A Study on the Formation of Nitrate in the Atmosphere (환경 대기중 Nitrate의 생성에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the formation of particulate nitrate$(NO_3^-)$ and gaseous nitrate$(HNO_3)$ in the atmosphere was carried out in Seoul from Oct 8 to 11 1991. To collect $NO_3^-$ and $HNO_3$ in the ambient air, dual filter pack sampler (47mm$\phi$) was used. In the dual filter pack sampler, the first filter was Teflon filter (poresize 1$\mum$) for collection of $NO_3^-$ and the second filter was Nylon filter (poresize 0.45 $\mum$) for $HNO_3$. Particulate nitrate$(NO_3^-)$ and Sulfate ions were analysed by Ion chromatography. $HNO_3$ concentration was higher in the day time $(9.93\mug/m^3)$ than the night time$(3.50\mug/m^3)$, and Particulate nitrate$(NO_3^-)$ concentration was higher in the night time and early morning$(6.21\mug/m^3)$ than the day time$(4.31\mug/m^3)$. The conversion rate of $NO_x$ to total nitrate$(NO_3^-, HNO_3)$ was 7.57%/hr in the day time and 4.79%/hr in the night time, and total average conversion rate was 5.60%/hr.

Precipitation of Rare Earth Chlorides in a LiC-KCl Eutectic Molten Salt (LiCl-KCl 공융염 내에서 희토류염화물들의 침전)

  • The precipitation reaction of some rare earth chlorides ($Ce/Nd/GdCl_3$) in a LiCl-KCl molten salt has been carried out by reaction with oxygen. Identification of rare earth precipitates by reaction with oxygen and effects of oxygen sparging time (max. 420 min) and molten salt temperature ($450{\sim}750^{\circ}C$) on conversion were investigated. In this study, regardless of the oxygen sparging time and the molten salt temperature, oxychlorides (REOCl) for $NdCl_3$ and $GdCl_3$, and an oxide ($REO_2$) for $CeCl_3$ are formed as a precipitate, which are identical with the estimation results of Gibbs free energy of reaction (${\Delta}G_r$). The conversion of rare-earth chlorides into insoluble precipitates was described by using a conversion ratio. The conversion ratio increased exponentially with the oxygen sparging time and finally showed asymptotic value, over 0.999 at $750^{\circ}C$ of the molten salt temperature and over 300 min of sparging time conditions. The conversion ratios were increased with the molten salt temperature. In case of $CeCl_3$, when the sparging time exceed 60 min, the values of the conversion ratio were nearly constant over 0.999 in all experimental temperature conditions.

  • A new concept in resolver-to-digital conversion is described, which is based on the digital phase locked loop(DPLL). This converter receives phase modulation and converts it into digital form using time ratio techniques. In this paper, the theories on DPLL and resolver and the design of the converter are covered.

  • In the integrated systems, that is integrated digital TV(DTV) internet and home automation, like home server, is needed integration of digital TV video signal and computer graphic signal. The graphic signal is operating at the high speed and has time-divide-stream. So the re-request of data is not easy at the time of error detection. therefore EDAC algorithm is efficient. This paper presents the efficiency error detection auto correction(EDAC) for conversion of graphics signal to DTV video signal. A presented EDAC algorithms use the modified Hamming code for enhancing video quality and reliability. A EDAC algorithm of this paper can detect single error, double error, triple error and more error for preventing from incorrect correction. And it is not necessary an additional memory. In this paper The comparison between digital TV video signal and graphic signal, a EBAC algorithm and a design of conversion graphic signal to DTV signal with EDAC function is described.

But recent development of large integrated circuit make it possible that One-Chip microprocessor processes high speed arithmatic calculation used in control theory. Specially this chip is called Digital Signal Processing chip. So, this research developes high performance, high reliable digital control system using TMS320C30 of Texas Instrument for real time control in power conversion system.

  • In this paper, a new single phase voltage sag/swell compensator using direct power conversion is introduced. A new compensator consists of input/output filter, series transformer and direct ac-ac converter, which is a single-phase back-to-back PWM converter without dc-link capacitors. Advantages of the proposed compensator include: simple power circuit by eliminating dc-link electrolytic capacitors and thereby, improved reliability and increased life time of the entire compensator; simple PWM strategy to compensate voltage sag/swell at the same time and reduced switching losses in the ac-ac converter. Further, the proposed scheme is able to adopt simple switch commutation method without requiring complex four-step commutation method commonly required in the direct power conversion. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate the advantages of the new compensator and PWM strategy.

Oxidation Behavior of UO$_2$in Air at 300~55$0^{\circ}C$

  • The oxidation behavior of UO$_2$pellets was studied using a thermogravimetric analyzer and an XRD in the temperature range of 300 to 550$^{\circ}C$ in air. From XRD studies it is found that UO$_2$is converted to U$_3$O$\_$8/ and the weight gains of UO$_2$specimen are characterized by S-shape curves. After complete oxidation the specimens broke into fine powder and the average weight gain was about 3.93 wt%. The activation energy of 50% conversion of UO$_2$to U$_3$O$\_$8/ is 81.6 kJ/mol and the oxidation rate per unit time was found to be as follows dw/dt=6.54${\times}$10$\^$6/ e (equation omitted), wt%/h : at 50% conversion of UO$_2$into U$_3$O$\_$8/ where w, t and T were wt% gain, conversion time and temperature, respectively.

  • In this study, the theoretical investigation of the electrically heated catalyst(EHC) for vehicle application has been carried out using the thermal equivalence of EHC system and the data of vehicle tests to meet ultra low emission vehicle(ULEV) standard. To improve the efficiency of EHC system, it is necessary to understand relation between the power, the operating time and the conversion efficiency of EHC system. The relation was found with thermal equivalence of EHC system which considers the power supply to EHC, heat loss, chemical exothermic energy generated by oxidation reaction and net energy coming in via the exhaust gas. From this relation, the limits of needful power and operating time to meet the ULEV standard can be suggested, when the conversion efficiency of catalyst was known.

  • A novel design of contious-time filter for direct conversion receiver applications is proposed. The filter supports different modes including GSM, WCDMA. A 5th chebyshev filter is realized in a gm-C filter topology. The filter circuit is implemented in a standard CMOS $0.35{\mu}m$ processing parameter with a supply voltage of 2.5V. The HSPICE results show that the filter has 200KHz and 5MHz cutoff frequency, and each 3.4us and 85.44us gm value.
