Modern users demand that the on and off type solenoid actuator should be smaller, lighter in weight, lower in consumption power, and higher in response time. The complete design satisfying such requirements can be achieved when electromagnetic theories and empirical knowledge are combined. This paper presents various types of empirical coefficients essentially needed for optimal design of a solenoid actuator. The values of these empirical coefficients are obtained through extensive experiments over a great length of time for various kinds of solenoid actuators. We have developed a design program that is composed by combination of governing equations and empirical coefficients, and have also manufactured a prototype solenoid actuator based on the final results of the design program. The propriety of the design program and empirical coefficients have been proven by experiments.

ITO/TiO$_2$/Se solar cell were fabricated by vacuum deposition method, the Se and TiO$_2$were deposited on the ITO/Glass. Prior to the electrical properties of film, the provide Te between the ITO and the Se film were deposited by substrate temperature 20[$^{\circ}C$] and evaporation time 15[min], next time TiO$_2$ were treated by rf-magnetron sputtering in substrate temperature 250[$^{\circ}C$]. Fabricated ITO/TiO$_2$/Se solar cell were as follows : Open Voltage V$\_$oc/=848[mV], Short Circuit Current I$\_$sc/=10.79[mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$]. Fill Factor FF=0.518, energy conversion efficiency η=4.74[%] under the illumination of AM 1.
The impurity concentration is a crucial parameter for semiconductor thin films. Evaluating the impurity distribution in silicon thin film is another challenge. In this study, we have investigated the doping concentration of boron in silicon thin film using time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry in dynamic mode of operation. Boron doped silicon film was grown on i) p-type silicon wafer and ii) borosilicate glass using hot wire chemical vapor deposition technique for possible applications in optoelectronic devices. Using well-tuned SIMS measurement recipe, we have detected the boron counts 101~104 along with the silicon matrix element. The secondary ion beam sputtering area, sputtering duration and mass analyser analysing duration were used as key variables for the tuning of the recipe. The quantitative analysis of counts to concentration conversion was done following standard relative sensitivity factor. The concentration of boron in silicon was determined 1017~1021 atoms/㎤. The technique will be useful for evaluating distributions of various dopants (arsenic, phosphorous, bismuth etc.) in silicon thin film efficiently.
A fuel cell is an energy conversion device that converts a chemical energy directly into an electrical energy and has higher energy efficiency than an internal combustion engine, but solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) consisting of brittle ceramic material remains as a major issue regarding the mechanical properties as the crack formation and propagation. In this study, the stress distribution and crack behavior around the crack tip were evaluated, due to investigated the effects of the surface crack at the operating condition of high temperature. As a result, the difference of the generated stress was insignificant at operating conditions of high temperature according to the surface crack length changes. This is because, the high stiffness interconnect has a closed structure to suppress cell deformation about thermal expansion. The stress intensity factor ratio $K_{II}/K_I$ increased as the crack depth increased, at that time the effect of $K_{II}$ is larger than that of $K_I$. Also the maximum stress intensity factor increased as the crack depth increased, but the location of crack was generated at the electrolyte/anode interface, not at the crack tip.
In this study, indoor $PM_{10}$ concentration was measured by different type of real-time instruments in public transport vehicles. Light-scattering method is widely used in measuring the size of particulate matters and there is two types of light-scattering methods; one is the nephelometer type which measures the light-scattering degree by aerosol cloud, the other is the spectrometer type which measures light-scattering degree by individual particle. We observed the variation of $PM_{10}$ in KTX, subway and express bus carriages by 1-minute resolution and found that there is similar tendency in pattern among 4 light-scattering devices but difference in absolute concentrations. By comparing gravimetric result in a subway cabin, the spectrometer type device, C, was chosen as a reference device. The conversion factors of nephelometer device A-1, A-2, and B were 1.666, 1.463 and 2.125 respectively.
This paper proposes a mathematical model for converting conveyor assembly line to cellular manufacturing in complex production environments. Complex production environments refer to the situations with multi-products, variant demand, different batch sizes and the worker abilities varying with work stations and products respectively. The model proposed in this paper aims to determine (1) how many cells should be formatted; (2) how many workers should be assigned in each cell; (3) and how many workers should be rested in shortened conveyor line when a conveyor assembly line should be converted, in order to optimize system performances which are defined as the total throughput time and total labor power. We refer the model to a new production system. Such model can be used as an evaluation tool in the cases of (i) when a company wants to change its production system (usually a belt conveyor line) to a new one (including cell manufacturing); (ii) when a company wants to evaluate the performance of its converted system. Simulation experiments based on the data collected from the previous documents are used to estimate the marginal impact that each factor change has had on the estimated performance improvement resulting from the conversion.

