Dynamic aeroelastic behavior of structurally nonlinear Joined Wings is presented. Three configurations, two characterized by a different location of the joint and one presenting a direct connection between the two wings (SensorCraft-like layout) are investigated. The snap-divergence is studied from a dynamic perspective in order to assess the real response of the configuration. The investigations also focus on the flutter occurrence (critical state) and postcritical phenomena. Limit Cycle Oscillations (LCOs) are observed, possibly followed by a loss of periodicity of the solution as speed is further increased. In some cases, it is also possible to ascertain the presence of period doubling (flip-) bifurcations. Differences between flutter (Hopf's bifurcation) speed evaluated with linear and nonlinear analyses are discussed in depth in order to understand if a linear (and thus computationally less intense) representation provides an acceptable estimate of the instability properties. Both frequency- and time-domain approaches are compared. Moreover, aerodynamic solvers based on the potential flow are critically examined. In particular, it is assessed in what measure more sophisticated aerodynamic and interface models impact the aeroelastic predictions. When the use of the tools gives different results, a physical interpretation of the leading mechanism generating the mismatch is provided. In particular, for PrandtlPlane-like configurations the aeroelastic response is very sensitive to the wake's shape. As a consequence, it is suggested that a more sophisticate modeling of the wake positively impacts the reliability of aerodynamic and aeroelastic analysis. For SensorCraft-like configurations some LCOs are characterized by a non-synchronous motion of the inner and outer portion of the lower wing: the wing's tip exhibits a small oscillation during the descending or ascending phase, whereas the mid-span station describes a sinusoidal-like trajectory in the time-domain.

The modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) and inverse MDCT (IMDCT) are employed in subband/transform coding schemes as the analysis/synthesis filter bank based on time domain aliasing cancellation (TDAC). And the MDCT and IMDCT are the most computational intensive operations in layer III of the MPEG audio coding standard. In this paper, we propose a new efficient algorithm for the MDCT/IMDCT computation in various audio coding systems. It is based on the MDCT/IMDCT computation algorithm using the discrete cosine transforms (DCTs), and It employs two discrete cosine transform of type II (DCT-II) to compute the MDCT/IMDCT In addition, it takes advantage of ability in calculating the MDCT/IMDCT computation, where the length of a data block Is divisible by 4. The Proposed algorithm in this paper requires less calculation complexity than the existing method does. Also, it can be implemented by the parallel structure, therefore its structure is particularly suitable for VLSI realization

In this paper, an analysis for a new substrate shielding symmetric coupled MIS structure consisting of grounded crossbar at the interface between Si and SiO2 layer using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain(FDTD) method is presented. In order to reduce the substrate effects on the transmission line characteristics, a shielding structure consisting of grounded crossbar lines over time-domain signal has been examined. Parameters of symmetric coupled MIS transmission line with various gaps between crossbars for even- and odd-mode are investigated as the functions of frequency, and the extracted distributed frequency-dependent transmission line parameters and corresponding equivalent circuit parameters as well as quality factor for the new MIS crossbar embedded structure are also presented. It is shown that the quality factor of the symmetric coupled transmission line can be improved without significant change in the characteristic impedance and effective dielectric constant.

In this paper, daily life stress monitoring system is proposed. The proposed wireless ECG module, reducing the noise and increasing the size of signal, amplification circuit was designed for. Using HRV(Heart Rate Variability), extracted by measuring R-wave, stress diagnostic algorithms to assess the stress of human emotion were developed. For monitoring the activities, the proposed system is consist of small rectangular size for portable and by simple measurement it is possible to measure at any time. Through experiments, the proposed approach to represent user's stress level can be confirmed. Through that, it can see appropriate structure to obtain R-wave for stress assess as well as high resemblance to the clinical electrocardiogram. In this paper, performed experiments was developed nonrestraint measuring and wearable wireless biometric scanner that is able to monitor the heart's electrical activity of everyday life.Using this, the algorithm system, that is able to assess stress index through time-domain and frequency-domain analysis of the front and the rear of performing stress load protocol, was developed,
Electromagnetic(EM) survey has been in use for over a half century as a standard routine for, mineral exploration in many parts of the world. But EM survey work and serious research effort were initiated in Korea only as late as in early 1980s, largely inspired by four pioneers who did their graduate studies in the U.S.A. in 1970s. Nevertheless domestic achievements in the field of EM survey are remarkable in the last two decades: the field operations and related interpretational skills appear to have reached a global standard, even compared with the most advanced in other countries, virtually in a whole spectrum of the method which includes magneto-tellurics(MT), Controlled Source Audio-frequency Magneto-tellurics(CSAMT), geomagnetic sounding, small loop survey systems, Very Low Frequency(VLF), Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR), time domain surveys, and noise analysis. Besides mineral exploration, EM survey has been applied in Korea to hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, non-destructive investigation of structures, unexplored ordnance(UXO) investigation, environmental monitoring, and archaeological investigation as well. Now that original contributions of several Korean geophysicists are found even in new frontiers such as high-frequency EM survey, investigation in time-domain EM field for buried metal objects and structures, and also modem data inversion scheme, it is duly hoped that they make some technical breakthrough to unravel still entangled knots of EM survey method in a forseeable future.

