Low temperature UV-assisted rapid thermal processing of (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ thin films (저온에서 (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$ 박막의 UV를 이용한 RTP에 관한 연구)

  • Chemically homogeneous $Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}TiO_3$ (BST) sols were synthesized using barium acetate, strontium acetate, and titanium isoproxide as starting materials. BST thin films of thickness 340 nm were deposited on Pt/$TiO_2/SiO_2$/Si and alumina substrates using spin coating method. The technique used for the processing of these films was Ultraviolet (UV) sol-gel photoannealing, using phto-sensitivity precursor solutions and UV-assisted rapid thermal processing(UV-RTP). The crystallization behaviour of the BST sols and thin films was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Variation of permittivity and dielectric loss were measured in LCR-meter, model HP 4394A.

  • This study evaluated a simple and useful route to the synthesis of mesoporous $TiO_2$ microcapsules with a hollow macro-core structure. A hydrophilic precursor sol containing the surfactants in the hydrophobic solvents was deposited on PMMA polymer surfaces modified by non-thermal plasma to produce mesoporous shells after calcination. The surface of the PMMA polymer spheres was coated with $NH_4F$ and CTAB to control the interfacial properties and promote the subsequent deposition of inorganic sols. These hollow type mesoporous $TiO_2$ microcapsules could be applied as an efficient substrate for the immobilization of DNA oligonucleotides.

  • A Ti(CN) layer was formed on aluminum alloy by using diethylamino titanium, hydrogen and nitrogen with the pulsed DC PACVD process. Effect of process parameters such as precursor evaporation temperature, duty ratio, frequency, voltage, $H_2$/$N_2$gas ratio on the properties of Ti(CN) layer were investigated. The layer thus obtained had high hardness and low friction coefficient. Detailed results on the hardness, surface morphology, XRD, WDS analysis, wear test and scratch test of this layer are presented.

  • Dielectric properties of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-PbTiO_{3}$, ceramics prepared by the columbite precursor method have been investigated as a function of the sintering temperature in the range of 1000∼$1250^{\circ}C$. The $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-PbTiO_{3}$ ceramics show typical relaxor ferroelectric behavior. As the sintering temperature increased, the dielectric constant increased and the phase transition temperature shifted to lower temperature. The TCK(temperature coefficient of dielectric constant) and VRK (variation rate of dielectric constant) increased with increasing sintering temperature. The $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-PbTiO_{3}$ compositions sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ appear to be suitable for ferroelectric bolometer.

Preparation and photocatalytic activity of ACF/$TiO_2$ composites by using titanium n-butoxide and acid modified activated carbon fiber

  • Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution was investigated using $TiO_2$ coated on various acid modified activated carbon fiber (ACF). The ACFs/$TiO_2$ composites were prepared from titanium n-butoxide (TNB) as titanium precursor and various acid modified ACFs. The prepared samples are heat treated at 973 K. Then the ACF/$TiO_2$ composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). Moreover, photocatalytic degradation of MB by the ACF/$TiO_2$ composites was determined under UV irradiation. The results shows that the photocatalytic activity of ACF/$TiO_2$ composites ($AT1{\sim}AT4$) prepared with TNB and various acid modified ACF was much better than that of ACF/$TiO_2$ composite (AT) prepared with TNB and non-acid modified ACF, and the effects improved with order of sample AT3 > AT4 > AT1 > AT2.

  • [ $TiO_{2}-ZrO_{2}$ ] powders were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process using titanium iso-propoxide as a precursor. The amorphous $TiO_{2}$ particles, 70 nm in size, homogenously adhered to the surface of $ZrO_{2}$ the powders. After calcination at $450^{circ}C$, most of the $TiO_{2}$ powders appeared as an anatase type, whereas they changed to a rutile phase at $750^{circ}C$. For comparison of photocata­lytic activity, $TiO_{2}-ZrO_{2}$ nano-sized powders calcined at $450^{circ}C,\;600^{circ}C,\;and\;750^{circ}C$ were used. In the $TiO_{2}-20wt\%$ $ZrO_{2}$ powders cal­cined at $450^{circ}C$, there was excellent removal efficiency of Methyl Orange (MO). For the calcination temperature increased, $TiO_{2}­ZrO_{2}$ nano-sized powders increased $ZrO_{2}$ contents showed the good photoactivity for the photooxidation of MO.

Characteristics and Photocatalytic Properties of TiO2 Nanoparticles Synthesized by Thermal Decomposition Process (기상 합성 TiO2 나노입자의 특성 및 광촉매 특성)

  • The generation of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by a thermal decomposition of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) was carried out experimentally using a tubular electric furnace at various synthesis temperatures (700, 900, 1100 and $1300^{\circ}C$) and precursor heating temperatures (80, 95 and $110^{\circ}C$). Effects of degree of crystallinity, surface area and anatase mass fraction of those $TiO_2$ nanoparticles on photocatalytic properties such as decomposition of methylene blue was investigated. Results show that the primary particle diameter obtained from thermal decomposition of TTIP was considerably smaller than the commercial photocatalyst (Degussa, P25). Also, those specific surface areas were more than 134.4 $m^2$/g. Resultant $TiO_2$ nanoparticles showed improved photocatalytic activity compared with Deggusa P25. This is contributed to the higher degree of crystallinity, surface area and anatase mass fraction of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles compared with P25.

  • Lithium titanium oxide as anode material for energy storage prepared by novel synthesis method. $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ based spinel-framework structures are of great interest material for lithium-ion batteries. We describe here $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ a zero-strain insertion material was prepared by novel sol-gel method and by high energy ball milling (HEBM) of precursor to from nanocrystalline phases. According to the X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analysis, uniformly distributed $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ particles with grain sizes of 100nm were synthesized. Lithium cells, consisting of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ anode and lithium cathode showed the 173 mAh/g in the range of $1.0{\sim}3.0V$. Furthermore, the crystalline structure of $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ didn't transfer during the lithium intercalation and deintercalation process.
