  • Mooring is the operation of securing a ship to a wharf or quay by means of rapes or chains. A. moored ship need not necessarily be truly stationary. It may be free to rise and fall with the tick or the loading and unloading of cargo or to oscillate in response to the action of the environmental forces. In this respect a moored ship is restricted to a limited amount of movement within well-defined bounds. This study is intended to analyze the tension of mooring lines by a FEM program, as the current velocities and working directions are varied. The motion of a berthed ship is studied concerning with the wave periods and the direction. Also the behavior of the modeled vessel are investigated for a berthed condition.

  • This paper presents an algorithm that conducts automatic memory scrubbing operated by dedicated hardwares. The proposed algorithm is designed so that it can scrub entire memory in a given scrub period, while minimally affecting the execution of flight softwares. The scrub controller is constructed in a form of state machines, which have two execution modes - normal mode and burst mode. The deadline event generator and period tick generator are designed in a separate way to support the behavior of the scrub controller. The proposed controller is implemented in VHDL code to validate its applicability. A simple version of the controller is also applied to mass memory modules used in STSAT-3.

  • The offshore wind power plants are watched as a new market to accomplish the needed energy, bringing technical and economical challenges. Advanced countries in the field of wind industry are now appling the 600 MPa, 150~200 mm thick high strength steel to offshore wind power plants. Moreover, the high efficient welding methods which is weldable ultra tick high strength steel with 1 pass welding are developed and applied in manufacturing the offshore wind tower. This article deals with the present world wide status of offshore power plants and the tendency of the development of high efficient welding technology for constructing the offshore wind tower. This article intends to offer the materials for development and raising of the domestic offshore wind power technology.

  • This paper presents the notion of time-coobservability as a core condition far the existence of a decentralized supervisor achieving a given language specification in a timed discrete event system (TDES). A TDES is modeled by the framework of Brandin & Wonham [5], and the decentralized supervisory control architecture presented is extended from the untimed architecture of Yoo & Lafortune [1]. To develop the time-coobservability of a language specification, specifically this paper presents the C&P time-coobservability and D&A time-coobservability in the consideration of the event tick and forcing mechanism of decentralized supervisors.

  • Attempts were made to isolate and identify Korean bovine Babesia parasite. Blood samples were collected from Holstein cows in Korea. and Babesia parasites were propagated in SCID mice with circulating bovine red 1)food cells for isolation. The isolate was then antigenically and genotypically compared with several Japanese isolates. The Korean parasite was found to be nearly identical to the Oshima strain isolated from Japanese cattle, which was recently designated as Babesia ovata oshimensis n. var. Haemaphusalis longicornis was the most probable tick species that transmitted the parasite .

  • It is very important to test linear cycle positioning accuracy of Machining centers as it affect all other machines machined by them in industries. For example, if the linear positioning accuracy of each axes directions is bad, the size of works will be wrong and the change-ability will be bad in the assembly of machine parts. In this paper, measuring systems are organized to measure linear displacements of table or spindle of machine center using laser interferometer, magnescale and tick pulses comming out from computer in order to get data at constant time intervals from the sensors. And each set of data gotten from test is expressed to a plots by computer treatment and the results of linear positioning error motion is estimated to numerics by statistical treatments.

  • Babesia gibsoni infection was diagnosed and treated in three hunting dogs which were hospitalized to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University between April 4 and August 29, 1987. All three dogs revealed severe anemia, hemoglobinuria, splenomegaly and markedly decreased PCV, RBC count and hemoglobin. The anemia was regenerative, as characterized by increased numbers of nucleated erythrocytes, polychromasia, anisocytosis, reticulocytosis. B. gibsoni was identified by examination of blood smear stained with Giemsa stain. The forms of B. gibsoni identified in this report were pleomorphic such as singnet ring, oval, comma, dot and elongated forms. The maximal percentages of erythrocytes infected with one or more B. gibsoni organisms were 39%, 20% and 40%, respectively. The Tick, Haemophysalis longicornis was assumed to be the vector of babesiosis in these cases. Specific treatment consisted of diminazene aceturate and supportive treatment consisted of whole blood transfusion, lactated Ringer's solution, vitamin B complex and broad spectrum antibiotics. All three dogs had convalesced successfully after treatment.

  • Although Lycaconitine, one of the alkaloids of Radix Jingyu, had been identified in 1884, its use in practice has not been known probably because of our limited knowledge on pharmacologic actions of the drug. Recently repellent efficacy of Lycaconitine against Korean cattle ticks and goat ticks was demonstrated. Obviously, there in a need to investigate toxicologic aspects of Lycaconitine before its widespread use for the control of animal ticks can be attempted. As will be reported in this paper, Lycaconitine Shows a wide margin of safety in the concentration applied as cattle or goat tick repellent.

  • It was previously reported that aqueous extracts of Radix Jingyu and Fructus ponciri, and also Lycaconitine, an alkaloid of Radix Jingyu, exhibit excellent effects as cattle tick repellent. The repost deals with the field teats carried out with these three drugs for their repellent effects against Korean goat ticks, nearly 99 per cent of which are composed of Haemaphysalis bispinosum and the rest of Boophilus microplus. The study revealed that Korean goat ticks are as susceptible to all three drugs tested as korean cattle ticks.
