In this paper, we calculate the thrust force by the permeance method. we analyze the thrust force vs. displacement and harmonic components of static thrust characteristics of LPM. Microstep reference current for cancelation of the dominent harmonic component is obtained by the analytical method.

The merits of linear motor are high speed, high acceleration and goad positioning accuracy. In addition, Linear motor for high quality machme tool call for high thrust, high stiffness. In using linear motor we also consider thrust ripple, detent force and thermal behavior. In this research, Iron core type single sided linear DC motor(LDM) is designed which thrust is 6,000 N. To accomplish this design, Various research is hlfilled l~ke the relation of thrust and permanent magnet position angle, the variation of detent force and thrust ripple, dynamic characteristics, and so on.
This paper considers a two-dimensional hydrofoil that is fully submerged and oscillating with forward speed. The flow field is assumed to be a propagating vertical velocity field. Using the perturbation theory, the problem is linearized, and the leading-order lift force is surveyed. The thrust force is analytically derived as the second-order horizontal force. As an example, the lift and thrust for a flapping flat plate in heaving and pitching modes are analyzed. The parameters affecting the thrust are listed. The thrust is expressed in terms of the quadratic transfer functions in relation to the disturbances. The quadratic transfer functions are studied parametrically to assess the most favorable thrust.
The linear motor is available for linear transition motion, because of its advantages, the motor design and its application have gradually increased, but the quantitative measurement system of thrust force has not been generalized. Need analysis of correct thrust for control performance improvement of HB-LPM(HB-type Linear Pulse Motor). It is difficult to analyze HB-LPM's thrust. In this paper, HB-LPM's thrust is expressed to mathematical expression. And it is proved validity of this numerical formula by thrust measurement system. Two phase driver is composed. It is verified validity of numerical formula that measure waveform of electric current and voltage that is supplied in each phase.

Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor (PMLSM) has high efficiency, high energy density, and high control-ability. But, the detent force always is produced by the structure of slot-teeth. There are the disadvantages such as noise and vibration of the apparatuses are induced and the control ability is curtailed because detent force acts as thrust ripple. Therefore, the detent force reduction is an essential requirement in PMLSM. Generally, the method, skewing permanent magnet or slot-teeth, is used to reduce the detent force. But the thrust is decreased at the same time. If permanent magnet is skewed, the lateral force which operates as the perpendicular direction of skew direction is generated in linear guide of PMLSM. So, V-skew model is proposed for the reduction of lateral force. The lateral force acts as braking force in linear motion guide, and it has bad influence to the characteristics of PMLSM. However, these problems will not be solved by 2-dimensional Finite Element Analysis (FEA). So, in this paper 3-dimensional FEA is applied to analyze the PMLSM where permanent magnet is skewed and has overhang. The detent force and thrust characteristics considering skew and overhang effects of permanent magnet are analyzed by 3-dimensional FEA and the results are compared with experimental values to verify the propriety of analysis.
In this paper, we have designed the advanced DVT HLSM inserted a permanent magnet into the slot in order to improve the thrust force without increasing the normal force. And it was analyzed the characteristics of thrust force and normal force of the new HLSM by using Finite Element Method and Virtual Work Method. As a result of this paper it was confirmed that the thrust force characteristics of the new HLSM improved about 23% in comparision with DVT HLSM without increasing the normal force.

In this paper, an experimental study was performed to investigate the speed ratio-torque-thrust characteristics for metal belt CVT. It is observed from the experimental results that nondimensional secondary thrust force follows with the existing theoretical formula with ${\mu}$=0.09~0.12 depending on the torque and the speed ratio. In order to represent these characteristics, an effective friction coefficient was introduced. Also, the slip characteristics between the belt and the pulley were investigated experimentally and traction coefficients at gross slip were obtained for various speed ratios. Using the traction coefficients and the effective friction coefficients, an improved formula for the secondary thrust force was suggested assuming that thrust force is the summation of the thrust of pseudo inactive arc and the thrust of pseudo active arc. The effective friction coefficient and the improved formula for the speed ratio-torque-thrust relationship suggested in this work can be used to obtain the appropriate secondary thrust.

A Flapping foil Produces an effective angle of attack, resulting in a normal force vector with thrust and lift components, and it can be expected to be a new highly effective propulsion system. A heaving foil model was made and it was operated within a circulating water channel at low Reynolds numbers. The unsteady thrust and lift acting on the heaving foil were measured simultaneously using a 6-axis force sensor based on force and moment detectors. We have been examined various conditions such as heaving frequency and amplitude in NACA 0010 Profile. The results showed that thrust coefficient and efficiency increased with reduced frequency and amplitude. We also Presented the experimental results on the unsteady fluid forces of a heaving foil at various Parameters.
For a given brushless DC linear motor, we suggest the numerical prediction methods to analyze it's thrust characteristics. First, we calculate the magnetic flux density by the finite element method, and we then compute the maximum thrust with three computational methods - a Lorentz equation, a Maxwell stress method and a virtual work method. To confirm the accuracy of the computational methods, we measure the thrust of the linear motor made by our laboratory with a force-torque sensor. Also, we calculate the thrust by the measured back electromotive force. To choose the appropriate method for a specified application, we compare the maximum thrusts of the computational method and the calculation by the back electromotive force with the measured one. We conclude that the Maxwell stress method is turned out the best because it has the most accurate results among three computational methods and it is more convenient than the calculation method by the back electromotive force.
