Ti 및 Mo 첨가에 따른 치과 CAD/CAM용 Ni-Cr 및 Co-Cr합금의 표면분석 (Surface Analysis of Ni-Cr and Co-Cr Alloys with Addition of Ti and Mo for Dental CAD/CAM Use)

  • In this study, surface analysis of Ni-Cr and Co-Cr alloys with addition of Ti and Mo for dental CAD/CAM use has been researched experimentally. The surface characteristics of the alloys were examined by Vickers hardness test, bonding strength test, surface roughness test, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. The shrinkage of the sintered Ni-Cr alloy alloy was slightly larger than that of Ni-Cr-Ti alloy, and larger than Co-Cr alloy. Also, the addition of Mo showed a tendency to decrease shrinkage somewhat. From the result of XRD analysis, NiCr, $Ni_3Cr$ and $Ni_3Ti$ were observed in the sintered Ni-13Cr-xTi and Ni-13Cr-xMo alloys. In addition, ${\sigma}-CrCo$, $Co_2Mo_3$ and $TiCo_2$ were formed in the sintered Co-Cr-xTi and Co-Cr-xMo alloys. Surface hardness of Ti and Mo added alloy was higher than those of Ni-Cr and Co-Cr alloy. The bond strength between sintered alloy and porcelain was $16.1kgf/mm^2$ for Ni-13Cr alloy, $17.8kgf/mm^2$ for Ni-13Cr-5Ti alloy, and $8.2kgf/mm^2$ for Ni-13Cr-10Ti alloy, respectively.

  • In this study, porcelain bonding strength and mechanical properties of sintered Ni-Cr-Ti alloy for dental prosthodontics have been researched experimentally. Mechanical and morphological characteristics of the alloys were examined by Vickers hardness test, tensile and bonding strength test, surface roughness test, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. In the sintered Ni-13Cr-xTi alloys, morphology of sintered alloy showed porous matrix diffused with alloying elements of Cr and Ti, and showed dendritic structure after melting process. From the XRD results, the second phases of NiCr, $Ni_3Cr$, and $Ni_3Ti$ were formed in the case of sintered and melted Ni-13Cr-xTi alloys. The tensile strength and hardness of Ni-13Cr-xTi alloys increased, as Ti content increased. Surface roughness increased, as Ti content increased. The bonding strength between metal and porcelain of Ni-13Cr-5Ti alloy was higher than those of Ni-13Cr and Ni-13Cr-10Ti alloys

인산염계 주형재와 치과주조용 Ti-Zr-Cr계 합금의 계면반응 (Surface Reaction between Phosphate bonded Investment and Ti-Zr-Cr based Alloy for Dental castings)

  • The surface-reacted layer of titanium castings greatly affects their mechanical properties. This study analyzed the interfacial zone of Ti-20%Zr-5%Cr alloy castings obtained from phosphate bonded investment and examined the relationship between the surface-reacted layer and hardness. The Vickers hardness of cast disks were tested at 20$\mu m$ intervals from the surface to 120$\mu m$ in depth. The cross-section was observed metallurgically, and line profile of the reacted layer was conducted under the EDX. The surface-reacted layer of Ti-20%Zr-5%Cr alloy is showed a similar tendency to Ti-6%Al-4%V alloy in thickness, and also Si diffusion in multiple reacted layer of Ti-20%Zr-5%Cr alloy is less than cp Ti and similar to Ti-6%Al-4%V alloy. The Vickers hardness in the surface layer was greater than in the inner part, and the Vickers hardness of Ti-20%Zr-5%Cr alloy ranged 650 to 390 and cp Ti ranged 810 to 160, Ti-6%Al-4%V alloy ranged 710 to 530 respectively.

주조 형상기억 니켈-티타늄 합금의 초탄성 (SUPERELASTICITY OF CAST SHAPE MEMORY Ni-Ti ALLOY)

