Channel-based radio-frequency fingerprinting such as a channel impulse response (CIR), channel transfer function (CTF), and frequency coherence function (FCF) have been recently proposed to improve the accuracy at the physical layer; however, their empirical performance, advantages, and limitations have not been well reported. This paper provides a comprehensive empirical performance evaluation of RF location fingerprinting, focusing on a comparison of received-signal strength, CIR-, CTF-, and FCF-based fingerprinting using the weighted k-nearest neighbor pattern recognition technique. Frequency domain channel measurements in the IEEE 802.11 band taken on a university campus were used to evaluate the accuracy of the fingerprinting types and their robustness to human-induced motion perturbations of the channel. The localization performance was analyzed, and the results are described using the spatial and temporal radio propagation characteristics. In particular, we introduce the coherence region to explain the spatial properties and investigate the impact of the Doppler spread in time-varying channels on the time coherence of RF fingerprint structures.

  • We investigate the channel state information (CSI) in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) cooperative networks that employ the amplify-and-forward transmission scheme. Least squares and expectation conditional maximization have been proposed in the system. However, neither of these two approaches takes advantage of channel sparsity, and they cause estimation performance loss. Unlike linear channel estimation methods, several compressed channel estimation methods are proposed in this study to exploit the sparsity of the MIMO cooperative channels based on the theory of compressed sensing. First, the channel estimation problem is formulated as a compressed sensing problem by using sparse decomposition theory. Second, the lower bound is derived for the estimation, and the MIMO relay channel is reconstructed via compressive sampling matching pursuit algorithms. Finally, based on this model, we propose a novel algorithm so called sparsity adaptive expectation maximization (SAEM) by using Kalman filter and expectation maximization algorithm so that it can exploit channel sparsity alternatively and also track the true support set of time-varying channel. Kalman filter is used to provide soft information of transmitted signals to the EM-based algorithm. Various numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed sparse channel estimation technique outperforms the previous estimation schemes.

  • This paper proposes symbol decoding schemes combined with channel estimation techniques for coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (COFDM) systems in fading channels. sThe proposed symbol decoding schemes are consisted of a symbol decoding technique and channel estimation techniques. The symbol decoding based on Viterbi algorithm is achieved by matching the length of branch word from encoder trellis to the codeword length of symbol candidate on decoder trellis. Three combination schemes are described and their error performances are compared. The first scheme is to combine a symbol decoding technique with a training channel estimation technique. The second scheme joins a decision directed channel estimation technique to the first scheme. The time varying channel transfer functions are tracked by the decision directed channel estimation technique and the channel transfer functions used in the symbol decoder are updated every COFDM symbol. Finally, In order to reduce the effect of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) between adjacent subchannels, deinterleaved average channel estimation technique is combined. The error performances of the three schemes are significantly improved being compared with that of zero forcing equalizing schemes.

  • In this paper, we compare the existing channel estimation technique for 4S (Ship to Ship, Ship to Shore) maritime communications under AWGN channel model, Rician fading channel model, and Rayleigh fading channel model respectively. In general, the received signal is corrupted by multipath and ISI (Inter Symbol Interference). The estimation of a time-varying multipath fading channel is a difficult task for the receiver. Its performance can be improved if an appropriate channel estimation filter is used. The simulation is performed in MATLAB. In this simulation, we use the popular estimation algorithms, LMS (Least Mean Square) and RLS (Recursive Least-Squares) are compared with respect to AWGN, Rician and Rayleigh channels.

  • As the recently soaring wireless traffic, small-cell techniques have been actively studied in order to support such a wireless demand for cellular wireless networks. This paper focuses on the inter-cell interference neutralization to resolve the main barrier for implementing small-cell cellular networks. Assuming that each message is delivered to the final destination by the help of base stations or relays, ergodic interference neutralization is proposed, which exploits the time-varying nature of wireless channels. The previous approach based on amplify-and-forward (AF) suffers from severe performance degradation in the low signal-to-noise (SNR) regime due to noise amplification. On the other hand, the proposed interference neutralization based on recently developed compute-and-forward (CF) fixes such a problem and improves the performance in the low SNR regime.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of designing multirate codes for a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system by restricting the receiver to be a successive decoding and interference cancellation type, when each of the antennas is encoded independently. Furthermore, it is assumed that the receiver knows the instantaneous fading channel states but the transmitter does not have access to them. It is well known that, in theory, minimummean- square error (MMSE) based successive decoding of multiple access (in multi-user communications) and MIMO channels achieves the total channel capacity. However, for this scheme to perform optimally, the optimal rates of each antenna (per-antenna rates) must be known at the transmitter. We show that the optimal per-antenna rates at the transmitter can be estimated using only the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channel in time-varying Rayleigh MIMO channel environments. Based on the results, multirate codes are designed using punctured turbo codes for a horizontal codedMIMOsystem. Simulation results show performances within about one to two dBs of MIMO channel capacity.

  • Nanostructured copper compounds were grown by electrochemical anodization of copper foil in aqueous NaOH under varying conditions including electrolyte concentration, reaction temperature, current density, and reaction time. Their morphology and atomic composition were investigated by using SEM, TEM, XRD, EDS and XPS. At the conditions ([NaOH] = 1 M, $20^{\circ}C$, $2\;mA\;cm^{-2}$), wire-like orthorhombic $Cu(OH)_2$ nanobundles with an average width of 100 - 300 nm and length of $10\;{\mu}m$ were synthesized with the preferential [100] growth direction. Furthermore, when the concentration decreased to 0.5 M NaOH, the 1D nanobundle structure became narrower and longer without any change in compositions or crystalline structure. Side reaction pathways appeared to compete with the 1D nanostructure formation channels: the formation of CuO nanoleaves at $50^{\circ}C$ via the sequential dehydration of $Cu(OH)_2$, CuO/$Cu_2O$ aggregates in 4 M NaOH, and $Cu_2O$ nanoparticles and CuO nanosheets at lower current density.
