In this paper, a thrust prediction method for a developing vertical launching missile is proposed through considering a verified vertical launching missile(a baseline missile) as a model. In order to predict thrust profile of a developing vertical launching missile, both Similarity law and Pi theory are applied to the model. By comparing prediction results based on the 6-DOF program of a baseline missile with simulation results of a developing vertical launching missile, the proposed method has been indirectly verified.

This paper describes the surface roughness effect in parallel thrust bearing. In mixed lubrication, some contacts will take place between asperities, and partial lubrication will occur. An average Reynolds Equation is utilized to determine effects of surface roughness on partially lubricated contacts. By using an autocorrelation function for the surface profile, surface model is generated numerically Although the two surfaces are parallel in thrust bearing separated by thin film, the pressure peak is formed due to asperites. By means of surface profile parameters, it is shown that which surface is optimal for the parallel thrust bearing.

In this paper, we propose a method of generating pitch commands for consistent initial trajectories irrelevant to flight conditions in the initial boosting phase of a thrust-vector-controlled vehicle. After shape assumption of the pitch command profile, parameters of the profile are determined in real time in order for the summit height of the trajectory to be a desired value by deriving the summit height considering thrust performance, gravity, and other flight conditions. Computer simulation results demonstrate good performance of the proposed method.

A Flapping foil Produces an effective angle of attack, resulting in a normal force vector with thrust and lift components, and it can be expected to be a new highly effective propulsion system. A heaving foil model was made and it was operated within a circulating water channel at low Reynolds numbers. The unsteady thrust and lift acting on the heaving foil were measured simultaneously using a 6-axis force sensor based on force and moment detectors. We have been examined various conditions such as heaving frequency and amplitude in NACA 0010 Profile. The results showed that thrust coefficient and efficiency increased with reduced frequency and amplitude. We also Presented the experimental results on the unsteady fluid forces of a heaving foil at various Parameters.
A scroll compressor is on the increase in the use for the cooling and ambition machinery because of the advantages about high efficiency, low vibration and low noise. The design of thrust bearing for scroll compressor has depended on the experience. The lubrication considering the squeeze flow was applied for high side shell and low side shell of scroll thrust bearing. This work was based on governing fluid lubrication equation at the general coordinate. It shows the behavior for an orbiting scroll with direct numerical analysis using FDM. This study obtained the theoretical design value by finding load capacity and tilting angle of an orbiting scroll for thrust bearing in a scroll compressor. Especially this work performed the analysis about the design parameter. The program was written using Visual C++ to enhance user to change the design parameter easily. In particular the result value and the pressure profile were displayed as windows in every step for user to understand without difficulty.
LRE(Liquid propellant Rocket Engine) is one of the important parts to control the motion of rocket. For operation of rocket in error boundary of the set-up trajectory, it is necessarily to control the thrust of LRE according to the required thrust profile and control the mixture ratio of propellants fed into combustor for the constant mixture ratio. It is not easy to control thrust and mixture ratio of propellants since there are co-interferences among the components of LRE. In this study, the dynamic model of LRE was constructed and the dynamic characteristics were analyzed with control system as PID control and PID+Q-ILC(Iterative Learning Control with Quadratic Criterion) control. From the analysis, it could be observed that PID+Q-ILC control logic is more useful than standard PID control system for control of LRE.

Clearance movements of engine piston are very related to the piston impact to the engine block as well as many tribological problems. Some of the major parameters that influence these kinds of performances are piston profiles, piston offsets and clearance magnitudes. In our study, computational investigation is performed about the piston movements in the clearance between piston and cylinder liner by changing the skirt profiles and piston offsets. Our results show that curved profile and more offset magnitude to thrust side have better performance that has low side impact during the engine cycle.
Effects of surface roughness on bearing performances are investigated numerically in this study, especially for the parallel thrust bearing. Although mating surfaces are parallel and separated by thin fluid film, the pressure distribution is formed due to asperities. Model surface is generated numerically with given autocorrelation function and some surface profile parameters. Then the average Reynolds equation is applied to predict the effects of surface roughness between hydrodynamic and mixed lubrication regimes. In this equation, flow factors are defined as correction terms to smooth out high frequency surface roughness. The correlation length is proposed to get the minimum load for the parallel thrust bearing for various sliding conditions.

The program name TOLAPS is an acronym for Take-Off LAnding Profile Simulation. Some of the interesting features of this program is the ability to detect flight performance effects of airport altitude, ambient temperature, air pressure and wind. TOLAPS can also handle effects of TOW and LW. The program user can also calculate profiles by user difined flaps and thrust settings deviating from recommended standard settings for each aircraft. Wind effects on straight out flying as well as turns can also be demonstrated. Output form TOLAPS are either screen graphics of profiles (altitude, speed or thrust versus flight distance) or flight track. Profiles can also be made in a tabular form, ready for use in most airport noise calculation programs. In this way, TOLAPS is a valuable tool to evaluate effects of noise abatement procedures.