  • Ni-Ti alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, shape memory effect and superelasticity, so it has been used widely in biomedical fields. But it has difficulty in casting due to its high melting temperature and oxygen affinity at high temperature. Recently it has been attempted to cast Ni-Ti alloy using new casting machine and investment. The purpose of this study was to examine the superelastic behavior of cast shape memory Ni-Ti alloy and to compare the mechanical properties of the cast shape memory alloy with those of commercial alloys for removable partial denture framework. Ni-Ti alloy(Ni 50.25%, Ti 49.75% : atomic ratio) was cast with dental argon-arc pressure casting machine and Type IV gold alloy, Co-Cr alloy, Ni-Cr alloy, pure titanium were cast as reference. Experimental cast Ni-Ti alloy was treated with heat($500{\pm}2^{\circ}C$) in muffle furnace for 1 hour. Transformation temperature range of cast Ni-Ti alloy was measured with differential scanning calorimetry. The superelastic behavior and mechanical properties of cat Ni-Ti alloy were observed and evaluated by three point bending test, ultimate tensile test, Vickers microhardness test and scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows : 1. Cast Ni-Ti alloy(Ni 50.25%, Ti 49.75% : atomic ratio) was found to have superelastic behavior. 2. Stiffness of cast Ni-Ti alloy was considerably lesser than that of commercial alloys for removable partial denture. 3. Permanent deformation was observed in commercial alloys for removable partial denture framework at three point bending test over proportional limit(1.5mm deflection), but was not nearly observed in cast Ni-Ti alloy. 4. On the mechanical properties of ultimate tensile strength, elongation and Vickers microhardness number, cast Ni-Ti alloy was similiar to Type IV gold alloy, Co-Cr alloy, Ni-Cr alloy and pure titanium. With these results, cast Ni-Ti alloy had superelastic behavior and low stiffness. Therefore, it is suggested that cast Ni-Ti alloy may be applicated to base metal alloy for removable partial denture framework.

SULFIDATION PROCESSING AND Cr ADDITION TO IMPROVE OXIDATION RESISTANCE OF Ti-Al INTERMETALLIC COMPOUNDS AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

  • A novel process is proposed to improve oxidation resistance of Ti-Al intermetallic compounds at elevated temperatures by both Cr addition and pre-sulfidation, where TiAl alloys withlor without Cr addition were sulfidized at 1173K for 86.4ks at a 1.3 Pa sulfur partial pressure in a $H_2-H_2S$ gas mixture. The pre-sulfidation treatment formed a thin Cr-Al alloy layer as well as 7~10 micrometer $TiAl_3$ and $TiAl_2$ layer, due to selective sulfidation of Ti. Oxidation resistance of the pre-sulfidation processed TiAl 4Cr alloy was examined under isothermal and heat cycle conditions between room temperature and 1173K in air. Changes in $TiAl_3$ into $TiAl_2$ and then TiAl phases as well as their effect on oxidation behavior were investigated and compared with the oxidation behavior of the TiAl-4Cr alloy as TiAl and pre-sulfidation processed TiAl aHoys. After oxidation for up to 2.7Ms a protective $Al_2O_3$ scale was formed, and the pre-formed $TiAl_3$ changed into $TiAl_2$ and the $Al_2Cr$ phase changed into a CrAlTi phase between the $Al_2O_3$ scale and $TiAl_2$ layer. The pre-sulfidation processed TiAl-4Cr alloy had very good oxidation resistance for longer times, up to 2.7 Ms, in contrast to those observed for the pre-sulfidation processed TiAl alloy where localized oxidation occurred after 81 Oks and both the TiAl and TiAl-4Cr alloys themselves corroded rapidly from the initial stage of oxidation

폴리이미드에 스퍼터 증착한 Cu-Cr, Cu-Ti 합금박막의 열처리 전후의 접착력과 미세구조 (Microsstructure of Sputter-Deposited and Annealed Cu-Cr, Cu-Ti Alloy Films on Polyimide Substrate and Their Adhesion Property)

  • Both Cu-Cr and Cu-Ti alloy films with different composition were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering onto polyimide substrate and their adhesion and microstructure were observed. In addition, the effect of heat treatment at $400^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours on the variation of adhesion properties and on the changess of microstructure were investigated. Cu-Cr alloy films have crystalline structure of either for or bcc phase depending on the composition of the film. However, the Cu-Ti alloy film forms fcc phase at low Ti concentration while it forms an amorphous phase as the Ti concentration in the films is increased to more than 25at.%. TEM analysis reveal that the microstructure of Cu-Cr and Cu-Ti films forms an open structure with vacant spaces. The adhesion between Cu-Cr, Cu-Ti alloy films and polyimide substrate is relatively good before the heat treatment, but is noticeably reduced after the heat treatment. In particular, the adhesion strength is significantly reduced in the Cu-Ti alloy films after the heat treatment. The reduction of adhesion strength after the heat treatment is identified to relate with the formation of oxide phases at the metal/polyimide interface by AES(Auger Electron Spectroscopy).

플라즈마 침탄 및 CrN 코팅된 Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 구조 및 Creep특성 (Creep Properties of Plasma Carburized and CrN Coated Ti-6Al-4V Alloy)

  • In order to improve the low hardness and low wear resistance of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, plasma carburization treatment and CrN film coating were carried out. Effects of the plasma carburization and CrN coating were analyzed and compared with the non-treated alloy by mechanical and creep tests. After plasma carburization and CrN coating treatments, the carburized layer was about 150 ${\mu}m$ in depth and CrN coated layer was about 7.5 ${\mu}m$ in thickness. Hardness value of about $H_{v}$ 402 of the non-treated alloy was improved to $H_{v}$ 1600 and 1390 by plasma carburization and CrN thin film coating, respectively. Stress exponent(n) was decreased from 9.10 in CrN coating specimen to 8.95 in carburized specimen. However, the activation energy(Q) was increased from 242 to 250 kJ/mol. It can be concluded that the static creep deformation for Ti-6Al-4V alloy is controlled by the dislocation climb over the ranges of the experimental conditions.

