  • We prepared the nano-sized $TiO_2$ particles by the diffusion flame reactor and investigated the effects of several process variables on the generation and transport properties of $TiO_2$ particle. As the length from the tip of diffusion flame reactor increases, the size of $TiO_2$ particle increases by the coagulation between particles. The structure of $TiO_2$ particles prepared is almost found to be anatase. It was found that the $TiO_2$ particle size depends more largely on the change of reactor temperature than on the change of inlet $TiCl_4$ concentration.

  • On the bases of the results from "Additive Coating of BaTiO$_3$ Powder using Sol Coating Method I", experimental condition was defined. Representative additives for BaTiO$_3$, that is to say, Mg, Ca and Mn were experimented. The sources of the metal ion were used by organometal complex. As added it, the stability of BaTiO$_3$ sol was evaluated. Mg and Ca were stable, however, The solubility limit of Mn-ATH was 0.05 mol ratio in Mn-ATH/sol. The solubility limit of Mg ion in BaTiO$_3$ was lower than 2 mol%. From the x Ray diffraction patterns, lattice parameters were different with temperature and additives, because the solubility of metal ion was varied in BaTiO$_3$. The dielectric constant of BaTiO$_3$ powders which coated with the 1.5 mol% Mg and calcined at 1200$^{\circ}C$ was increased with 20%.

  • Glass films of $SiO_2-TiO_2-M_xO_y$ (M = Co, Cr or Cu) have been prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glasses by the chemical solution method using a spin-coating technique. Commercially available tetraethyl orthosilicate, titanium trichloride, and cobalt-, chromium- and copper-nitrates were used as starting materials. No crystalline segregations of $Co_3O_4$, $Cr_2O_3$ and CuO were observed by X-ray diffraction ${\theta}-2{\theta}$ scans. From the optical transmission analysis, cobalt existed as $ Co^{2+}$ in tetrahedral coordination, chromium as $Cr^{6+}$ in tetrahedral symmetry and copper as $Cu^{2+}$ in octahedral coordination. Films with a crack-free and no texture exhibited homogeneous interfaces between the films and the substrates along the cross-section.

  • The Pb(Zr,Ti)O$_3$ thin films were fabricated with Pb(La,Ti)O$_3$ buffers in-situ onto Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition method. We have observed the increase of the remanent polarization using PLT buffers. The remanent polarization value of 33.4 $\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and the coercive field value of 66.4 kV/cm were obtained when the PLT tufter was deposited for 15 seconds. Enhancement of the polarization is resulted from the enhanced orientation of PZT thin film because of the PLT buffet layer.

  • In this paper, in order to develop low temperature sintering $PbTiO_3$-system piezoelectric ceramics for thickness-vibration-mode piezoelectric transformer, $Pb_{0.76}Ca_{0.24}[(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.04}Ti_{0.96}]O_3$ ceramics using $0.25\;wt\%\;CaCO_3$ and $0.2\;wt\%\;Li_{2}CO_3$ as sintering aids were manufactured according to the variation of poling field. The specimens could be sintered at $930\;^{\circ}C$. The piezoelectric properties were investigated according to the poling field. The maximum properties showed at the field of 6.5 kV/mm, which had kt of 0.49, Qmt of 1816, and $d_{33}$ of 81.4 pC/N.

  • As the demand for high-capacity batteries increases, there has been growing researches on the lithium metal anode with a capacity (3,860 mAh/g) of higher than that of conventional one and a low electrochemical potential (-3.040 V). In this study, using the anatase phased TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis, a PVdF-HFP/TiO2 organic/inorganic composite material was designed and used as an interfacial protective layer for a Li metal anode. As-formed organic/inorganic-lithium composite thin film was confirmed through the crystalline structure and morphological analyses. In addition, the electrochemical test (cycle stability and voltage profile) confirmed that the protective layer of PVdF-HFP/TiO2 composite (10 wt% TiO2 and 1.1 ㎛ film thickness) contributed to the enhanced electrochemical performance of the lithium metal anode (Colombic efficiency retention: 90% for 77 cycles). Based on comparative test with the untreated lithium electrode, it was confirmed that our protective layer plays an important role to stabilize/improve the EC performance of the lithium metal negative electrode.

  • The samples were synthesized by using a solid state reaction. The X-ray diffraction pattern for $Ti_{0.96}Co_{0.02}Fe_{0.02}O_2$ showed a pure rutile phase with tetragonal structures. Mixtures of the proper proportions of the elements sealed in evacuated quartz ampoule were heated at $870{\sim}930^{\circ}C$ for one day and then slowly cooled down to room temperature at a rate of $10^{\circ}C/h$. In order to obtain single phase material, it was necessary to grind the sample after the first firing and to press the powders into pellets before annealing them for a second time in evacuated and sealed quartz ampoule. Magnetic properties have been investigated using the vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM). Room temperature magnetic hysteresis(M-H) curve showed an obvious ferromagnetic behavior and the magnetic moment per Fe atom under the applied of 0.8T was estimated to be about $1.3{\mu}_B/CoFe$. But the magnetic moment per Fe atom under the applied of 0.8T was estimated to be about $0.02{\mu}_B/CoFe$ without Ti-getter.

  • In this study, we investigated that the effect of alkali metals [Na(Sodium) and K(Potassium)], known as representative deactivating substances among exhaust gases of various industrial processes, on the NH3-SCR (selective catalytic reduction) reaction of V/W/TiO2 catalysts. NO, NH3-TPD (temperature programmed desorption), DRIFT (diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy analysis), and H2-TPR analysis were performed to determine the cause of the decrease in activity. As a result, each alkali metal acts as a catalyst poisoning, reducing the amount of NH3 adsorption, and Na and K reduce the SCR reaction by reducing the L and B acid points that contribute to the reaction activity of the catalyst. Through the H2-TPR analysis, the alkali metal is considered to be the cause of the decrease in activity because the reduction temperature rises to a high temperature by affecting the reduction temperature of V-O-V (bridge oxygen bond) and V=O (terminal bond).

  • The effect of Pt addition over $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2$ catalyst supported on PRO-66 was investigated for NO reduction in order to develop the catalytic filter working at low temperature. Catalytic filters, $Pt-V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2/PRD$, were prepared by co-impregnation of Pt, V, and W precursors on $TiO_2$-coated ceramic filter named PRD (PRD-66). Titania was coated onto the pore surface of the ceramic filter using a vacuum aided-dip coating method. The Pt-loaded catalytic filter shifted the optimum working temperature from $260-320^{\circ}C$(for the catalytic filter without Pt addition) to $190-240^{\circ}C$, reducing 700 ppm NO to achieve the $N_x$ slip concentration($N_x\;=\;NO+N_2O+NO_2+NH_3$) less than 20 ppm at the face velocity of 2 cm/s. $Pt-V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2$ supported on PRD showed the similar catalytic activity for NO reduction with that supported on SiC filter as reported in a previous study, which implies the ceramic filter itself has no considerable interaction for the catalytic activity.

  • Factors acting on the deactivation of $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalysts were investigated in the selective catalytic reduction(SCR) process for long term operation. The activity of $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalysts was decreased rapidly after 8 months from the starting of operation in the selective catalytic reaction processes. From ICP-AES analysis, the deactivation of the used catalysts could be caused from the calcium component included in urea solution as a reducing agent. It was found from the $NH_3$-TPD experiments that the strong basic element like Ca component drastically affected the acidity of the $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalyst. The results gave an explanation on the reason why the component of Ca, even though its concentration is very low, could lead to the deactivation of $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalyst in the selective catalytic reaction processes.