Organic semiconductors have attracted considerable attention due to their interesting physical properties followed by various technological applications in the area of electronics and opto-electronics. It has been a long time since organic solar cells were expected as a low-cost high-energy conversion device. Although practical use of them has not been achieved, technological progress continues. Morphology of the materials, organic/inorganic interface, metal cathodes, molecular packing and structural properties of the donor and acceptor layers are essential for photovoltaic response. We have fabricated solar-cell devices based on copper-phthalocyanine(CuPc) as a donor(D) and fullerene($C_{60}$) as an electron acceptor(A) with doped charge transport layers, and BCP as an exciton blocking layer(EBL). We have measured photovoltaic characteristics of the solar-cell devices using the xenon lamp as a light source.
Post-stroke atrial fibrillation has been frequently reported especially in the patients with right insular infarct as an evidence of cerebrogenic mechanism affecting on cardiac rhythm. However, conversion to normal sinus rhythm after stroke in patients who had atrial fibrillation has not been reported. A 88-year-old men who had untreated atrial fibrillation was admitted to hospital due to left middle cerebral artery territory infarction. During admission, second ischemic attack occurred in right middle cerebral artery territory. At that time, his atrial fibrillation converted spontaneously to normal sinus rhythm. Restored sinus rhythm sustained until he died due to sepsis. This case is evidence supporting a theory that brain is associated with control of cardiac rhythm. If no risk factor is revealed by intensive investigation in patients with acute cerebral infarctions that cardioembolism is strongly suspected as a cause, physicians should concern transformation of atrial fibrillation to normal sinus rhythm after stroke.
In this paper, an isolated ZVS-PWM boost converter is proposed for single stage line conversion. For power factor correction, we used the half bridge topology at the primary side of isolation transformer permitting switching devices to operate under ZVS by using circuit parastics and operating at a fixed duty ratio near 50%. Thus the relatively continuous input current distortion and small size input filter are also achievable. The ZVS-PWM boost operation of the proposed converter can be achieved by using the boost inductor $L_f$, main switch $Q_3$, and simple auxiliary circuit at the secondary side of isolation transformer. The secondary side circuit differ from a conventional PWM boost converter by introduction a simple auxiliary circuit. The auxiliary circuit is actived only during a short switching transition time to create the ZVS condition for the main switch as that of the ZVT-PWM boost converter. With a single stage, it is possible to achieve a sinusoidal line current at unity power factor as well as the isolated 48V DC output. Comparing to the two stage schemes, overall effiency of the proposed converter is highly improved due to the effective ZVS of all devices as well as single stage power conversion. Thus, it can be operated at high switching frequency allowing use of small size input filter. Minimum voltage and current stress make it high power application possible.
Cable voltage was measured simultaneously at Hamada, Japan and Pusan, Korea, using an inservice telephone cable from March to December 1990. The spectral and harmonic analyses of these data sets show that tidal signals are dominant, and that tidal constituents $M_2$ and $O_1$, which are not affected by solar geomagnetic variations, have almost the same amplitude and are of opposite phase to each other. comparing the voltage difference in 1990 with that measured using the now abandoned cable in 1998, there are dominant tidal signals at the same periods in both data sets. They have approximately the same amplitude and phase for $M_2andO_1$. The relationship between the observed voltage and the volume transport through the Korea Strait can be considered robust and stable over time. The conversion factor from voltage to transport is estimated to be $11.9{\times}10^6m^3S^{-1}volt^{-1}$ by comparing the amplitude of model-derived $M_2$ tidal transport with that of the voltage difference in 1998. This value changes to $8.6{\times}10^6m^3S^{-1}volt^{-1}$ when taking into consideration the horizontal electric current effect. This effect depends on the downstream length scale of the flow. To obtain a more reliable and stable conversion factor from voltage to transport, the voltage should be compared with observed sub-tidal transports, which may have long downstream length scales.
