Software-based Performance Analysis of a Pseudolite Time Synchronization Method Depending on the Clock Source

  • A pseudolite is used as a GPS backup system, and is also used for the purpose of indoor navigation and correction information transmission. It is installed on the ground, and transmits signals that are similar to those of a GPS satellite. In addition, in recent years, studies on the improvement of positioning accuracy using the pseudorange measurement of a pseudolite have been performed. As for the effect of the time synchronization error between a pseudolite and a GPS satellite, a time synchronization error of 1 us generally induces a pseudorange error of 300 m; and to achieve meter-level positioning, ns-level time synchronization between a pseudolite and a GPS satellite is required. Therefore, for the operation of a pseudolite, a time synchronization algorithm between a GPS satellite and a pseudolite is essential. In this study, for the time synchronization of a pseudolite, "a pseudolite time synchronization method using the time source of UTC (KRIS)" and "a time synchronization method using a GPS timing receiver" were introduced; and the time synchronization performance depending on the pseudolite time source and reference time source was evaluated by designing a software-based pseudolite time synchronization performance evaluation simulation platform.

  • 본 논문에서는 의사위성과 GPS 위성 사이의 시각동기를 위한 세가지 동기 방안을 제안하고 시각동기 기법의 성능 분석에 필요한 의사위성 시각동기 오차요소에 대해 분석한다. 제시한 세가지 시각동기 방안으로는 의사위성 시각동기 스테이션 구축 방안, UTC(KRIS)의 시각정보원을 활용한 의사위성 시각동기 방안, GPS 시각용 수신기를 활용한 시각동기 방안이 있다. 또한 제안한 의사위성 시각동기 방안의 성능평가를 위한 시뮬레이션 구성을 위해 의사위성 시각동기 방안의 오차요소를 의사위성 및 기준 클럭의 오차, 전송선로에 의해 발생하는 오차, TIC에 의해 발생하는 오차, 클럭 동기 알고리즘에 의해 발생하는 오차로 구분하고 각 오차 요소를 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, We proposed an development method of application framework for using the precision time protocol(PTP) based on physical layer devices to synchronize clocks across a network with IEEE1588 capable devices. The algorithm was not designed as a complete solution across all conditions, but is intended to show the feasibility of such a for the PTP(Precision Time Protocol) based on time synchronization of heterogeneous network between devices that support in IEEE 1588 Standard application framework. With synchronization messages per second, the system was able to accurately synchronize across a single heavily loaded switch. we describes a method of synchronization that provides much more accurate synchronization in systems with larger networks. In this paper, using the IEEE 1588 PTP support for object-oriented modeling techniques through the 'application framework development Development(AFDM)' is proposed. The method described attempts to detect minimum delays, or precision packet probe and packet metrics. The method also takes advantage of the Tablet PC(Primary to Secondary) clock control mechanism to separately control clock rate and time corrections, minimizing overshoot or wild swings in the accuracy of the clock. We verifying the performance of PTP Systems through experiments that proposed method.

  • We propose a system time synchronization method between embedded Linux-based distributed control devices by using Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) communication and General Purpose Input Output (GPIO) device. The GPIO signal is used as the trigger signal for synchronization and the TCP communication is used to transfer the system time of master Linux, which serves as the reference clock, to slave Linux. Precise synchronization performance is achieved by measuring and compensating for the propagation delay of GPIO signal and the acquisition and setting latency of Linux system time. We build an experimental setup consisting of two embedded Linux systems, and perform extensive experiments to verify the performance of the proposed synchronization method.

Performance Evaluation of Synchronization Method for Reducing the Overall Synchronization Time in Digital Radio Mondiale Receivers

  • In this paper, we present a comparative performance evaluation of the sampling frequency synchronization method that eliminates the initial sampling frequency offset (SFO) to reduce the overall synchronization time in Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) receivers. To satisfy the advanced synchronization performance requirements of DRM receivers, we introduce the conventional DRM synchronization method (Method 1) and another method (Method 2), which does not perform the initial sampling frequency synchronization in the conventional synchronization method (both methods are mentioned later in this paper). To demonstrate the effectiveness of the performance evaluation, analytical expressions for frame detection are derived and simulations are provided. Based on the simulations and numerical analysis, our result shows that Method 2, with a negligible performance loss, is robust to the effects of the initial sampling frequency synchronization even if SFO is present in the DRM signal. In addition, we verify that the inter-cell differential correlation used between reference cells is robust to the effect of the initial SFO.

