시화조력발전소 수차발전기 제어시스템의 동적 특성 해석 (Dynamic Characteristic Analysis of Water-Turbine Generator Control System of Sihwa Tidal Power Plant)

  • Tidal power is one of new and renewable energy sources. The seawater is stored inside a tidal embankment built at the mouth of a river or bay, where tides ebb and flow. The water turbine-generators produce power by exploiting the gap in the water level between the water outside and inside the embankment. Tidal power plant is a large plant that is installed on the sea. And then, the facility's operations and a separate control system for monitoring and maintenance is required. However, this plant predictive control of building systems and technologies have been avoided the transfer of technology from advanced global companies. Accordingly, the control system for core technology development and localization is urgently needed. This paper presents modeling and simulation using by PSS/E about generator, governor, exciter, and power system stabilizer for control system in Sihwa tidal power plant to improve the efficiency and develope of core technology. And the dynamic characteristics of governor and exciter were analyzed.

Simulation of chloride penetration into concrete structures subjected to both cyclic flexural loads and tidal effects

  • Chloride induced corrosion is a concern that governs the durability of concrete structures in marine environments, especially in tidal environments. During the service lives of concrete structures, internal cracks in the concrete cover may appear due to imposed loads, accelerating chloride penetration because of the simultaneous action of environmental and service structural loads. This paper investigated the effects of cyclic flexural loads on chloride diffusion characteristics of plain concretes, and proposed a model to predict the chloride penetration into plain concretes subjected to both tidal environments and different cyclic flexural load levels. Further, a new experiment was performed to verify the model. Results of the model using Finite Difference Method (FDM) showed that the durability of concretes in tidal environments was reduced as cyclic flexural load levels, SR, increased, and the modeling results fitted well with the experimental results.

라그랑지안 입자추적법에 의한 유출유 확산모델링 (The Application of Lagrangian Particle-Tracking Method to Modelling of Oil-Spill Dispersion)

  • To predict the oil-spill dispersion in marine waters, the oil-spill dispersion model based on Lagrangian particle-tracking method was developed and applied to Kwangyang and Jinju Bay. The tidal current movements to be required as input data of the oil-spill dispersion model were obtained by a two-dimensional numerical tidal model. Evaluation of tidal current movements using mean tide was successful. Modelling results were compared with the field data obtained at spill site. There were some descrepancies between modeling results and field data. However, the general pattern of modelling results was similar to that of field data. Provided the real-time tidal currents and more accurate wind data are supported, more favorable results can be obtained.

생태계 모델을 이용한 갯벌의 수질정화능력 산정 (Estimation of Ability for Water Quality Purification Using Ecological Modeling on Tidal Flat)

  • It has been known that shallow-water regions, such as tidal flats, sea grass and sea weed beds have water purification capability, and they also serve as nursery grounds for many fishes. On the other hand, tidal flat areas are economically attractive sites for reclamation, to be used for developing industries. When developing shallow-water areas, we have to propose a plan to mitigate the environmental impact associated with such a development plan. However, it is difficult to estimate the affects on the ecosystem and water purification, and the literature related to this matter is insufficient. In order to evaluate the ability of coastal tidal flat and to predict the future changes, it is necessary to develop a reliable prediction technique and construction of data by using a field investigation. In this study, we carried out a numerical model test for the tidal flat ecosystem, using the pelagic system and the benthic system, simultaneously, in order to show a change in the tidal flat ecosystem. The flow of nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon has been identified as a primary consideration of marine ecosystem components, and the capability of water purification and the change of the tidal flat were predicted using this flow. In order to make a more reliable prediction, a field investigation to determine tide, current and creatures of the object coastal area has been done. The purification capability of this shallow-water region is estimated from the model results. According to the results of experiments, the tidal flat has a capability of water purification (Sink) of 11mgN/m2/day, but the other area has a load (Source) of 20mgN/m2/day. As a result, we could confirm that the tidal flat of an object coastal area plays an important role in water purification.

Nonlinear Tidal Characteristics along the Uldolmok Waterway off the Southwestern Tip of the Korean Peninsula

  • Analyses of tidal observations and a numerical model of the $M_2$ and $M_4$ tides in the Uldolmok waterway located at the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula are described. This waterway is well known fer its strong tidal flows of up to more than 10 knots at the narrowest part of the channel. Harmonic analysis of the observed water level at five tidal stations reveals dramatic changes in the amplitude and phase of the shallow water constituents at the station near the narrowest part, while survey results show a decreasing trend in local mean sea levels toward the narrow section. It was also observed that the amplitudes of semi-diurnal constituents, $M_2$ and $S_2$ are diminishing toward the narrowest part of the waterway. Two-dimensional numerical modeling shows that the $M_2$ energy flux is dominated by the component coming from the eastern boundary. The $M_2$ energy is inward from both open boundaries and is transported toward the narrow region of the channel, where it is frictionally dissipated or transferred to other constituents due to a strong non-linear advection effect. It is also shown that the $M_4$ generation is strong around the narrow region, and the abrupt decrease in the M4 amplitude in the region is due to a cancellation of the locally generated M4 with the component propagated from open boundaries. The superposition of both propagated and generated M4 contributions also explains the discontinuity of the M4 phase lag in the region. The tide-induced residual sea level change and the regeneration effect of the $M_2$ tide through interaction with $M_4$ are also examined.

