In the era of big data, the field of artificial intelligence is showing remarkable growth, and in particular, the image classification learning methods by deep learning are becoming an important area. Various studies have been actively conducted to further improve the performance of CNNs, which have been widely used in image classification, among which a representative method is the Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network (CRNN) algorithm. The CRNN algorithm consists of a combination of CNN for image classification and RNNs for recognizing time series elements. However, since the inputs used in the RNN area of CRNN are the flatten values extracted by applying the convolution and pooling technique to the image, pixel values in the same phase in the image appear in different order. And this makes it difficult to properly learn the sequence of arrangements in the image intended by the RNN. Therefore, this study aims to improve image classification performance by proposing a novel hybrid method of CNN and RNN applying the concepts of encoder and decoder. In this study, the effectiveness of the new hybrid method was verified through various experiments. This study has academic implications in that it broadens the applicability of encoder and decoder concepts, and the proposed method has advantages in terms of model learning time and infrastructure construction costs as it does not significantly increase complexity compared to conventional hybrid methods. In addition, this study has practical implications in that it presents the possibility of improving the quality of services provided in various fields that require accurate image classification.

Group of genes controls the functioning of a cell by complex interactions. These interacting gene groups are called Gene Regulatory Networks (GRNs). Two previous data mining approaches, clustering and classification have been used to analyze gene expression data. While these mining tools are useful for determining membership of genes by homology, they don't identify the regulatory relationships among genes found in the same class of molecular actions. Furthermore, we need to understand the mechanism of how genes relate and how they regulate one another. In order to detect regulatory relationships among genes from time-series Microarray data, we propose a novel approach using frequent pattern mining and chain rule. In this approach, we propose a method for transforming gene expression data to make suitable for frequent pattern mining, and detect gene expression patterns applying FP-growth algorithm. And then, we construct gene regulatory network from frequent gene patterns using chain rule. Finally, we validated our proposed method by showing that our experimental results are consistent with published results.

In this work, we developed an equipment for automatic quality control of fuel pump motor using vibration analysis. The equipment automatically performs a series of tasks such as aligning and conveying the motor, attachment/detachment of an accelerometer, data acquisition, vibration analysis, and classification, etc. Compared to previous manual operations, the developed system is able to provide considerable savings in both time and cost.
This study explores the temporal and spatial features near 67years (1934 ?2001) and landcover change in last 14 years (1987-2001) in Shijiazhuang, China, based on 67-year time series data edited from historical maps, TM and ETM+ imageries by integrating GIS and remote sensing method. An index named Annual Growth Rate (AGR) is used to analyze the spatial features of urban sprawl, and Maximum Likelihood classification method is utilized to detect the land cover types change. At last, the relationship between urbanization and factors is analyzed.

For safe last-mile autonomous robot delivery services in complex environments, rapid and accurate collision prediction and detection is vital. This study proposes a suitable neural network model that relies on multiple navigation sensors. A light detection and ranging technique is used to measure the relative distances to potential collision obstacles along the robot's path of motion, and an accelerometer is used to detect impacts. The proposed method tightly couples relative distance and acceleration time-series data in a complementary fashion to minimize errors. A long short-term memory, fully connected layer, and SoftMax function are integrated to train and classify the rapidly changing collision countermeasure state during robot motion. Simulation results show that the proposed method effectively performs collision prediction and detection for various obstacles.

This study analyzes the change in land-cover based on satellite imagery to draw up land-cover map in the future, and estimates the change in land category using statistical data of the land category. To estimate land category, this study applied the double exponentially smoothing method. The result of the land cover classification according to year using satellite imagery showed that the type with the largest increase in area of land cover change in the cities of Cheonan and Asan was artificial structure, followed by water, grass field and bare land. However forest, paddy, marsh and dry field were reduced. Further, the result of the time-series analysis of the land category was found to be similar to the result of the land cover classification using satellite imagery. Especially, the result of the estimation of the land category change using the double exponentially smoothing method showed that paddy, dry field, forest and marsh are anticipated to consistently decrease in area from 2010 to 2100, whereas artificial structure, water, bare land and grass field are anticipated to consistently increase. Such results can be utilized as basic data to estimate the change in land cover according to climate change in order to prepare climate change response strategies.

Among cardiac diseases, arrhythmias can lead to serious complications such as stroke, heart attack, and heart failure if left untreated, so continuous and accurate ECG monitoring is crucial for clinical care. However, the accurate interpretation of electrocardiogram (ECG) data is entirely dependent on medical doctors, which requires additional time and cost. Therefore, this paper proposes an arrhythmia recognition module for the purpose of developing a medical platform through the analysis of abnormal pulse waveforms based on Lifelogs. The proposed method is to convert ECG data into image format instead of time series data, apply visual pattern recognition technology, and then detect arrhythmia using CNN model. In order to validate the arrhythmia classification of the CNN model by image type conversion of ECG data proposed in this paper, the MIT-BIH arrhythmia dataset was used, and the result showed an accuracy of 97%.

In the 4th industrial revolution, changes in the technological paradigm have had a direct impact on the maintenance system of ships. The 2-stroke low speed engine system integrates with the core equipment required for propulsive power. The Condition Based Management (CBM) is defined as a technology that predictive maintenance methods in existing calender-based or running time based maintenance systems by monitoring the condition of machinery and diagnosis/prognosis failures. In this study, we have established a framework for CBM technology development on our own, and are engaged in engineering-based failure analysis, data development and management, data feature analysis and pre-processing, and verified the reliability of failure mode DB using LSTM algorithms. We developed various simulated failure mode scenarios for 2-stroke low speed engine and researched to produce data on onshore basis test_beds. The analysis and pre-processing of normal and abnormal status data acquired through failure mode simulation experiment used various Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) techniques to feature extract not only data on the performance and efficiency of 2-stroke low speed engine but also key feature data using multivariate statistical analysis. In addition, by developing an LSTM classification algorithm, we tried to verify the reliability of various failure mode data with time-series characteristics.