정밀 시각동기를 이용한 TDoA 기반의 위치 탐지 (TDoA-Based Practical Localization Using Precision Time-Synchronization)

  • 신호수신장치들간 시각 동기화는 TDoA를 이용한 위치 탐지에 있어 가장 중요한 전제 사항이 된다. 본 논문에서는 시스템의 시각동기 정확도를 위하여 고정밀도의 OCXO와 DPLL을 이용하여 원자 클럭을 사용하는 GPS 위성으로부터 수신되는 1 pps(pulse per second) 신호에 위상동기 되는 방식을 제안한다. GPS 기반 고정밀 타이밍 레퍼런스의 성능은 근본적으로 매우 우수한 장기간에 걸친 주파수 안정도(long-term frequency stability)를 갖는 GPS 타이밍 신호의 특성을 따라간다고 볼 수 있으며, GPS 타이밍 신호에 동기가 되면 0.001 ppb(part per billion) 급의 초정밀 타이밍 레퍼런스를 통해 시각 동기의 정확도를 향상시킨다. 제안하는, 향상된 시각 동기 정확도를 통해 TDoA 기반의 위치 탐지 기술에서의 측정 오차를 평가하고, 시각동기 오차 개선 방법이 TDoA 기반의 위치 측정 오차를 크게 개선함을 보인다.

  • TPSN(Timing-sync Protocol for Sensor Networks), the representative of time synchronization protocol, has been already developed to provide time synchronization among nodes in wireless sensor networks. Even though the TPSN's method has been referenced by so many other time synchronization schemes for resource-constrained networks like wireless sensor networks or low power personal area networks, it has some inefficiency in terms of power consumption and network-wide synchronization time (or called convergence time). The main reason is that each node in TPSN needs waiting delay to solve the collision problem due to simultaneous transmission among competing nodes, which causes more power consumption and longer network convergence time for a network-wide synchronization. In this paper an improved scheme is proposed by changing message exchange method among nodes. The proposed scheme not only shortens network-wide synchronization time, but also reduce collision traffic which lead to needless power consumption. The proposed scheme's performance has been evaluated and compared with an original scheme by simulation. The results are shown to be better than the original algorithm used in TPSN.

실시간 멀티미디어 서비스용 동기 통신 프로토콜의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Synchronization Communication Protocols for Real-Time Multimedia Services)

  • In the real-time delivery of multimedia data streams over networks, the interruption of continuity in a single media stream and the mismatching of the data within the same time interval in multimedia data streams transfered in paralled on different channels are considered as the most serious synchronization problems. There are several mechanisms proposed to handle these problems. In this paper, these mechanisms are analyzed and compared in various point of view by the computer simulation. According to the simulation results, it has been shown that the method which uses the segmentation and the method which uses the seperate synchronization channel are superior to the method which uses the synchronization marks in view of the real-time transmission and quality of sevice. On the other hand, it can be seen that the method which uses the segmentation is superior to the method which uses the seperate synchronization channel from a channel utilization's point of view.

  • In this paper, we proposed that the synchronization method for build small world. In order to build a small world, we used Chua's oscillator which well represent the chaos dynamics and composed several stage with Chua's oscillator by using coupled synchronization method. This paper shows a synchronization result in the small world network using coupled synchronization method. Not only time series and phase plane are implemented but also degree of synchronization in the small world network is presented.

미디어 스트리밍을 위한 적응적 동기 지연시간을 이용한 그룹 동기화 기법 (Group Synchronization Method Using Adaptive Synchronization Delay Time for Media Streaming)

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일 스마트 기기들 간에 스트리밍 중인 미디어의 재생 위치를 동기화하기 위해서 재생 중인 미디어의 비트전송률에 따른 적응적인 지연시간을 적용하는 동기화 재생 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 미디어의 재생정보와 비트전송률에 따라 계산된 동기 지연시간을 클라이언트 기기들에게 전달하는 서버 측 동기화 알고리즘과 서버 기기로부터 전달받은 제어 정보를 이용하여 정밀한 재생 동기를 유지하는 클라이언트 측 동기화 알고리즘으로 구성된다. 동기화 재생 알고리즘은 네트워크 연결시간, 동기화 제어패킷 전송시간, 스트리밍 데이터 전송시간, 동기화 처리시간의 네 가지 지연시간을 반영한다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 동기화 재생 알고리즘을 적용한 Android 애플리케이션을 구현하고, 동기화 처리시간과 기기별 동기화 성능 및 그룹 동기화 성능을 평가한다. 성능 실험결과로 서버 기기와 클라이언트 기기들 간의 그룹 동기 재생위치 차이는 평균 39ms 미만으로 높은 정밀도의 성능을 보인다.