Study on the Improvement of the Electrochemical Characteristics of Surface-modified V-Ti-Cr alloy by Ball-milling

  • Vanadium based solid solution alloys have been studied as a potential negative electrode of Ni/MH battery due to their high hydrogen storage capacity. In order to improve the kinetic property of V-Ti alloy in KOH electrolyte, the ball-milling process with Ni, which has a catalytic effect of hydrogen absorption/desorption, was carried out to modify the surface properties of V-Ti-Cr alloys with high hydrogen storage capacity. Moreover, to overcome the problem of poor cycle life, V-Ti alloy substituted by Cr, V0.68 Ti0.20 Cr0.12, has been developed showing a good cycle performance (keeping about 80 % of initial discharge capacity after 200 cycles). The cycle life of surface-modified V0.68 Ti0.20 Cr0.12 alloy was improved by suppressing the formation of TiO2 layer on the alloy surface while decreasing the amount of dissolved vanadium in the KOH electrolyte. In order to promote the effect of Ni coating on the surface property of V0.68 Ti 0.20 Cr 0.12 alloy by ball-milling, filamentary-typed Ni, which has higher surface coverage area than sphere-typed Ni was used as a surface modifier. Consequently, the surface-modified V0.68 Ti0.20 Cr0.12 alloy electrode showed a improved discharge capacity of 460 mAh/g.

치과용 Ti-10%Zr-X%Cr(X=0,1,3)합금의 연삭성 (Grindability of Ti-10%Zr-X%Cr(X=0,1,3) Alloys for Dental Applications)

  • Purpose: The grindability of Ti-10%Zr-X%Cr(X=0,1,3) alloys in order to develop Ti alloys for dental applications with better machinability than unalloyed titanium has been evaluated. Methods: Experimental Ti-10%Zr-X%Cr(X=0,1,3) alloys were made in an argon-arc melting furnace. Slabs of experimental alloys were ground using a SiC abrasive wheel on an electric handpiece at one of the four rotational speeds of the wheel (12000, 18000, 25000 or 30000rpm) by applying a force(100gf). Grindability was evaluated by measuring the amount of metal volume removed per minute(grinding rate) and the volume ratio of metal removed compared to the wheel material lost, which was calculated from the diameter loss (grinding ratio). Experimental datas were compared the results with those of cp-Ti(commercially pure titanium) Results: It was observed that the grindability of Ti-10%Zr-X%Cr(X=0,1,3) alloys increased with an increase in the Cr concentration. More, they are higher than cp-Ti, particularly the Ti-10%Zr-3%Cr alloy exhibited the highest grindability at all rotational speeds except 12000rpm. There was significant difference in the grinding rate and grinding ratio between Ti-10%Zr-3%Cr alloy and cp-Ti at all rotational speeds(p<0.05). Conclusion: The Ti-10%Zr-3%Cr alloy exhibited better grindability at high rotational speeds, great potential for use as a dental machining alloy.

Fe, Mn, Si 치환에 의한 Ti-Cr-V 합금의 수소저장 특성 향상 (Improvement of Fe, Mn or Si Substitution on Hydrogen Storage Properties of Ti-Cr-V Alloys)

  • Hydrogen storage properties of $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43-X}V_{0.25}M_X$($0{\leq}X{\leq}0.1$, M=Fe, Mn, Si) have been investigated. With varing of Mn content, the lattice parameter of the alloy was unchanged and similar to that of $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy. With increase of Fe, Si content, the lattice parameters of the BCC phases decreased. When the Fe content was 8 at%, the desorption plateau pressure increased to several atmospheres without decrease of the effective hydrogen storage capacity of the alloy. When the Mn content was 8 at%, the effective hydrogen storage capacity showed approximately 2.5 wt% without change in the desorption plateau pressure. With increase of Si content, hysteresis increased and hydrogen storage capacity decreased rapidly. A study was also made on how desorption temperature affected the usable hydrogen of the $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.35}V_{0.25}Mn_{0.08}$ alloy. The temperature was varied from 293 to 413 K, and the pressure from 5 to 0.002 MPa. The usable hydrogen of the alloy was 2.7 wt% when absorbed and desorbed at 293 K and 373 K., respectively. The heat of hydride formation of the alloy was approximately -35.5 kJ/mol $H_2$.