We propose a dispersive finite-difference time domain(FDTD) algorithm suitable for the electromagnetic analysis of the human body. In this work, the dispersion relation of the human body is modeled by a quadratic complex rational function(QCRF), which leads to an accurate and efficient FDTD algorithm. Coefficients(involved in QCRF) for various human tissues are extracted by applying a weighted least square method(WLSM), referred to as the complex-curve fitting technique. We also presents the FDTD formulation for the QCRF-based dispersive model in detail. The QCRFbased dispersive model is significantly accurate and its FDTD implementation is more efficient than the counterpart of the Cole-Cole model. Numerical examples are used to show the validity of the proposed FDTD algorithm.

In this paper, we introduce the technologies to handle the interference in the heterogeneous network and evaluate the performance of enhanced Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (enhanced ICIC, eICIC) techniques that are being introduced in 3GPP Release 10. In the time-domain eICIC scheme, time-domain resources are scheduled to avoid the interference by using Almost Blank Subframe (ABS) and Cell Range Expansion (CRE). To mitigate the cross-tier interference between macro and femtocell, it is important to efficiently combine the ABS and CRE in heterogeneous network. Since it is hard to evaluate the total throughput of heterogeneous network numerically, we evaluate the total throughput by using system level simulation (SLS). As a result of evaluation, the throughputs of many different cases of combination of ABS and CRE are compared.
Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) with multiplex system has been installed to configure the spatial and temporal characteristics of soil moisture at the Bumreunsa hillslope of Sulmachun Watershed. An intensive surveying was performed to build a refined digital elevation model (DEM) and flow determination algorithms with inverse surveying have been applied to establish an efficient soil moisture monitoring system. Soil moisture data were collected through intensive monitoring during 380 hrs in November of 2003. Soil moisture data shows corresponding variation characteristics of soil moisture on the upper, middle and lower parts of the hillslope which were classified from terrain analysis. Measured soil moisture data have been discussed on the context of physical process of hydrological modeling.

Water flow in unsaturated soils is affected by two mathematical equations called soil water-characteristic curve and permeability-suction relationship. Soil water-characteristic curve is an equation showing volumetric water content-suction relationship. Many researchers have presented equations for the relationships. This paper illustrates the importance of correctly determining the two relationships when analyzing unsaturated water flows. Results from two methods, Gardner (1958) and Fredlund et al. (1994), are used for comparison purposes. Numerical simulations of water flow by finite element method are performed using the two methods. The results by the numerical simulations are compared with the field data which was obtained from time-domain reflectometry (TDR) probes in Delaware County, Ohio. This data was obtained by the Seasonal Instrumentation Program which is included as a part of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP).

The specific absorption rate (SAR) distributions in various models of the human head have been analyzed when the models are exposed to 350 MHz and 900 MHz plane waves. The numerical analysis is performed with the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. A homogeneous sphere including a cylinderical neck, a homogeneous head shaped model, and a heterogeneous realistic model are used as models of human head. The incident plane wave used for these calculations is propagating from the front to the back or from the back to the front of the head model, with its E-field vector orientation being parallel to the major length of the body. The specific findings are: 1) the average SARs of the three models are similar mutually but the local SARs of them differ greatly mutually; 2) the power is deposed more deeply in the head at 350 MHz, which is roughly the resonant frequency of a human head, than at 900 MHz; 3) for a plane wave propagating from the back, "hot spot" is found in the neck region, not in the head; 4) for a plane wave propagating from the front, "hot spot" is found in the nose at 900 MHz, and in the upper part of the lip and the jaw region at 350 MHz.
