  • To increase the efficiency of an applicator during microwave hyperthermia therapy, first, the length from the antenna end to a slot is varied to get the optimal matching of the characteristic impedance at the frequency of 2.45 GHz. Using the electric and thermal constants of biological tissue, we compose a phantom to calculate temperature increment as well as the resonance characteristics and the SAR distributions. The proposed 3-slot sleeve antenna inserted in an applicator plays an effective role in increasing the therapy size in the view of heating performance as electromagnetic energy tends to concentrate on not feed point direction but treatment area. The SAR is then used in combination with a finite difference heat transfer equation to determine the temperature distribution. Also, in order to shorten treatment time and increase therapy size, a square-array structure is suggested and analyzed.

  • Microstrip antennas have many applications in wireless communication system. This paper propose a analytical far-field pattern of radiation for application of the wireless communication. The triangular slot antenna fed by micorstrip line is proposed at resonance frequency 10 GHz. The simulation results of the electromagnetic field radiation pattern, S parameter, characteristic of input impedance are obtain by using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The analytical space in FDTD analysis are $50{\times}171{\times}120$ cells with the cell dimension ${\Delta}x=0.152\;mm$, ${\Delta}y={\Delta}z=0.15\;mm$.

  • A preceding companion article introduced the slot jet approach for large-scale quasi-steady modelling of a downburst outflow. This article extends the approach to model the time-dependent features of the outflow. A two-dimensional slot jet with an actuated gate produces a gust with a dominant roll vortex. Two designs for the gate mechanism are investigated. Hot-wire anemometry velocity histories and profiles are presented. As well, a three-dimensional, subcloud numerical model is used to approximate the downdraft microphysics, and to compute stationary and translating outflows at high resolution. The evolution of the horizontal and vertical velocity components is examined. Comparison of the present experimental and numerical results with field observations is encouraging.

  • The Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) system is a contactless automatic identification system, which comprises readers and tags. In RFID systems, a reader collision occurs when there is interference in communication between one reader and the tags, due to the signals from other readers. The reader collision problem is considered as the fundamental problem affecting high density RFID reader installations. In this paper, we analyze the existing reader anti-collision algorithms. We also propose a pulse protocol-based reader anti-collision algorithm using slot occupied probability (SOP). The implementation of this improvement is simple, yet it effectively mitigates most reader collisions in dense reader mode, as shown in our simulation. That is, the proposed algorithm reduces the identification time, and increasesthe system throughput and system efficiency compared with the conventional reader anti-collision algorithms.

  • In this paper, design and performance evaluation of Tapered Slot Antenna for IR-UWB which propagates impulse radio is performed. TSA which has directional characteristic in UWB band should have low radiation loss and minimized impulse radiation distortion. In order to achieve these objectives, the paper designed wide band Impedance transformer and microstrip-slotline transit region structured TSA feeder line. By using the fabricated TSA, the radiation pattern was measured in the radio anechoic chamber. Pulse fidelity and distortion equation was induced to evaluate time domain characteristics according to the impulse radiation. Pulse fidelity of Impulse radiation show favorable results more than 93% within ${\pm}30^{\circ}$ beam width.

  • The design sensitivity analysis based on the finite element method is presented for the eddy current problem with a voltage source. Since, in this problem, the complex variable is used as the state variable, new approach to the sensitivity calculation for the complex variable system is required. Its result is applied to the design of the rotor slot shape of squirrel cage induction motor. As a analysis model, only one slot pitch of rotor is analyzed by using a Periodic boundary condition. The use of this minimal modelling method leads to much saving of calculation time. The design objective is to obtain the desired slip-torque characteristic. Because the shape of rotor slot has much influence on the slip torque characteristic, the design variables are taken on the interface shape between rotor core and rotor bar. The initial shape of rotor slot is the trapezoidal type with rounding corners. The obtained final shape is quite similar to the double squirrel cage type.

  • CDMA is the way that more than one users can share the time and frequency at the same time and connect with multiple access in mobile communication. Multiple Access is indispensible for mobile communication because the limited frequency is able to be used by many users in mobile communication. CDMA is also applied to home network, military, business and medical sectors. This paper, presents a users should share limited frequency resource. CDMA module implemented with 8-layer PCB which consists of the Slice-board circuit, keeping Radio frequency characteristics and a slot type connector.

  • A direct numerical simulation is performed to analyze the effects of a localized time-periodic blowing on a turbulent boundary layer flow at R $e_{+}$=300. Main emphasis is placed on the blowing frequency effect on near-wall turbulent flow structures at downstream. Wall-normal velocity on a spanwise slot is varied periodically at different frequencies (0.004$\leq$ $f^{+}$$\leq$0.080). The amplitude of periodic blowing is $A^{+}$=0.5 in wall nit, which corresponds to the value of $v_{rms}$ at $y^{+}$=15 without blowing. The frequency responses are scrutinized by examining the phase or time-averaged turbulent statistics. The optimal frequency ( $f^{+}$=0.03) is observed, where maximum increase in Reynolds shear stress, streamwise vorticity fluctuations and energy redistribution occurs. The phase-averaged stretching and tilting term are investigated to analyze the increase of streamwise vorticity fluctuations which are closely related to turbulent coherent structures. It is found that the difference between PB and SB at a high blowing frequencies is negligible.e.e.

  • LED-ID (Light Emitting Diode - Identification) is one of the key technologies for identification, data transmission, and illumination simultaneously. This is the new paradigm in the identification technology environment. There are many issues are still now challenging to achieve high performance in LED-ID system. Collision issue is one of them. Actually this is the most significant issue in all identification system. LED-ID system also suffers from collision problem. In our system, collision occurs when two or more readers transmit data to tag at the same time or vice versa. There are many anti-collision protocols to resolve this problem; such as: Slotted ALOHA, Basic Frame Slotted ALOHA, Query Tree, Tree Splitting, and Q-Algorithm etc. In this paper, we propose modified Q-Algorithm to resolve collision at tag. The proposed protocol is based on Q-Algorithm and used the information of arrived readers to a tag from neighbor. The information includes transmitting slot number of readers and the number of readers that can be arrived in next slot. Our proposed protocol can reduce the numbers of collision slot and the successful time to identify all readers. In this paper our simulation and theoretical results are presented.