둥지형 동적결합 조석 모형을 이용한 황해 및 동중국해의 조석모형 (Modeling of Tides in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea using Dynamically Interfaced Nested Tidal Model)

  • 경도상 $1/12^{\circ}$, 위도상 $l/15^{\circ}$의 해상도를 갖는 최병호(1990)의 2차원 황해 및 동중국해의 조석모형을 근간으로 하여 한반도 주변해역의 정밀수심 DB(최병호 등, 2002)를 기초입력으로 하여 격자세분화 기법과 서로 다른 격자체계하에서의 다른 계간시간간격을 사용하는 해안 및 하구역 모형으로의 개선을 통하여 모형의 효율성, 사용성 및 모형영역내의 세격자 영역의 위치적 이식성을 향상시킨 둥지형 동적결합 조식모형체계를 수립하였다. 수립된 모형체계의 타당성과 적용성을 입증하기 위하여 새만금 해역을 세밀격자로서 해상시킨 수치모형 실험을 실시하였으며, 모형의 계산치와 관측치의 비교를 통하여 만족할 만한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 수립된 체계는 황해와 동중국해 대륙붕해영역내에서 위치적 이식성이 용이한 조석예보체계로서 발전될 수 있다.

Transient Groundwater Flow Modeling in Coastal Aquifer

  • Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) and the interface between seawater and freshwater in an unconfined coastal aquifer was evaluated by numerical modeling. A two-dimensional vertical cross section of the aquifer was constructed. Coupled flow and salinity transport modeling were peformed by using a numerical code FEFLOW In this study, we investigated the changes in groundwater flow and salinity transport in coastal aquifer with hydraulic condition such as the magnitude of recharge flux, hydraulic conductivity. Especially, transient simulation considering tidal effect and seasonal change of recharge rate was simulated to compare the difference between quasi-steady state and transient state. Results show that SGD flux is in proportion to the recharge rate and hydraulic conductivity, and the interface between the seawater and the freshwater shows somewhat retreat toward the seaside as recharge flux increases. Considered tidal effect, SGD flux and flow directions are affected by continuous change of the sea level and the interface shows more dispersed pattern affected by velocity variation. The cases which represent variable daily recharge rate instead of annual average value also shows remarkably different result from the quasi-steady case, implying the importance of transient state simulation.

이동경계를 고려한 유한요소 해수류동모형 (A Finite Element Hydrodynamic Model far Moving Boundary Problems)

  • 지금까지 연안조류를 예측하는 대부분의 유한요소 수치모형은 육지경계를 고정하여 사용하여 왔으나, 조간대가 넓게 발달한 우리나라 서해연안에서의 적용은 현실적이지 못하였다. 본 연구에서는 이동경계(조간대)를 고려한 유한요소법에 관한 평면 2차원 해수류동 수치모형을 수립하였다. 유한요소의 형태로는 3각형을 사용하였으며, 시간적분방법으로는 양해법을 사용하였다. 수립된 수치모형은 한쪽이 열린 경계와 다른 한쪽에 조간대를 갖는 장방형 수노에서 모형의 조간대 처리에 대한 특성이 분석 되었으며, 전나남도 해남군과 진도군사이에 위치한 마노해, 특히 울돌목의 조류계산에 적용되었다. 모형의 현장 적용으로부터 이동경계 처리를 포함한 수치모형의 타당성을 입증하였으며, 고천암적제의 건설에 따라 조간대 영역의 큰 변화를 갖는 마로해에서 조류분포의 변화와 최대 약 12노트에 달하는 유속을 갖는 울돌목부근에서의 조류 분포특성을 재현하였다. 본 모형은 신한요소법을 사용함으로써 서, 남해와 같이 해안선이 복잡한 해역에서 해안선을 보다 정확하게 표현할 수 있으며, 조간대의 변화를 이동경계를 사용함으로써 해안선부근의 조류예측의 정확도를 높일 수 있는 장점이 있다.

조력에너지 개발을 위한 공간데이터 모델링 방안 (A Plan of Spatial Data Modeling for Tidal Power Energy Development)

  • 지형적인 영향으로 큰 조차가 발생하여 조력발전에 유리한 입지를 보유하고 있는 인천만을 대상으로 2006년부터 조력에너지 실용화 기술개발을 위한 연구가 지속적으로 추진되고 있다. 이러한 조력에너지 개발을 위해서는 조력발전 시설물의 최적입지를 결정하고 환경영향을 최소화하는 최적의 대안을 도출할 필요가 있다. 이를 효율적으로 수행하기 위해서는 개발과 보전에 관련된 다양한 공간요소를 체계적으로 관리하고 활용할 수 있는 공간정보체계가 필수적이다. 본 연구를 통해 조력에너지 개발을 위한 공간 데이터는 자료 특성에 따라 크게 세 가지 데이터 군으로 정의 가능하였다. 핵심 데이터 군으로는 조석, 조류 뿐 아니라 파랑, 침식, 퇴적 요소와 같은 공간데이터로 정의된다. 또한 지형도, 시설물도, 수심과 같은 기본 데이터 군과 해양생태와 해양환경 등 각종 주제도 성격의 참조 데이터 군으로 정의된다. 본 연구의 주요 목적은 이러한 공간 데이터 구성 요소의 정의를 통해 필수적 데이터모델과 선택적 데이터모델로 분류한 개념적 공간데이터 모델링 방법론을 정립하고자 함이다.
